Very similar to Family guy? :nono:

This got under my skin a bit.

Like in TBWABB....The random dinosaur on the front lawn, fry's blood syrup, the zebra getting pissed, the super hero flying away?......

I like the OLD Family Guy a lot, don't get me wrong, but i dont really like seeing that in Futurama, it fits well with the Family Guy characters but it dosent seem right in New New York you know what i mean?

I wonder why they felt the need to bring the kinda stuff into these movies. Futurama's jokes were always smart, clever and subtle, but the random stuff like that is kinda cheap if you ask me.

Now i know in the past Futurama had some random stuff but never like this.

Did anyone else notice it?

If the dinosaur were a pop culture reference from the 80's or 90's then you could make that argument. However, I hardly think a funny and unexpected joke parodying a classic work of science fiction is anything like Family Guy or the idiotic jokes made in the show that have no connection to the plot.

I agree with I.C. Weiner. Something that's been bothering me lately is that if there's any joke in a show that's a little bit unexpected and/or random all of a sudden it's a "Family Guy-like joke" and everyone gets all pissed off saying "Oh no! This show's turning into Family Guy!!!" Like we can't laugh at some little joke about a dinosaur on the lawn of the white house or a Zebra alien (Yeah, how  unlike Futurama to have an alien that looks like an animal) because it's "too much like Family Guy".

As long as the jokes aren't selected by manatees, I don't mind.

It's the problem with other cartoons that random, unconnected and sometimes even illogical things just happen, and I don't know why people find them funny.

There are some Futurama jokes that are like that, but thankfully it's not crammed with a storyline that's plain stupidity.

Futurama has a mix of both, and that's what makes it a successful cartoon. With a little bit of each, there are jokes pandering to those who like the proper jokes and the ones who like the random sequences.

I would have thought that you of all people would love story lines that are just plain stupidity Future Shock. But the point I was trying to make is that they can't put any random jokes into Futurama anymore or people will start getting all alarmist and saying that all the humour is just like Family Guy now.

Then how would you know what a Family Guy joke would be like?

Now you are being rude. Stupidity is an early on habit of newbies. I came, I annoyed, I learnt my lesson.

To be fair, I associate pointless (granted, sometimes funny) cut-aways with Family Guy, more than I do "random humor". Some of the jokes in the four Futurama movies were kind of random, and some of them bothered me, but I didn't see it as a rip-off or emulation of Family Guy. All four movies were structured around solid (usually compelling) plots, which is something you rarely if ever see in Family Guy (the original run of FG did it a lot more often, I think). The shows are both so different stylistically (DXC has stated that, if you take away all the jokes, he's always felt the episodes can stand alone as "serious" science-fiction; that shows, to me, that the plot and the emotional points are just as important to the writers as are the gags), and I obviously think that the Futurama staff is able to turn out a more consistently enjoyable, high-quality product.

I'm not saying Futurama was ripping FG off that would be ignorant why would something great want to imitate something mediocre at best?

But a few of the jokes, mainly in BBB were so like family guy, not saying family guy is the only show that's allowed to do such jokes but its hard not to think of FG when they are done.

And i agree with Gorky, the OLD FG use to have plots that were fun to watch unfold and at the end of the episode that's what i remembered most, the random jokes were just bonus. Sadly in the new ones all you have is a series of unrelated events taken to the extreme.

When the super hero flew off into the distance it was so FG i was like what lol? i laughed but its just not something i want to see a lot of in Futurama, NOT because its not funny but its just been done to death........

LOL...sweet

I'm not even into anything remotely close to DnD/LOTR but i just thought it felt the most like how Futurama was back when it was on TV, the jokes were right on the money all the characters were how i remembered them

The main thing about Bender's Game is that it's a lot lighter than the other three movies.  Even though everyone is fighting for the fate of the world in Cornwood, it's such a transparent D&D/LOTR parody that you can't take it too seriously, which is as the writers intended.  Having an alternative to the other heavy, epic movies is good.

None of the humor from the movies was anything like Family Guy in my opinion.  Just typical Futurama humor, I'll admit some of the humor was more 'adult' but not like Family Guy.
