Does anyone know why we no longer have (in the new season) the vintage cartoon snippets on the billboard just prior to the Planet Express ship crashing into it?

To save time.

Why would saving time be an issue?  And we're talking about three seconds here.

We're talking about lots of stuff.
And it's actually cutting off more than twenty seconds, if I'm correct.

They have about 50 seconds less running time now. It might not sound like much but every second counts.

A little less, but correct.

The only thing I miss is the entire theme, not the opening cartoon.

They do the same on the Simpsons.

With short-running episodes, they'll probably include the entire theme.

Futurama has never had the same deal like The Simpsons with some episodes being too short, though. Futurama has always had much more complex stories which has forced them to rush it much more. Too bad. I miss the original theme.

I hope they put extended episodes with full opening intact on the DVD release. That would be awesome.

I miss the longer introduction as well, but the newer episodes more than make up for it...
