Does anyone think that Zapp is gonna be more of "the idiot" we "love/hate" than ever from what happened at the end of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela" with Leela? Or will he be more passive?

Actually, that episode just made me hate him even more.

Removed my response - moved to the news thread because it's not speculation.

I do speculate, however, that this is definitely just going to be played for laughs, rather than as a political statement like Proposition Infinity was (because, you know, this isn't really as topical as it would have been 5 or so years ago - and I believe The Simpsons, Family Guy and/or South Park already skewered the controversy back then).

Re: The Prisoner of Benda:

IIRC, DXC mentioned that Ken Keeler proved a theorem that provides the denouement for the episode.  It's very likely in this image that one of the writers Tweeted a while back:

If I understand it correctly, the theorem is really quite simple, about the level of a homework problem for an undergraduate class in discrete math/computer algorithms.

I'm guessing what happens in the episode is that everyone swaps bodies and they need to undo the swap at the end, but (1) for some reason they're imprisoned/restrained in such a manner that they can only do swaps where one end of the machine has to operate on one of two specific bodies and (2) the machine has a limited number of uses left, so they have to figure out how to unswap everybody as efficiently as possible.

So, whats does everyone think is going to happen in the finale? The thing thats got me is, why and how does Fry turn out looking like that? Did he fall into the lake?

Does the lake still do that?

If Fry was mutated by falling into the lake, that would be a nifty little callback. I honestly have no idea of what to expect from the finale, but I'm excited all the same. This season flew by, man.

do you think the mutants will gain their right to come up to the surface, or will something else happen that just lets leela come back?

With Fry becoming mutated, I assume it is going to end up with the Proff inventing some Anti-Mutagen and creating a question of whether or not the other mutants even want to use it.
For instance if Leela used it she wouldn't be the One Eyed, Big nosed, Elbow Taloned Mutant we(and Fry) know and love.
Maybe questions of whether being a mutant is what makes them who they are and what not..

I hope nothing happens to Leela, but wouldn't mind seeing some known mutants as normal people.

I was asking myself the same question. If it's some kind of cure, perhaps it's only enough to cure Fry. Or, even more possible IMO, maybe the mutants decide they don't want to give up their mutations because it's part of who they are and they aren't ashamed to be mutants (sort of like Leela choosing to go back to being a cyclops in TCHR).

I doubt Fry falls in the lake, it'd just seem a bit cheap to re-use that plot device. Unless he goes to it and mutates himself on purpose to try and make up for getting Leela banished (which is also very likely).

I'd be pretty amazed if the mutants don't win the right to live on the surface, but I wouldn't be surprised if they carry on living in the sewers because that's where their houses are and stuff is. Basically, I doubt it'll come into play in future episodes that much.

Maybe at the end of the episode Fry finds a cure to the mutation most likely a invention of Farnsworth's or it somehow wears off him due to his unique DNA of him being his own grandfather. Because I seriously thought they want him to be a freak forever for the sake of some Fan Girls, not all some may like him this way .... Perhaps their is a cure for mutates but they don't want it, leading to this uprising? Not to mention Leela being forced into the sewers, may of caused her to start; a uprising, push Fry into the sewer lake or force him to? Or he did it willingly to redeem himself out shame of what he did by telling that Leela is a mutate.

If however Fry is to stay like that, I'll still watch this show to the end and beyond.

Don't worry about that... Futurama bends the laws of television, but is still constrained in some aspects by Status Quo is God.  Fry won't remain a mutant for one simple reason: It's too difficult for animators to draw Fry like that forever from now on.  It's the same reason Leela loses her googly eye so quickly in When Martians Attack.

Even Zoidberg is disgusted by him.  I'd guess Fry's screwed up genes made him extra messed up.

The professor has his pre mutant genes so he could fix him up which would allow none of the other mutants to be.

Or even just clone him a new body.
They got the brain transfer devise, and unlike Scruffy the Proff isn't bound by ethics.

if the mutants don't win their freedom, then how does leela get back? i don't think she would be cured since she's been that way the entire series.

how could leela come back without being cured?

I'm sure there will be some loophole that would allow Leela alone to return to the surface; likewise, Fry will somehow be cured. I also like the theory that some kind of mutant antidote, if you will, exists, but the mutants opt not to use it because they appreciate their hideous mutations.

I don't think that there will be a mutant antidote.  Whatever happens that restores Fry to his original self at the end will only be applicable to him.  Maybe there's a short time before a mutation becomes permanent, and the Professor will be able to reverse the process.

The trouble with a mutant antidote is that it doesn't seem very believable that most of the mutants wouldn't want to take it, and they would have to refuse it in order to maintain the show's status quo.

Lots of news from this interview:
http://ifmagazine.com/feature.asp?article=3955

1. The first 13 episodes of season 6 are being released on DVD in December (presumably region 1 only at this point).

2. Holiday Val-U-Pak is scheduled for a 21st of November airdate.

3. The 3-segment animation special episode is indeed going to be the last episode of season 6.

4. Said episode is named 'Resurrection'. That makes for a nice book-end title along with 'Rebirth'.

5. Holiday Val-U-Pak is a musical.

Very minor spoilers ahead:

8. I'm not sure when the interview actually took place, but David X. Cohen acts like they haven't been renewed yet suggesting that the 3 seasons thing isn't true. Or maybe he just knows he can't talk about it yet.

9. David still wants to make a Futurama movie. Let's all write angry letters to Fox like he says!

Aren't DVDs released later in the US due to reruns and syndication?
