On June 9th, 2009, it was confirmed that Comedy Central ordered 26 new episodes to begin airing early 2010. Suck my dick, FOX. http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/06/its-official-futurama-returns.html?cnn=yes

There is only one proper way to express my feelings right now.

And now the obligatory complaint: We have to wait 'til mid-2010? Aw, man, I want my new Futurama now.

I kid, of course. Well, at least a little. I'm beyond thrilled (I emitted a loud "Fuck yes" when I saw that press release), but the wait is gonna be a killer. Still, it's nice to be waiting for something that's concrete--new episodes, as opposed to news on whether or not the show will return at all. And I'm glad that we're getting episodes this time; I'm kind of looking forward to seeing how the writers approach the series, now that it's getting back to its episodic roots.

Technically, Fox purchased season, Comedy Central ordered the season Fox produced.  Read the statement again.

I was talking with Svip on MSN before about the possible significance of Nibbler's shadow at the end of ITWGY, and it hit me that the reason he would be there is to erase their memories.

Remember the elaborate tale they concocted about the Box Network (as told in BBS and in the 2007 Comic-Con promotional comic)?  There's no way they would do something this simple.

It could be a miniature of the PE Building. Going into a wormhole takes you far from home, so why not take home with you?

Also, yes, looks like Nibbler.

I don't think Nibbler's presence in that scene--assuming that's his shadow to begin with--will necessarily lead to the crew's memories being blanked (a sort of canon reset, if you will). I think the more logical explanation would be that Nibbler will be able to assist the now-fugitive Planet Express employees. You know, save their outlaw behinds.

Either that, or that whole Nibblonian arc will come back into play. Which I don't object to in the least.

Or the ship will just appear at Eternium and Nibbler will get them in, get them fuel, and send them home. Would be a simplistic way to get done the Green arc and get the show straight to regular episodes again. Expect an episode near the beginning of the new order to address the lack of dark matter.
