They go bankrupt, and are forced to let me buy them ($5 or something). I change the name to "the Futurama Channel" and broadcast Futurama 'round the clock. Weee!

The real 'sweet justice' would be if Matt left them for another network taking both Futurama and The Simpsons with him. He's already hinted that he would do something to that effect here and there have been a lot of stories in the UK press recently about him 'winding up' the Simpsons (although he did scotch some of that talk here)

Matt to leave. It would be sooooo satisfying to see FOX go down in the midst of their own stupid attempts at whatever the hell it is their doing, and Futurama to continue and become really big on another network...

I have to agree with Matt leaving them. When they loose both Futurama and The Simpsons, many people won't feel the need to tune into Fox anymore, they'll then go bankrupt and realise the errors of their ways :evillaugh:

That's assuming they have the braincells to learn and deduce.

But the sweetest thing would be for Matt to leave FOX for a better network. Soon after FOX would implode under thair own load of braindead entertainment and reality shows.

Leave Fox while you can, but please, dear God, don't go cable on me! Besides, 8 years from now Fox would have turned into a hardcore sex channel we would have hardly noticed. (tries to get the name 'Spice Kids' out of his mind)

Lucasfilm Owns Starwars, but I don't know if FOX in turn owns Lucasfilm... I think it does now that I looked here: www.foxmovies.com

Lucasfilm owns Star Wars... Fox just has the rights to distribute it (and paid an awful lot of money to do so for Episodes I-III). It's very entertaining to read about all the legal and contract stuff that took place when the first film was made - Fox thought they were screwing Lucas by getting him to write and direct for far less money than he could have asked for, but The Beard tied up those 'worthless' sequel and merchandising rights *and* managed to retain ownership of the film itself. Suffice it to say, no studio since has ever made a mistake of that magnitude...

I'd like to see Futurama moved to Comedy Central or Cartoon Network.  Either of those might be more willing to show Futurama in a normal timeslot without preemption.

And if for some reason Futurama can't be moved, I'd like to see Matt shut down the Simpsons (it really needs to end) and start his next show on another network which would hopefully give the show proper support.  (Which in turn would cause many Fox execs to beat their heads against a brick wall... Then again, they'd probably tape it and air it:  When Fox Execs Attack Brick Walls!.)

As bad as Fox has jerked around Futurama, the truth is (and yes I am wearing asbestos underwear so do your worst) they have been responsible for giving some very innovative programming a chance.  Both Groening shows, Buffy and X-Files, to name some of my faves, would probably have never existed if not for Fox.  Even if an NBC or ABC had given them a chance, they would all have disappeared during their first year due to soft ratings.  Historically, Fox has given their shows time to find an audience while other networks have a "three (or less) strikes and your out" policy.

So - while I don't wish fire, death, destruction or pestilence on Fox, I would love to see Matt just pick up his toys and go home. Simpsons is typically Fox's highest rated show (with Malcolm in the Middle #2 because Homer-wannabes are too lazy to change the channel).  I can think of half a dozen cable channels that would agree to any terms Groening demanded to have one of his shows in their line up.

With Fox losing most of it's best know line up in the last 2 or three years, if Matt were to defect, we, as viewers would double win in that a major cable channel would give Futurama a good time slot, very few preemptions and as much promotion as they could afford, and Fox would be forced to think outside of "World's Blankiest Blanks" box o’ crap to find the next long running series.

Of course the reality of the situation is that Fox owns The Simpsons and it would probably continue even if Matt had nothing to do with it except collect paychecks, and as long as Futurama is "in hiatus" they've got it by the short hairs.  We can only hope that Groening's next project will be as innovative and entertaining as Futurama, except on a network or channel that appreciates it.

Hopefully Matt can extricate himself from FOX and move on.

Oh - you are thinking "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", while I was thinking "Buffy the Killer Robot From Planet Zontar" which was given an even worse time slot on Fox than Futurama, and was thus only seen by me and one other person (who has since passed away).  Re-reading my post I can see it was an honest mistake on your part.

see nix FOX co. owns Buffy, which is sorta why it switched networks recently.  FOX was trying to raise the price and WB i guess didn't want to go for it, and FOX didn't care because they could always just show it on their on lousy network.  But UPN or whatever bought it up at seemingly 11th hour....

maybe we should stop beating a dead horse. Namely Fox. Instead perhaps we could goto the network we see the show working best at and send them emails, and snail mail begging them to buy the rights from Fox. I'd send to Cartoon Network.
Groening seems to be too nice a guy to do every dirty little trick in the book so its up to us to make up for it!  :evillaugh:
