you could try something like "name your top 5 favorite episodes" and...

1st gets 5 points
2nd gets 4
3rd 3
ect...

would that work?

Kind of.  But since everyone's list changes the farther you go down, if your #1 gets voted #1 and mine does not, I will vote for my #1 as the 2nd best episode, while you will vote for your 2nd best episode which may or may not agree with mine.  Once you get to the 3rd, 4th, and especially 5th slot, things will get a lot less concrete in the decision process under that method (since people will be introducing a lot more episodes into the mix...you need a lot more than 1-2 votes per round to win a particular slot in my opinion).  At this point, I think it might be better to deal with one episode slot at a time.  But thanks for the suggestion.

If you are talking about the options I have available, if you would have bothered to voice your opinion anytime the last few days, maybe your choice for best episode would be listed on the poll (the poll was created...if you read any of the previous posts before getting all upset...because there was a 3-way tie for first and that can not happen).  If you don't voice your opinion for best episode, you can't be heard.  And if you are not heard, then you shouldn't complain.  But if you want to get involved with the process now, voice your opinion for the 2nd best episode of all time.

Ok guys...I have closed the poll.  And after 23 votes, the winner for the best Futurama episode of all time is: Roswell that Ends Well with 12 votes (52.2%).
The Late Phillip J Fry had 6 votes (26.1%)
The Sting had 3 votes (13%)
The Devil’s Hands Are Idle Playthings had 2 votes (8.7%)

Now it is time to state your vote for the 2nd best Futurama episode of all time (with Roswell that Ends Well obviously being out of vote consideration).

No "The Luck Of The Fryrish" on the poll? Well, my vote for the greatest Futurama episode ever is still "The Sting", though all of the other episodes listed on this poll are in my top 10 Futurama episodes too.

Right now, it looks like the Luck of the Fryrich is in the lead with 3 votes.  It seems the polls work better (as we get more votes), so I will create a poll for the 2nd best episode in the near future....I am busy for a few days so I will get to it asap.

I've got to go with The Luck Of The Fryish. Perhaps I will change my mind, for TLPJF hasn't had enough time to fully sink in and appreciate it. Although I do believe that it is an excellent episode, and an applicable candidate for 2nd best episode.

Sorry it's been so long since I was last here...I have been really busy.  Anyway, it seems The Luck of the Fryrish would win as the 2nd best episode of all time.  However, to make it completely fair (as I said before I would do this), I will have a 1-day poll up to decide (options are: The Luck of the Fryrish, The Late Phillip J. Fry, The Farnsworth Parabox, and Parasites Lost).
The last 2 options are there due to people's reflection in the Forum: "I have attempted the impossible" as shown HERE

Happy voting!

Why aren't the episodes that didn't win the first poll all on this second one (such as "The Sting" or "Devil's Hands")? If those didn't win the "greatest episode" title, wouldn't people want them to at least be options for second best then?

The Luck Of The Fryrish is the 2nd best episode of Futurama in my overall rankings. I just couldn't put The Late Philip J. Fry above it, but believe me, it was a tough decision!

Because each round is separate from the next.  No one nominated those episodes for this round....and even if they did, I should have just given the nod to The Luck of the Fryrish anyway because of the shear number/percentage of votes for it in the nomination stage.  I tried to give poll options people have been voting near the top of their all-time lists as mentioned in the other forum topic because we are not getting the number of nominations I would like and this should be a "group consensus", so I am trying my best to make it that.

ok....sorry it took so long for me to close the poll, I wanted to try and get more votes.  But it is time now.  And after 18 votes, the winner for the 2nd best Futurama episode of all time is: The Luck of the Fryrish with 9 votes (50%).
The Late Phillip J Fry had 4 votes (22.2%)
The Farnsworth Parabox had 4 votes (22.2%)
Parasites Lost had 1 votes (5.6%)

So to recap, voted the best Futurama episode of all time: Roswell that Ends Well
The 2nd best Futurama episode of all time: The Luck of the Fryrish

Now it is time to state your vote for the 3rd best Futurama episode of all time (with Roswell that Ends Well and The Luck of the Fryrish obviously being out of vote consideration).

Remember, if you want your choice of episode in the poll, you need to state your opinion.  If you don't state your opinion, we'll never know what you thought.

di you reset the poll?

Every round people make voting suggestions (as we are doing now in the thread).  Then, I take the suggestions and reset the poll and you can vote on them.  The episode with the most votes wins that round.

I originally was not going to do a poll and just have people suggest their vote.  But it seems we get more votes/input when a poll is involved so I will stick to this theme.  The poll will be reset again soon for this round, but be sure to voice your opinion here too...if you don't suggest an episode you really feel strongly about, it could not make it into the poll.

Please re-read what we are doing here.  We are going episode by episode down the list of best episodes and Roswell that Ends Well has already taken 1st place....we are currently discussing 3rd place.

If I don't hear back from you I will assume your vote goes to TLPJF.

ok everyone, I finally got the poll up while I could.  Normally, I like to only have 4 choices available as this doesn't spread the voting too thin.  However, I wanted to be kind and reward those who really have stuck to their guns (ie Ghost and Horse) by giving them the chance to score some votes.  I did not include "A Fistful of Dollars" because on the other link I have referenced to try and group similar ranking episodes (mentioned in an earlier post), it lists that episode as #64 of 88...way to low to be considered the 3rd best episode ever.  The same applies to Space Pilot 3000 (#23).  I shouldn't even include How Hermes Requisitioned His Grove Back (Tied-#44) but will for the reason mentioned.  However, remember an option WILL be included no matter how low it appears in the other link if it gets a good amount of votes in the nomination stage here...but one vote will not justify its inclusion.  Enjoy!
