Update 2: And now we're completely in the clear! We just got this word from 20th Century Fox: "Just wanted you to know that we now have deals with the entire Futurama voice cast to return: John DiMaggio, Maurice LaMarche, Billy West, Tress MacNeille and Katey Sagal."

Futurama creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen released this statement: "We are thrilled to have our incredible cast back. The call has already gone out to the animators to put the mouths back on the characters."

I don't think they've stopped being numbnuts; far from it.  I think they were basically forced into a corner by:

1)  They realized that Futurama is a cash cow, with a pre-existing large fanatical fanbase (as seen by the huge viewing of the old Futurama episodes & huge DVD sales of the movies).  Lots o' money to be made here.

2)  They f-'d up REALLY badly with their "recasting" joke of a negotiation ploy.  I'm sure they got deluged with "if you replace the original VA's, I'm not watching the show" e-mails, and realized they were shooting themselves in the foot by being penny smart & pound foolish.  So they relented.

They're still morons (remember, they're the same bunch (Fox TV vs. 20th Century Fox aside) that cancelled Futurama in the first place).  We just gotta be on our toes, in case they f-up again & screw with the program again...

Maybe, but when some high-level Fox employee(s) have to justify the budget to higher ups, the board of directors, and the stockholders (that wouldn't know Futurama from peanut butter or motor oil) they can say they tried everthing the could to keep costs down, but look what happened.
