Thx for helping. I spent 20-30 minutes googling for an episode but couldn't find it, so let's see if some crowdsourcing can solve the problem. ;)

Me and a friend distinctively remember watching an episode of Futurama where the crew went to some kind of a sporting event that started out looking just like a real world sport and Fry saying something like: "I know this sport" and then it just really starts to get weird. I think I remember monsters entering, eating players and some kind of big bird that took a player or something like that.

Now first we thought it was Blernsball but after watching two episodes where it features ("Fear of a Bot Planet" & "A Leela of Her Own") it fits but not quite, no monsters eating players or big birds :)

Are we confusing stuff or is there such an episode that I've missed? Please help.

Hmmm, I was the only one remembering it then I'd tend to believe you more easily but now it's both me and my friend... :)

Time Keeps On Slipping? Sounds like the bit where the Professor creates those mutants to play against the Harlem Globetrotters.

Yeah good suggestion but don't think that's it...

Me and my friend are probably just crazy :)

First of all, welcome to PEEL.

Second of all the episode you seem to be thinking of may actually be this comic:

http://theinfosphere.org/The_big_sweep

It contains the things you described.

This has been Futurama "Freako" Freak1, your personal knowledge bank of all things Futurama.

I think I know which episode you mean. It's the first time they go to a blernsball (formally known as baseball) game. This should be in season 1 or 2 but I'm not really sure right now.

edit: I meant Fear of a bot planet, but I just read that this one it isn't. Sorry.

Nice one Futurama_Freak1 :)

I've never seen that one before so can't be it, but it was cool :)

Agreed.  Sounds more like a Futurama dream you had...

You're sure it's not that, Zeatrix? The only other solution I can think of is that your memory is a bit jumbled. In "Fear of a Bot Planet," which is the closest episode to what you described besides that comic, a player enters the field from the bullpen riding a giant spider (it doesn't attack anyone, though), and at the game the hologram of Hermes is carried away by a normal-sized bird...is that what you're thinking of?

I saw that episode this morning and no, it wasn't what I was thinking of. Must have been a synchronous dream me and my pal had :)

Either that or its a completly different show.

Yeah I considered that too, but since we're both fairly sure it was Futurama it seems unlikely.

Perhaps. It's so weird that what you remember is similar to "Fear of a Bot Planet" but not exactly it, and then the comic which contains almost everything you mentioned is unfamiliar to you. Uncanny!

Yeah, that epsiode doesn't ring a bell. And if nobody here knows it, it's likely not an episode. I mean, after all, this is a futurama forum, therefore we're all pretty big fans. 95% of us have seen every episode countless times and have them memorized.

Perhaps your both thinking of two different shows? I mean, maybe you remember an episode of futurama, maybe fear of a bot planet, like the others are suggesting, mixed with another episode of something else. Maybe you combined the two episodes of whatever together and thought that it was just one episode of futurama. If that makes sense..

But yeah, all in all, it doesn't seem familiar. no.

Zeatrix, perhaps the giant bird is a subconscious representation of the homosexual yearning you and your friend have for each other.

Oh boy.  HB, perhaps this is an appropriate time to re-review the unwritten rules of how to stay alive and/or not suffer injury while posting on PEEL.

1)  Avoid mentioning sex in a post; Morgan_G19 is looking for any excuse to introduce you to her strap on.  Intimately.

2)  Engaging in a conversation with TNUK will result in brain damage.

3)  Never, under any circumstances, antagonize Coldy.  You wouldn't throw rocks at lions in Africa... well, you get the idea.
