I should start writing spec scripts. All of them for Möbius Dick.

The bleeping is kinda stupid, I mean this isn't fucking morse code is it?...

The bleeping makes the swearing more effective.

Which is in a way ironic, because the swearing is the thing that is supposed to be effective.

I think you are way off there, Svip. The bleeping is a joke, good or bad is up to the viewer to decide. It is not there to make the actual scene any more powerful. I think it's quite a powerful scene to begin with, but I believed the bleep joke distracted from it.

No.  Bleeping makes swear words more effectively.  This is why the FCC requires the bleeping of swear words in the U.S., to ensure that swear words maintain their high level of offence.  You think it is to protect the children?  Don't be stupid.

Actually, Svip is right.

In the South Park episode 'Preschool' (Season 8), a kid in Kindergarten gets bleeped when it sounds like he is using offensive language, but Matt and Trey have even said on the commentary that he isn't swearing, yet it makes you think he is.

We discussed the swears in Futurama though, not in general. Obviously censoring swears in general makes them more interesting and "dangerous", but that's hardly the point here. If the point of the bleeping was to make it seem much more over the edge and dangerous, it would be used more often, whereas this is a one time joke (two time, including the ItWGY scene). Bleeping all the time in every episode South Park style, that is to make it seem cooler and more effective.

Watched the Möbius Dick clip, it was odd, but in a good way. Hard to judge, but looks memorable at the very least, and with plenty of the P.E Crew involved which is also good...

Seems kind of like that interdimensional squid in that Red Dwarf miniseries movie thing that was or wasn't series 9.  I was kind of hoping for something a little more mathematical, dealing with geometrical objects being represented across planes with less dimensions than the object actually takes up.... it might still have weird stuff concerning time though... who knows?

It's much funnier to hear the things they come up with. The professor's sayings, and Amy swearing in Cantonese. Bleeping stuff out can be funny, but too much of it just looks bad.

New clip, this time from "Fry am the Egg Man".

Original link, direct link that should work for non-Americans (yeah, I did it).

Considering something about the story that I haven't considered before: what will the feelings be between Mr. Peppy and Nibbler, and for that matter Fry and Leela? It feels like it has to be mentioned that they both have pets they obviously really like. I can see some "my pet is cuter" fight coming up.

I don't think it seems to be that weird an episode. My guess of the plot: Fry fosters an egg which then hatches. He has the monster from it (Mr. Peppy) as his pet, they have fun together. As Mr. Peppy becomes bigger and bigger, though, he also becomes more violent. The other crew members all start having problems with Mr. Peppy, who starts doing things like eating Bender's arm, destroying the PE ship and whatever. With time, Mr. Peppy is so big and violent that he becomes a threat to the city of New New York. Finally, Fry has to give Mr. Peppy away because he simply doesn't belong there.

A little cliché, but could be emotional and fun.

And I could easily see some emmotional thing like Fry acting with mr.Peppy as if it was Seymour. I do think that the story of this episode could really fit well for re-talking about Seymour or even the event of Jurassic Bark...

Plausible. I wonder which one(s) of the new episodes will be emotional though, I have yet to see some really obvious signs. I suppose "Ghost in the Machines", with, you know, Bender dying. And possibly Overclockwise.

For some reason I LOL'd at 'It'll take more than that to surprise me, Bender!' :laff:

A little cliché, but could be emotional and fun.

Then it would just be very similar to 'Terror at 500 Feet' from AOI 1.... Yeah it was a What-If? segment, but still... :hmpf:

Well it kind of is, except Bender is already big (doesn't grow like Mr. Peppy) and dies (doesn't have to be given away).

In the same logic there can't be two Simpsons episodes when Homer gets another job, in spite of the two episodes ending differently, and the job being entirely different. I see your point, but I disagree.

What, are they going to censor the new season of Futurama? It's not like it's filled with swearing, is it? I can even list the swear words they use:
  • Bastard
  • Ass (it's the American equivalent of Arse, I think)
  • Asshole

Antiquing ...

It's the writers putting the bleeps in as a joke. I recall they did that on some Simpsons episode, and they said on the commentaries that Fox didn't like them doing it because they didn't want it to seem like they censored them. So, I guess they go ahead now that they're on Comedy Central... :(

In the commentary for IAGDL, David X. Cohen (IIRC) commented on the bleep while Zapp and Leela were inside of V-Giny. (Yes, I know that sounds dirtier than it really is. 8-)) He said that CC called the Futurama writers and asked which word was bleeped, since it might be one that could be said on CC. DXC (or whoever) explained the joke to them.

If Fry Am The Eggman is going to be about a 'My Pet is Cuter' thing, that sounds like a plot from Pokemon.

A new clip from "Overclockwise".

This should shed more light on the episode. Most interesting clip I've seen so far.

Thanks for the clip!

Wasn't a big fan of the animation In that clip, fry looked badly animated (up close)

I have a feeling this episode is going to try cram to much into a 20 minute episode and it's going to fall flat. When fry listed everything that was going on it seemed as though it would be a movie storyline. Haven't got high hopes for this one.

I also wasn't a fan of the whale clip reminded me of BWABB and the stingray ending of ITWGY. Just didn't suit futurama a whale in space.

Benderama clip, silence of clamps clip, tron clip. liked them seemed like classic futurama.

so at least that has put my mind at ease that their will still be some good eps this season
