The "whenever fux feels like it"-ly review thread. You'll be spoiled if you read on.

Some mod open and bump it shortly before the episode airs please  ;)

I've only seen it once and to tell the truth I was on a sugar high and couldn't pay too much attention, but here's my initial review:

Funny. Could have done without some of the 80's humor though, since that other FOX show has completely uncooled any coolness that the 80's had left. Also there were some other jokes(like the Calculon bit) that just kind of stopped the show dead in its tracks. But most of it was really damn funny. And the Professor was sexy as always. I mostly recommend this episode.

There wasn't anything exceptionally memorable, marketable, or horrible, but it was damn funny. And isn't that what really matters? Good show, and I'm really looking forward to next week's now.

I thought it was okay, but some parts sadly reminded me of "that 80's Show crap". Besides that it was good.
I give it an 7.9

They made a few funny jokes but this episode was little bit dry.C-

And The Simpson episode tonight just plain sucks and was the first time I had to change the channel in the middle of a simpsons episode.

Neither disliked or liked it.  Enjoyed the larger amount of Fry compared to most of the other episodes this season, but the episode was not terribly funny, or terribly emotional, or terribly boring, or terribly bland.  Probably has been the episode most likely for me to forget this season.

Funniest freezeframe joke: on the stock quote ticker, Fox: -62 (this would equate "Oh god!!!" -fox stock holder as he jumps out the window, for those people who don't understand the stock market)

Not a bad episode.  I liked the part when the stock value was fluctuating based on what Fry said.  Just like the real stock market, based on stupid statements and panicky investor reactions rather than real value.   :laff:

Well this is the first episode in a while that had me laughin throught the entire episode.  I have only seen it once so this is a first impressions review.  I think that this is one of the better of season 4.  I personally like the quick humor better than special effectrs.  Granted some of the 80 jokes were unnecessary, but overall i give it a B+.   And is it just me or did scruffy's voice sound different, calculons too - maybe i am just too happy to see a new episode.  This also looks like a great episode to get trivia references - there were a lot of things written on bilboards or tickers that i havent had a chance to go back and read.  Ok - i have ranted enough - its the next persons turn

This was a really enjoyable episode.  Very funny throughout and the story was quite entertaining.  I also love the fact that Fry was back in the spotlight.

Some of the highlights:
Scruffy's bits
Petunia and her cat
The wonderfully disturbing effects that the boneitis had on the new CEO.  All those contractions had me cringing and laughing simultaneously.

Speaking of, how many times as Fry stated "He's dead." on the show? I can think of at least three. That is definitely one of the weirder catch phrases on the show.

I enjoyed this one.  It was a little slow to start, but the 2nd half was great.  I liked Zoidberg's sandwich and the cat who ate the change.

It felt kind of weird for a Futurama episode, there wasn't as much action, but more dialougue heavy. 1000 years in the future, and the stock market hasn't changed. I almost thought PE was going to fail- so it did a good job suspense-wise.
Scruffy got a bunch of lines, for a character who doesn't say much his performance was stunning. Anyway, I'll give this episode a C+, for lack of real adventure, but not being as asinine as "Greg the Bunny"

Zoidberg's bit with the sandwich was great. And I really liked how they made fun of "1984" and "2001 Space Odyssey". It's really good to hear more from scruffy, maybe he should be a regular (!) but overall a pretty good episode.

The parody on the Mac commercial was one of my favorite parts. As opposed to "Roswell" and some other episodes, this one didn't really go very far in terms of story or location. Not as action packed as the other episodes, but still very good. It was cool to see Fry in a suit, but the hair gel bit...         :laff:

I liked it considering the last two episodes really sunk my boat. There were actual times that I laughed during this episode. Also, I must add, I could have done without that bonitis death scene. That was unnecessary for me.

P.S. I liked the Pat Buchanan reference. That was hilarious.

I usulaly never rate an ep until after I've seen it at least twice, but I'll make an exception. This had some pretty funny jokes, but I think the bonitis scene was just weird. Also, why did Amy care about being a millionaire? B+

I'd rate it somewhere between "not bad" and "not brilliant". Like a lot of the recent eps, the plot didn't give the main characters much to do  except stand around watching events unfold.

Mom was good in this one, Scruffy was a bonus but someone remind me, have we seen Nibbler in season 4 yet?

edit: Just remembered, Nibbler was in AOI 2

O.K. I had to watch this one twice before I gave a review. One of the funniest lines..Fry was talking to Mom and she yelled "Shut up bogger blaster!" I don't know what it was but that was hillarious. That and the bit about Safty Dance.. "You know that song itsn't as safe as they say it is" and that guy going "dun duh da da dun da da dun dah.."
What was that guy's name? I think he was just known as "That Guy." LOL

This ep cracked me up a lot . More than the other "season 4" ones.

Scruffy talked a little to much, he works best with short little one line(word)ers.

LIttle things like when the traffic stopped to let the pedestrians whip by make it feel more Futurama-ee, which im finding harder and harder to find. After first watch i gave it a 4.

I liked it. Not brilliant but not bad either. For those of you who didn't know the original 1984 commercial (like me due to not seeing many american commercrials  ;)), edel got a link: http://www.uriah.com/apple-qt/1984.html  (loads slow).
The "No shellfish!" "That's so unfair" "Tell me about it" had me laughing  ;)

Who the hell is/was Pat Buchanan?

And is the episode title "Futurestock" or "Futurestocks"?

One last thing... the stock ticker read DMC - is this a reference to DeLorean Motor Company or am I just too caught up in my love of Back To The Future?

Pat Buchanan, racist scary politician. One of the (many) big controversies of the 2000 election was the fact that a largely Jewish community seemed to have voted for Pat thinking it was Gore and complained the ballots were too confusing. I think that if their votes were changed Gore could have won... (not going to say anything more as to stop any pointless political debate)

...PETUNIA? Holy crap.

I'm never too happy with "business-world" episodes, and this was no exception; it did, however, have a lot of good gags that (as many have already pointed out before) didn't mesh well together. I liked Calculon's bit, myself, and it's always good to get Fry back into his "Buck-Rogers-As-Time-Lost-Dork" mode, even if both the long-awaited Ape Fight and the "Safety Dance" bit were totally lamezilla. (A "Safety Dance" montage during Fry's tutelage would've been perfect--especially with the "you can leave your friends behind" line.) It was okay, not the best of the season but certainly not the worst; it just seemed to try to cram too much plot into too little time, and there are worse sins, oh my yes.

I like many things about it IN SPITE OF THE FACT that two or three of those things put a little (non-fatal) crimp in the fanfic I'm (not) working on right now. I'm scared next week's ep will do something that blows it out of the damn water.

...PETUNIA?

Someone really needs to catalog the minor character names! The late FuturamaOutlet.com taught me Leela's former boss' name was Ipji, and someone here told me the pig-snouted gilled sewer-mutant is named Violet. I can't even remember where I dug up Sal's name...

:( I didn't like this eps too much.
Sure some pars were funny, mostly it just had me thinking 'where is it going?'

I thought the funniest part was when 'That Guy' decided PE was going to take on
'Mom's Freindly Delivery Service'.
Specificly When Fry Moons Mom's Tower, and she screams at her sons to retaliate:
"Any button! They ALL retaliate!"
(Thats not exact   :p )
I think having Mom in the eps, is what saved it from being a complete bust.    :hmpf:

I liked the Boneitis Death, and the Tube crossing, but the rest seemed too FamilyGuy-ish, as stated above.

As for the 'Fox -60' bit, It was funny and I liked it.    :p

/EDIT
Oh yeah, The commercial was a let down and Calculons bit was .... meh. After he said his line I thoght 'what the hell was that?!'

Besides didn't they already do that Planet of the apes reference in a previous eps?
Not directly but after a delivery they all blamed Fry for ruining the delviery by saying it?

I give it a C-. If it were any other show it get a D- so be happy I gave it C  :p

Oh, the tube-crossing! That was brilliant. I wish they'd do an action scene in the tubes sometime. The tubes are the most underused wild concept in the whole show. They've been basically nothing but eye-candy since Fry rode 'em in Space Pilot 3000.

Actually, it was a completely different hidden gag.  The stock that went before it was "RUN" hence "RUN DMC".  Gettit?

Also, I think I'm confusing this old lady's name with the other old lady now.  I think Petunia is the old lady that Fry dated in "Put Your Head on My Shoulder".  I have to check the DVDs again, because they say this old lady's name on one of the commentaries.

Too many old ladies....

Lots of neat little gags and jokes but overall I thought it was a m'eh eppisode.  I think it was that too many of the jokes were too predictable.  The bit at the bot-mitzva about Fry asking about Robot Jesus fell flat, IMHO.

There were funny bits, but it wasn't a funny eppisode overall.
