PEE Poll: Should we let people change their mind upon rewatching?
Hell yes!
Hell no!
Hell have no fury like a PEELer torn...between an episode rating. Or in layman's terms, I abstain.

Hey everyone,

I was just thinking about the review threads and how upon rewatchings our opinions/ratings can fluctuate and either decrease or increase. Do you think we should  click "allow user to change vote" in these threads, or keep them based on first opinion? Each side has some pros and cons, I would like to hear your thoughts on it.

Note: for this poll, you can change your vote ;)

I voted for the changeable vote.
The polls are to represent our opinion regarding the episodes.
When this opinion does change on repeated viewings, the poll should imhO reflect that.

Changeable vote, definitely. If an episode "unlocks" itself upon repeat viewings to be even better than once thought... well, there's nothing wrong with that if you ask me.

Episodes can often initially get drowned in a cloak of anticipation or disappointment or similar such emotions. I know I held 'Rebirth' in much higher regard when I first saw it than I do now and that's got to be partly down to the joy of seeing 'Futurama' back again as well as months of guessing how they'd follow on from the cliff-hanger at the end of 'Into the Wild Green Yonder'.

Exactly. Our opinions on episodes can change for many reasons (The feeling of disappointment after watching an episode, marking an episode down for having some terrible moments etc.) And although I think people should wait until their second viewing to vote, I also think the changeable vote idea is good...

I don't mind whether or not we can change votes. I mean, the important thing for me is not what rating I give the episode, but the discussion that we have about the details.

The rating is something that's really more important for CGEF, I think. The poll numbers don't really matter so much here for episode reviews as much as the thread's various musings and arguments and the subtle nuances that will only be discovered and posted about on a second or third viewing (I wish there were more of those, btw).

That's a good reason to make it so people can change their rating. Not only could their views change because they rewatched an episode but discussing it with other posters could also lead to a change in their opinion.

Are we talking about future review threads for eps which haven't aired yet, or existing review threads? If we're talking about existing review threads, would amending them to allow a vote changes reset the poll to zero? If so then I strongly oppose...

I'm not sure. At this point I think it would make sense to limit it to only include future review threads.

No, it would not reset the votes to 0. There is an actual box you check off for that. You can click "allow user to change vote" after the poll is made an voted in; I did that once in my "Is Futurama your favorite tv show?" thread because I added another option for people to vote in.

When I asked this question just now, I did have in mind current review threads. So, if like you voted Rebirth a 1 and wanted to change it to be higher now that you have soaked it in, you could. I just wanted to know what you guys thought because an episode's rating would be constantly fluctuating. However, it would be more accurate to the current sentiment. It's a two way street: either keep it how it is and show what the opinion was at the time of episode airing, or allow a user to change vote and show what the opinion is of it right now.

Ha, how interesting would that be, if review threads could have 2 polls on it - what you think of it then, and what you think of it now (upon rewatch).

I vote for a changeable vote, but that vote may change.
