Thanx for adding the poll, Randi. I've just watched this again and I still very much enjoy this ep even though I still don't care for Star Trek. I think I enjoyed this a little more now than I did in 2002, but that was before I saw the rest of Season 4, and therefore before I realised that this is stronger than most of the season...
I like the way the story is told, the structure. I love the video store scene near the beginning, great NNY scene. Great lines from the characters, lots of jokes throughout, Fry caterpillar bow and arrow, Bender self destructing through no fault of his own, the brilliant animation and mods to the Planet Express Ship. Melllvar is a great character, lots of fun. Liked the plot resolution. Only dislike was the Leela make-out scene. If I was a Trekkie I may have found this ep amazing, but as it is I find it just very good...
8/10

Regarding the mere cult status, this episode is (and probably will remain) unrivaled during Futurama's run. What more is there to say about this episode? For a TV series, that's a pardoy as perfect as it can get.

While I'm in no way a Star Trek fan (I haven't watched a single episode or movie, and don't plan on doing so anytime soon), I quite enjoy this one. Good pacing, structure, and gags. The Star Trek crew, the P.E. crew, Zapp, and Melllvar were all placed well into the plot. Otis already stated a lot of the things I wanted to say, so I'll cut those bits out.
I guess I would have enjoyed the Trek references a lot more if I was actually a fan. But still, I enjoyed the scenes aimed at the Trekkies, such as the trivia challenge and Melllvar's fanfic. The cast's guest appearances were used pretty well and didn't feel forced into the episode for the sake of the Star Trek fanbase. In fact, my two favorite bits of the episode come from Shatner and Takei (Shatner doing Shady, and the whole bit about how Shatner assumes that Takei knows karate).
So overall, an enjoyable episode, regardless of whether you like Trek or not. 8/10

none of the crew made it obvious they were in a fight.
Leela could have at leas said "can we go now we're in a fight".
I actually find it weird that Zapp goes on the PE Ship with the crew because there was no purpose.
You can't go from 23 minutes of explaining back story while sustaining no impacts during a fight in which you are not fighting back or avoiding being hit to suddenly being fully engaged in an intense fight. Leela is too strong of a character to give up during a fight just because she might get arrested (especially by somebody she already knows is a buffoon). Even if you don't agree with any of the above points, you must agree that the writers could have found a better way to finish off the story!

Surprisingly, I manage to enjoy this episode in spite of having a very basic knowledge of Star Trek. It's full of solid comedy that a non-Trekkie can understand plainly. Melllvar was a great villain. I'm rating this episode an 8.5/10.

I'll join UnrealLegend with his score of a 8.5/10
It was a really good episode, while it is a tad-bit forgettable for me. Not sure why, it just is. It had some great gags, and a good story to come along with it. Just something about it makes it feel forgettable, not sure what though.
