http://voiceactors.wordpress.com/2009/08/01/futurama-cast-open-letter/

I do not want to see this story lost in a Futurama news thread, considering that it is not so much a news story anyway.

Variety and The Hollywood Reporter has in mine, and others, done a sloppy job on several parts of their journalism.  Almost as if to stir up rioting.  Spreading FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt), if you will.

I address you this open letter written by the author of Voice Actors in the News, Craig Crumpton to these two publications and their respective reporters who reported on Futurama during the recasting ploy in a thin ray of hope that more people with hear about it and concern themselves with it.  I think, however, Schneider and Andreeva, respectively, are a lot easier to get in contact with, compared to say, Fox.

Very good Svip, very good.

Now get some sleep - you've done a lot to keep us plebians of the Futurama universe informed. :)

I feel the other thread shouldn't have been locked - Lauren Tom and Phil Lamar are both important to the show.  Just because they don't voice "the big three" doesn't mean that they aren't important also.

The supporting cast are also in negotiations with FOX and it would be a crime to ignore their plight.

Phil Lamar does some of the best voices in the show, IMO.

Of course, you've got to admit that the one absolutely essential lynchpin would have to be Billy West. Without him, there would be so many characters whose voices would change.

They're all important.  It wouldn't be the same show with any substitute voicings; I'd hear it.  I even noticed it when John Goodman was no longer the voice of Santa Claus.

Nice work, Svip!

Do we know if David Herman is in negotiations as well? He's an excellent part of the supporting cast too, after all, and the show wouldn't be the same without his many vocal characterizations either.

I would assume Dave is negotiating alongside them (and now I feel horrible for completely bypassing him in... um... some other thread).

And very nice letter, Svip.  I really think that crap needs to be called out, so I'm glad you're doing it.

What is wrong with you people!?  I am not the one writing the letter!  That is Craig Crumpton of Voice Actors in the News.  That's not my blog.

I am just the messenger.  Give credit where credit is due.  I do not deserve it.  He does.

I think your original post is misleading people, Svip. It's written in a way that makes it seem like you're the one who wrote it.

For Example: "I address you this open letter..."

You might want to revise it.

Sorry!  I got the impression from the OP that you were the author for the reason Fistful pointed out.

Nice work find, Svip!

Sorry. I assumed that Craig Crumpton is your name (or at least your letter-writing persona).

Sorry. I assumed that Craig Crumpton is your name (or at least your letter-writing persona).

I am afraid I am not that clever.

Craig Crumpton was actually the one with the original motivation.  He was a bit appalled by Variety and The Hollywood Reporter's handling of the story.

He asked me to share it with other dedicated Futurama fans, and so I am.

I apologies if the distinction between him and me was not clear.

Imagine me working for the Infosphere and Voice Actors in the News.  How would I even keep a day job?!

Well, thanks for your dedication anyway. You do keep us (and posterity, I suppose) well-informed with your Infosphere work!
