I'm also calling it, Cohen said that the big finale was gonna be a huge Fry and Leela thing; and we also heard that he's gonna try to win her heart for good.

PROPOSAL! :D

...That would ruin Season 8.

I'm in two minds about Fry and Leela marrying. The shipper in me wants them to get married, however the writer in me reasons that for the general story of Futurama to continue that a marriage would put several things out of place. I don't Bender would let his roommate go very easily, and hell would break lose if Leela moved in... is there a way we can do this without them moving in together?

TOTP!

Being engaged?  Maybe they could agree that when they are both ready to move on from Planet Express they will get married, but stay engaged until then.  Not sure about the moving in part though.  Maybe Bender could just curl up at the foot of the bed?

I'm predicting the following scores for the first 8 episodes:

It's looking quite strong! :D

And the rest for the season (Naturama is neutral as of now) is sounding great. Viva Mars Vegas just sounds super awesome!

The past season 2 half seasons were pretty good. But I think for the first time since the original run; this half season is going to be great!

I don't think Fry and Leela would get married. I'm sure that Matt and David know that it would entirely change the face of the show. Also I'm sure that they're aware that having fans try to figure out for themselves if Fry and Leela are together is what makes fans want to keep watching more episodes and be more concerned about the status. Like if Fry and Leela got married, there wouldn't be much to keep on expecting from the show for some fans. So i find it extremely unlikely for Fry to propose. And even if he does, Leela would probably get caught in the moment and feel that it's too soon or something. Because we all know that it would be such a big step in the show.

PS: If they DO get married, the Marriage episode would HAVE to be called Space Marriage 30?? !   ;)

I doubt it, because the title is a huge spoiler. :p

Anyway, as a non-shipper, the only thing I particularly care about is consistency. Either they be together, or they don't. No more of this "on-again-off-again" bullcrap.

Don't forget a huge reference to "Space Pilot 300" too!

But I hear what you are saying about consistency, but there are other fans who only bother to know about their relationship status. After that, they personally wont bother with the show. Another thing I said, is that it would kinda be a big step on the series if they did that. And Futurama isn't known for making steps like these. Ya never know though, The Simpsons took big steps around their more recent years (Flanders and Edna). So let's just keep our mouths shut and wait for it. Wait for it......

Plausible, but inconvenient, would make for some great fanart. Thanks for making me lol. xD

SGB: You rating the Butterjunk Effect that low? I wouldn't make a judgement just yet. The only one I'm judging is the first cause there's so much info on it that we can say it's going to be great. Really excited!

edit: they're killing the 'not sure if' meme, looking for release dates for Australia and saw the caption for BatB: "Not sure if new episode or just rerun of episode I watched drunk"

Speaking of which, anyone know when it'll be on Aussie tv? (I'm assuming channel 11...)

My range for it is from a 7-9. I don't want to overrate, and it's giving me a bad vibe. I have a hope that it'll be an 8, though. But I'm keeping my standards low.

Don't worry, the 'not sure if' meme was already very dead by the time they started those ads.  Actually, by putting Billy West's voice to the image, they are giving the meme new life.  A 'rebirth' as it were. :D

To be honest, the BJE is giving me a 5-6.5 vibe. I'm pretty certain it's gonna be the season's big clunker.

I think we should throw the huge perverts in the fanbase a bone (hurhur) every now and then, don't you think?  They are a necessary evil that helps keep the series afloat, and help give Freako his second income.

On the other hand, a lot of fanservice doesn't make for a bad episode.   Amazon Women in the Mood would probably have the same response the Butterjunk Effect has nowadays, if they released a bit of the storyline and the artwork of Amy's ripped outfit and the Amazons.  Skanky aliens?  Amy dressed like slut?  Sex jokes?  Battle of the sexes storyline?  Grooooan.   Who knows, they might surprise us.

Hopefully.

If TBE is good, then this season will kick ass. What I don't like is that two of the writers on Naturama have never been a full writer before for the show. I don't know if it matters, but I prefer experienced people.

If TBE and Naturama end up being good, then 7A has a hands down chance at being the best season. :)

That's a good point-"Amazon Women in the Mood" was more suggestive than Futurama usually is, but the strong plot and the consistently good jokes (Fry's and Zapp's faces alternating between glee and terror was brilliant) made it an extremely popular episode.

I still think the previews of "Butterjunk Effect" are leaving out something that will end up being very important to the episode. My guess is that Fry realizes that the pheromone he got hit with is going to Leela's and Amy's heads and teams up with Kif to get them back to normal-Fry and Kif rarely interact but this episode could force them to.

Amy and Leela have always had a bit of a rivalry, despite being on fairly good terms.

Fry and Kif could be a unexpected but good pair, like Bender and Hermes were for Lethal Inspection. It could be a fight to get Leela and Amy off the 'nectar' - I hope Amy's properly ashamed of herself afterwards.

My guess: The pheromone is used in a "that it was all Fry's Fault, taking adavantage of the poor, poor women". So, at the episodes end, Fry (and maybe) Kif will get beaten up by the still buffed-up Leela and Amy for his (their) wrongdoing.

Ugh, is this really that big of a spoiler?  Whatever.

Trust me dude, I agree with you, it isn't that big a spoiler, but you seriously don't want to put it outside of spoiler tags, most PEELers are little bitches when it comes to that. :nono:

Okay...there are tents in the background, and I think I spotted some tiny, normally dressed people.
So, it doesn't have to be time travel/freezing related, but could still be some historical re-enactment.

Yeah, a reenactment is what I thought too.  It still doesn't explain how they all have the characteristic neanderthal brow ridge though.  Prosthetics?  Why go to all of that trouble?

Maybe they thaw out real neanderthals just to fight them or something.  But we saw that picture of Fry having the brow ridge!  I'm so confused.

Another thing about the AFWTA:

Someone wondered how Zoidberg could get a seat on board of the Martian Spaceship. The Planet Express Crew discovered that thing, so they might have gotten "auto-seats".
Of course, this leaves the question why Bender was left behind: He might have been late due to looting, but also Robots might be per se not allowed to enter the ship (cannot find the clip right now: Where there robots on board of the ship?)

Leaving certain groups behind might also hit the mutants. If Leela was not allowed to board, Fry would most probably also stay behind.

Just rewatched that clip.  I didn't see any robots on the ship, or any in line for that matter other than Bender.  He may not have been in line either and was just there to pick pockets or something.

There was an image a while back that showed Fry reaching for Leela from the spire atop the PE building.  Leela was up in the air, upside down somehow.  I don't know if that means she's on the ship and he gets left behind, but I don't think so because the perspective doesn't look right.

I eager for more plot details of "Fun on a Bun"... :D

Well, here is a new interview with Matt Groening. Highlight:
Quote
Zap2it: Over the years, do you feel like the storytelling focus has shifted much? Fry was our way into the show, but it feels very much like an ensemble now.
Matt Groening: We've definitely changed the focus. At first we believed we needed to have one normal character at the center of this crazy fictional world, and we realized very quickly that wasn't important. However, it's still fun to see Fry figure things out, and the heart of the show is his relationship with Leela.

And if Fry was the relatable guy at first, he's clearly now not what you would call "normal."
No. The tendency in comedy is to have a character who's stupid get more stupid, because you're trying to top yourself and not just repeat. So the writers compete in having the characters do stupid things. One thing we're able to get away with because it's science fiction is we can sever various body parts, but they seem to be able to be grafted back on [laughs] with no scars. And that happens a number of times, in addition to, of course, the various heads in jars in the head museum.
So writers purposely make Fry stupider. And the heart of the show is his relationship with Leela. Nice, however I liked "classic" Fry more... :)

Hmm.  So it appears that the mammoth/neanderthal gig isn't a reenactment but instead is actually Fry leading his prehistoric forces in battle against Zapp Brannigan's flotilla of space ships.  Not sure how spears and stones are going to beat space ships but I'm sure Fry will find some way to take advantage of Zapp's incompetence.  What's the motive though?

Sooner or later, the Futurama writing staff won't be writing complete plots any more.
They will just mention rough plot details in podcasts/interviews, and then look at the plot-guesses that are voiced in Fanforums.
