In another thread I said to someone to stop whining and come up with another topic to divert people's attention from non-Futurama related posts, so to not fall into hypocracy, here's one.

Now that Fox has postponed the Xmas episode of Futurama in place of an old Simpsons Xmas ep ("Grift of the Magi"), what does this tell you about Fox's continued support of the show. Is this the beginning of the end for Futurama? If so, should we be doing anything to prevent this?

Look at what FOX replied to an email I sent to them this week.

sorry, but Malcolm isn't moving anywhere.

All missed FUTURAMA episodes on the East Coast/Central time zones due to Football overruns WILL be repeated - at another time during the year - in its regular Sun 7pm ET/ 6pm CT timeslot.

You'll be happy to know that we've renewed the series for the 2001/02 Season!!!!!!

Thanks for writing

ASKFOX

I dunno if we should believe them, but I guess that's a good news, but, damn if they keep it on, why won't they just show it.

Thanks Cherrn, I must stop buying cheap Taiwanese dictionaries. Still, "hypocracy" seems a novel way to rule, maybe you should try to do that in Denmark.

Now, can we have some meaningful and intelligent answers to the point raised, or have I stumbled into the anal-retentive's spelling section?

Hey, if an episode is delayed a week, it's just going to be an additional week of Futurama at the end of the season. Maybe it'll be running throughout the year without any seasonal breaks?

Being the one you told to stop whining, I would like to answer you =:-)

I don't think that we are about to witness the end of Futurama. asfar as I heard, it's quite popular in the U.S. so if Fox wants to cancel the show, I believe some other network will continue showing it.

The only thing you can do is to write Letters and emails to Fox so that the will one day see the potential of the show.

I say "the only thing you can do" because Fox woulnd't be very impressed if us from Germany, Denmark etc. would write them.

Well, if the show was so popular in the States it wouldn't be in the time slot that it is shown there, it would be moved up from its current time slot.

Personally, I think that the current situation doesn't bode too well for the show, so I suppose that vigilance now is better than when it's too late. I mean, the show's Xmas episode postponed for the holiday period, yet they show an old Simpsons episode in its place; doesn't that tell you something?

I suppose if Fox keeps on neglecting the show we should hope that some other network does buy Futurama. At least that would show keen intent.

eeerm.. your post was cool FYP, y'happy?

But the thing is all of you who are saying to move it to another network your'e forgetting one very important thing...

Fox owns all the copyrights, trademarks characters etc. and they'd have a hell of time pulling out of all that. I mean they'd have to change all the merchandise etc. and take fox off, so its not as easy as you think

Is that really true? Groening sold the copyright to Fox? So if Fox choses to cancel the show it'll be off the air forever?

They do hold copyright.
I got my futurama die cast figures yesterday.
On the bottom of each figure and the box it has: TM & (c) Fox 200

really? i didn't know they made futurama figures. anyway, i think few futurama episodes have been missed on the west coast due to football games cuz there earlier in the day. that's still unfair that they don't show them. they should either change it's time slot or cancel somethin else or somethin like that. i like the FOX channel, i just don't like what they're doing w/ it. later
