Oh yeah, standard disclaimer: Spoilers are imminent, and they will include Star Trek spoilers as well. If you feel that spoilers hurt the viewing experience of said film, I suggest you leave now and never complain. Since the spoiler tag is not inline, it may not appear here.Okay, let me start. The films have had some mixed reception. And you all know it, I mean, it is weird'ing me out. It's crazy. Some highlight stuff such as the whole Nibbler secrecy aspect being ruined by its blatant revelation and now we can never use that again.
In addition, especially the shippers out there, feel the whole Fry/Leela romance have somewhat gone afoot and it certainly lifts eyebrows.
And that's just a start.
But could they "cheat"? What the
Star Trek film did
(and now the spoilers commence!) was to create an "alternative timeline" (or as it is known on
Memory Alpha,
alternative reality), in which, the time travel
back in time to the date of Kirk's birth by Nero meant that a new chain of events would be put forth, wherein Nero would destroy the Vulcan planet, which did not happen in the original timeline.
Could the gateway in
Into the Wild Green Yonder be a time orb, which would lead them into an alternative reality, wherein certain events had not occurred yet
or would never occur. And things that never occurred, would.
Just like Nero and Spock, the Planet Express crew did/do not know what is on the other side.
