New episode titles:
Fry Am the Egg Man
and
Yo Leela Leela
The first is clearly a reference to the song 'I Am the Walrus' by The Beatles, not so sure about the latter.
I don't think so. When I saw the title, I thought of "E.G.G.M.A.N" from Sonic Adventure 2. It even says that line in it.
Guess where that game got that line from? I am sure that this is a reference to the song, "I Am the Walrus". That song -- and its line "I am the egg-man" -- are FAR more well-known than some random videogame would ever be. The creators of Futurama are of an age where that song would have been part of their culture growing up, whereas the Sonic copy would have been aimed at their children or even grandchildren. I doubt that they are even aware of it -- I certainly wasn't until I read this thread, whereas almost every person in my generation is quite familiar with the Beatles song.
I wouldn't be so certain the Futurama writers aren't aware of modern games, even for children. They seem to be pretty on the ball, since they are sort of nerdy themselves.

True, but who would want to remember that awful (Sonic) song? They're really nerdy, but I'm guessing that (even with gaming) it's probably in directions other than a mediocre game sequel from ten years ago. (This comment, of course, isn't directed at you specifically, Svip.)

I hate to argue over pointless things, but I can't see that being a refrence to "I Am The Walrus"
For what it's worth, the lyrics to the Beatles song are - "I am the eggman, they are the eggmen, I am the walrus"

My comment wasn't arguing for the possibility of the reference being to this strange Sonic game, but merely trying to make sure that people don't get the impression that they never use references to video games. Oh and, one last thing, to those saying this episode titles are terrible, you said a lot about the first 13 episodes of this production season. Do you still think so? Or does knowing the content of these episodes make the titles make somewhat sense?

Am I the only one who's a little worried that we won't get commentary on every episode? Because that would be quite a shame--the less I get to hear of DXC's voice, the more bummed out I am.

He said there would be a couple of commentaries on the box set. I do not about all the episodes though.

So don't they count the Movies as Season 5?
Season 5 in production terms, but not Volume 5.

yuck! Hopefully the artwork for the disk covers is a little better.
I like the boxart myself, looks strong and graphic, quite pleasing. I wonder if the DVD and BluRay boxes will be different sizes like The Simpsons Season 13 was...

Oh yeah, no I got that. My quoting you was basically just a springboard to address the people who seem to think they would honestly make a reference to that particular game (if they did, they would have done so years ago and probably as a broader satirical bit on that series, or maybe similar children's games in general). Not to mention stating how awful that song was. Because, egads, was it f^%$ing terrible. The only reason it isn't still blocked from my memory is that it was brought up here. I owned that game and would still have never made a connection to that song based on the episode title. And so (again not to you but to others here): there's definitely a lot of video game references scattered throughout the series, but they tend to be more respected games, and usually not as minute as an individual song (not even really a main theme) from a rather old game that was pretty widely regarded as mediocre even at the time. Um, but anyway, I'm surprised some people aren't liking the Volume 5 cover art. I think it might be my favorite of all the Futurama covers. So badass.

I think part of the objection (or surprise, anyway) might be that the previous DVD covers, while not necessarily always depicting specific moments from the episodes within, were all still drawn in the usual style of the show (pretty much the same way the art style is in the actual episodes), while this cover is obviously not.

I like the cover actually. Stylish. And similar to the purpose of covers from the Specials release.
