What an excelent episode, I loved the shop selling 'used human probes'. Many good gags, probably the best episode in this series. The Starwars perody was great and Soylent Green jokes are always good for a laugh.
This was one great ep.

Most excellent episode!!

I would imagine that most folks don't watch Japanese TV, but the host was right out of a cooking contest show they have in Tokyo.  I haven't seen it in a while since I moved to Hawaii, but it was very accurate.  The guy yells everything.

^ Yes, we know it's a parody of "Iron Chef". Don't you have the Food Network in Hawaii?

Right, for your information PainoMan, Iron Chef is dubbed into English and shown quite often on the American cable channel, Food Network.

Quite good. Not the best of the season, but definately good. Zoidys' subplot was great. It was predictable, but man, did I laugh. The final scene with the sword, and the Japanese guy was great.

Bender was okay. The middle segment with him being a hobo was a downer. Slowed down the pace of the ep, and just wasn't funny. The first part was great, and ties well into what we now of Bender's cooking skills, and the PE staff's reaction was hillarious. I liked the palm tree and wormhole jokes.

The final segment was good, although I've never seen Iron Chef before, I think I got most of the jokes. Good writing.

Elzar's a cool character, always a hit. I loved his line when he rejected Bender: "Wait what was the second thing again? I hate you! I thought that was #2. I knocked it up a notch! BAM!"  :laff:

I posted it in the Recheck/weird forum as well, but: Bender is 30% iron, 40% zink and 40% titanium. Somebody needs to brush up on their math.

If they'd knocked the hobo segment up a few notches it would've been a classic, as now it's just good. Zoidberg's a winner as always. 8.5/10.

Yeah, I was looking in earlier episodes for proof that Bender was 40% zink, but I couldn't remember where I had it from, so I thought it were just my imagination  :p  But if you also noticed, I guess the writers made an error.

Makes me wonder if Bender is a product of a 110% solution, what the 10% of run off what made of.

Either that or Bender has a minagerie of parts that total 40-40-30.

Or, maybe my mind is just too...inquisitive!

I just watched it for the first time, another good one, Bender's "cooking" was great, and I loved what he did with the chicken.

The middle section wasn't too bad, I liked him slicing up his arm and killing the other chef.

The Zoidberg subplot was mildly amusing, his attempt at hari kiri was particularly amusing.

The discovery that the mystery ingredient was LSD had me laughing, I suspect when it get to C4 they'll cut that thus removing the main joke of the show  :nono:

They cut the LSD gag here in Toronto (or it was buried in adds run near the end).  I only found out about it from this forum.

I thought it was a great episode, it was really funny, Dr Zoidberg had a great sub plot, and Professor Farnsworth was funny as ever. I loved the visuals, especially the train which travel through outer space. The hobo city was a little bit of a drag, I guess it was important but could have been executed a little better. The cooking contest was great, and I’m glad that Sky One didn’t cut out the LSD part. It was one of the best Bender episodes, and I like all of the Bender episodes :)

Poorest episode of Season 4.  I liked the Zoidberg subplot, as well as Morbo's latest appearance, but the main storyline was dull.

I've got to stop watching new episodes of The Simpsons before Futurama, because they just put me in a bad mood.  Surely this episode couldn't have been as bad as I thought it was.  I think I'm going to have to stop reviewing new episodes, because I'm sure I'm not making any friends.  ;)

Zoidberg was as boring and annoying as ever (excpt for the 'Fry did it! Woo-woo-woo..' line at the end) and the rest of the episode just seemed to lack any good jokes.  Not even Morbo, one of the best characters, had that many good lines.  Don't ask me why, but Bender's bad cooking here just wasn't as funny as in 'My Three Suns', and Elzar was never that great a character, which didn't help.  The most boring bit of the episode, though, was the hobo planet.  Apart from the 'romo' joke at the beginning, this section was so, so dull.  The end was a disappointment too - it was just like I Second That Emotion, except not funny.

I'm sure I missed all the references, though.  I've not seen Star Wars or Iron Chef, I've never even heard of Styx, and I've got no idea whose head that was in the jar on the judging panel.

One of the worst episodes out of a very bad season.  The only two good season four episodes so far have been Buffalo and Futurestock, and not even they could manage 5/5.  This one gets a pitiful 2, I'm afraid.  :(

I don't watch Star Trek, so I doubt I'll understand the next episode, so roll on season 5, which at least has a couple of good episode descriptions.

Wow, thank god for Fred and Mike - until I got to their posts, I was thinking I was apparently the only person on the entire planet who found this episode quite staggeringly dull and unfunny. I actually started reading something while I was watching, which I've *never* done during a new Futurama episode before. Review coming on ANSTATMAW soon, but I really didn't like this episode - in fact, [adopts Nixon voice] it'sh jusht made my lisht. Of my three least favourite episodes, that is.

I watched it yesterday, and it was farly average. A typical Season 3 (production series) episode really. A weak plot, I don't find Bender a particularly interesting character anyway, but with a good sub plot and some decent jokes. Frankly if they had dedicated the whole episode to Zoidberg's bottle scenario then it would've been more entertaining. However this episode wasn't poor, just average. A sort of "seen it all before" in the form of Leela of her Own and Futurestocks mentality came over. Although I haven't seen all the episodes from FOX Season 4, the only one I have liked recently was Godfellas. Hopes and prayers that the FOX Season 4 finale is more like Godfellas.

Conclusion: Yet another episode that furthurs my case not to buy the season 3 video set when it comes out. 2/5

I didnt really like this episode. I found most of it kinda dull although the Zoidberg bits were alright, but apart from that it was boring mainly because I Havent seen or even heard of this Iron chef TV show until now, and I'm probably not gonna enjoy the next episode because I dont watch (or like) star trek...I dont like being so negative about futurama but this season has mostly been a dissapointment for me.   :(

FOX's season 4 has been fairly dissappointing I have to agree, but it has just been a missmatch of episodes cobbled together which often have no relation to each other at all. For example the fifth episode (fourth even for UK viewers) showed Leela finding out her true heritage, yet every episode after that until the last one happened before that, thus Leela does not know her heritage. Then in Season 5 the first 9 episodes all happen before WNFHGB. Saying that you don't like Season 4 is a bit like picking 10 or so random episodes and deciding whether they were overall good or bad.

True; heck I wouldn't be surprized if what was season 4 was the production season 3 episodes the fox didn't like, or at least the refuse of airing season 3.

*Bumped for aussies*

This is a bit of a mediocre episode by Futurama's standards, the main source of humour came from the sub-plot (The Zoidberg bit).
Dont get me wrong though it was a pretty good episode just not as good as some.

I liked it, made me laugh as always, especially Zoidberg....and Elzar, man I never get sick of BAM even when you know it's coming.... :D

Maybe I'm the only one but I don't relate to other episodes like a lot of people do (ie I second That Emotion) yeah the gags were similar but I don't even think about that when I watch it....If it's funny I laugh, and if I notice the similarity from another ep later on then I think it's cool  :p

Nope, it hasn't. Still, that guy yelling out everything just seemed even funnier to me as I had no idea why he was yelling.  :)

I'm giving it an 87%. Please note that I added 10% on it for Zoidberg's hillarious sub-plut.

I thought it was quite a funny episode and I especially liked the Star Wars parodies in the middle. Great to see Elzar, a character I like very much and also Bubblegum Tate too. The Zoidberg subplot was also very funny. I would say 8/10 would be fair though, as the middle bit was only good because of the parodies and I found the hobos a tad annoying. The LSD joke at the end was great though.
