Yeah, hopefully they just made a parody off of the name and nothing else.  The idea of Leela being associated with a goofy children's show, well I guess I don't know enough yet to be worried but I see where you are coming from.
Leela --> Kids' TV --> AWESOME!

Well... Nah, perhaps not awesome. But one name that mysterious and quite "fun-ish-sounding" is "Fry Am the Egg Man". Top marks for "total title name awesomeness".

Futurama is up for two annie awards!

One for best animated television production and one for best writing in a TV show. The writing award is (somewhat bafflingly) for Michael Rowe, so presumably 'Proposition Infinity' is the episode that's actually competiting although it could be 'The Futurama Holiday Spectacular' too.

That sounds aweful either way. :( Why didn't they nominate The Late Philip J. Fry or The Prisoner of Benda...?

Wow... Mike Rowe's gettin' nominated for "best" writing in a TV-show.
I'm just going with what Aki said. There's a lot of better writers on Futurama's staff, Lewis Morton, Ken Keeler, Dan Vebber, Eric Horsted, practically all of them are better.

The Futurama staff picked the episode to submit that would be least likely to confuse the award committee of the ones that they liked most. While TLPJF and TPoB were better episodes, I'd lean towards PI and LI for the nomination due to them being fairly self contained and as PI has activism in it, I think it is probably the kind of writing that is suited to the awards.

You have to remember that the people voting aren't necessarily fans of the show or of sci-fi. They may only ever see one ep.

Probably because PI is an "issue" episode.

Probably because PI is an "issue" episode.
The Mutants Are Revolting is in my opinion a better "civil rights"-themed episode.
But I could understand that they'd pick an episode about sexuality over "mutant" rights.

But that David X. named "Prop ∞" as one of his favorite episodes of season 6, that's just... wow.

Best Animated Series 2010 - Futurama - TV - IGN

First TV. Com now this yay!

_____

Quote
After a televisual trial by fire (cancellation, syndication, DVD movies, miraculous cable resurrection, tense salary negotiations, the birth of "fist bumping"), Fry, Leela, Bender and the rest of the misfits over at Planet Express, Inc. came back hard and strong, just the way your mother likes it!  With the same biting social commentary that made them famous and got them a fancy award from Guinness for "Current Most Critically-Acclaimed Animated Series," co-creator/executive producer David X. Cohen and the original voice cast of Billy West, Katey Sagal and John DiMaggio returned to tackle Creationism, Robo-Sexual Marriage, Time Travel, Lethal Space Cats, Mutant Rights and more. In a time when Seth MacFarlane shows dominate 72.6 percent of all TV animation, Futurama showed us why it's still top of the heap. "Hooray! A happy ending for the rich people!"

In January 2009, IGN named Futurama as the 8th best in the "Top 100 Animated TV Series".[94]

At the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con International, Guinness World Records presented Futurama with the record for "Current Most Critically-Acclaimed Animated Series".

And now 2010!

Back to news: There is no news.

The production staff is again/still in limbo and does not know if more episodes are going to be produced. That's the status as of yesterday.

Deja Vu?  I think that has happened before.  Now if I can just remember when...

Although it doesn't say anything about the "next season", it does say how the fans saved the show.

NOTE:  It's in the top ten by this article.

The release date of the rest of Season 6acv (Season 7 somehow) is June 23th, 2011 according to the vulture article.. and it was confirmed by Futurama writer Eric Rogers.. of course, he says that Comedy Central could swipe episodes, but I don't think they will

Is his episode "6acv14 - The Silence of the Clamps", the one that premieres on June 23th, I'm really looking forward for that one.

Since when did Thursday became the happening night for the best shows? It's like this on every network. I mean I get it, Thursday = big show night for who knows how long. I was just curious if there was a statistical reason involved. Because Thursday night is usually go-out-and-get-drunk night isn't it? Unless I got it wrong and it was stay-home-and-get drunk night...hmm...
