I got all from Season 1 - 3 (plus the season 1 dvd) and everything from Season 4 (1-7)

They are all mpeg, since ANiVCD release them in mpeg, and I think that Futurama (and other series) should be mpeg. but I'm weird  ;)

I have all the 3rd season in RM or AVI format in a CD, then in my computer, the current 4rd season (except "A paraoh to remeber" downloading at 51%...)

I taped all the two first seasons, but for some strange reason I always miss "Hell is in other robots"

We're allowed to talk about things we already have. You just can't ask or answer questions about where and how to get the episodes.

You have to go to THJ to do that.  :D

Of course I'm jealous. You've got every single episode in MPEG format. I just completed my first MPEG episode today (229 MB through a 56k modem  ), it took me most of a week. I promised myself that I'll never do that again, but then i saw the quality of it, stellar, way better than DivX (and it beat *.rm silly anytime of the week, and twice on thursdays). It's addictive.  :D

Holy cow, that's a long time to download an ep.  Yeah, broadband is super nice, I got "Godfellas" in about 25 minutes. Anyway, I bet if I burned you a CD with eps on it and mailed it to you it would take less time than doanloading them.

Couple of things of note:

DivX is an mpeg (mpeg4); DivX looks better at the same filesize than regular mpeg1 or mpeg2 (it compresses way better) (maybe people get confused since DivX files are usually compressed with *.avi's?)

The difference in quality is just the difference in source; if *.mpeg file is a true digital copy, then it will look tons better than a DivX that was copied off a tape; the reverse is also true.

*.rm just plain sucks.

Almost all of the time, the Futurama DivX files are repacks of the MPEG1 ANiVCD releases (I've done a few myself). So there's no way the quality could be any better than the original MPEG1, though the DivX compression scheme is vastly superior. Had they encoded it into DivX in the first place, then things would be different.

I have seen plenty of vcds that had inferior quality images (futurama vcds included).  I'm not saying that it would really be worth doing, but the vcds can be improved.  The futurama dvds also, as they contain a lot of mpeg2 macro blocking and artifacts, expecially during fast moving scenes, plus tons and tons of field blends.

Some ppl I know are collecting Animè, and most of the ep's they download are DivX, capped off a digital sattelite, these clips are about 250mb each, and have a much higher res and much better quality than all mpeg-released stuff.
of course, it's just a question of bitrate, but if you try compressing both mpeg, mpeg-2 and divx with the same bitrate, you'll really see how good DivX is.

uhm, my point? got lost somewhere  :p

and yeah - .rm is pure crap. same goes for .mov though.

which reminds me, I wanna try to do a DVD-rip of Futurama, just to see how it turns out.
Of course, just getting 640x480 instead of 352x288 should help a lil' bit  ;)

Actually, .mov (QuickTime) is one of the best codecs I've seen. Having done video editing work in the past, it's very good from a professional standpoint. Take a look at the biggest size trailer for Star Wars Episode II, it's gorgeous!
 Episode II Trailer

Almost DVD quality with excellent colors and virtually no artifacting. It's just that the really good compression tools are expensive and not really accessible to the end user. However, if done right, it can look better than most MPEGs and DivX files out there.

Last week I got a new VCR that actually records programs without the tacking messing up :D Now I've also got "Roswell That Ends Well" and some more of Season 3. Now I have about half of Season 3 and will get more next week when Sky One repeat some because of the Easter holidays. Also I'm going to tape AOI 2 tonight :D

I have various season 2 + 3 episodes, all of season 4 so far in Divx. I have the season 1 DVD.

Also, i have around 12 season 2 episodes on tape, taped before they stopped showing it down here (aust.)

My friend had several others he was goin to give me, but he accidentally formatted his Hard Disk. Im not sure how, exactly, one would accomplish an accidental formatting, though.

What player do you use, Erdrik? I had almost the exact same problem with "Leela's Homeworld". When I used the DivX player "The Playa" is said something about not being able to open the file, when I tried to used "Real Player" all I got was audio, and a message saying that the format was unknown. I then went to DivX.com and downloaded "DivX Player 2.0 alpha" (part of DivX 5.0) and bam! it worked. "Leela's Homeworld" in almost perfect quality.

Somehow my copy of "Roswell That Ends Well" have refused to function on DivX players ever since, but there is no problems in Real Player. Strange.

BTW: Leela was cute as hell as a baby.

a few things.

1. uh, whats with the trend of not having "where the buggalo roam"?

2. 56k isnt that horrible. i mean, it sucks, but with kazaa or morpheus, my av.60 meg eps take 3 hours (not doing anything else)

3. Do we know Thugalicious?

4. What the hell does SmR stand for?
