Yeah but HMV sucks and with no other high street stores (other than Head) its best to look at online sites like Amazon and Play.

Does HMV's site track in-store sales as well, or just online sales?  I always thought of them as more of a brick-and-mortar retailer.

HMV sell other things besides bricks and mortar. :p

And ITWGY has been no1 in both the supermarkets I've been in since it was released.

Yep it's also #1 at Asda in the TV chart. Also the Sainsbury's near to where I live has sold out of the DVD (they didn't have it on Blu-ray and have found the Blu-ray version impossible to come by). I've had to order the Blu-ray version from Play.

It moved to #6 on amazon!

Beating "Milk"!

And to those holding out for a boxed set: STOP IT! They're all out, and they won't get any better boxed. If anything you'll LOSE because they aren't getting your money which means no more future Futurama!

Binder if you remove Twilight, Slumdog Millionaire and Australia as they aren't out yet it puts Into the Wild Green Yonder at #3!

Man I prefer the Region 1 cover to the Region 2 one. Maybe that's what we get for having it 24 hours earlier here in the UK than the US.

EDIT: Also if you go here http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/bestsellers/dvd/ref=pd_dp_ts_d_1

Into the Wild Green Yonder is #11 in the UK version of Amazon although if you remove Twilight and Quantum of Solace as they aren't out yet it puts it solidily in the top ten. Not bad for a straight to video US animated sitcom in the UK.

Is no one else a little pissed off that Twilight is higher up on the list than Futurama or am I just easily pissed off at the moment after reading that fucking letter from school?

Point 1) Since when do you live in the uk? You don't? Then who cares? (except the people that live there)

Point 2) It's because if you order it, you get the two disk special edition (Yes I ordered it).

Counterpoint 1) The sales of Futurama across the world affect the return of the series again, so, yeah, I'd say that it's kinda a big deal.

Counterpoint 2) a) Your support of Twilight is killing Futurama. Choose wisely, Sophie. (As in for Futurama.)
                        b) Twilight sucks.

Being that I am not nor have I ever been nor ever will be a whiny teenage girl who constantly complains about her lack of a boyfriend and wishes for a fantastical world where supernatural creatures have the hots for her even though every sane male of the human species realizes that this girl is crazy, I'd say no. Are you in the target audience of Futurama?

Not really, considering [adult_swim] was never on Comedy Central.

I'm just so lonely.

I have no idea what the target audience of futurama is supposed to be ever since I came on here.

I meant cartoon network.

ITWGY was the 20th best-selling DVD in the USA in its initial week of release according to estimates from the-numbers.com, with about 83,000 units sold.  Last among the four movies in relative sales, third (ahead of Bender's Game) in absolute sales (though BG and ITWGY both have Blu-ray editions, which are not counted).  Kind of disappointing; hopefully it picks up.

Well, that's only the DVD's first week calculation. Bender's Big Score has a year over that, plus it had the anticipation of new Futurama to go with it. We can only hope that more fans become aware of the new DVD.

Then again, if it's losing to "Space Buddies", that's kind of pathetic...

It wasn't clear from the original post, but I was comparing ITWGY to the first week sales of the other three movies.

Hrrm... it sold only 1/3 of the DVDs that Benders big score did on its first week.  Yep, downhill trend for each movie.  Not good...although state of the economy needs to be factored in--let's see if there is a chart for total DVDs in US sold per week...

The first-week sales for each DVD, in order, are about 220K, then 130K, then 73K, then 83K, and the relative rankings have been 15, 9, 11, 20.  Now ITWGY does have multiple factors going against it -- the prolonged economic recession, the release date (February), the diminished buzz from the return of Futurama, and the fact that it had to go up against a bunch of Oscar winners, but I did think that the fact that it's currently the series finale would boost sales a bit.

It seems funny but ITWGY seems to be doing better (chart position-wise) in Canada and the UK compared with the US. Sadly I can't get any figures for sales here in the UK (unless someone else here can). I've even considered contacting the official chart people if anyone knows who that is?

The ITWGY DVD finished its second week of release in 25th place in the US.  Already it's almost overtaken BG's total sales and may overtake BWABB as well.

^ On a related note, is it possible that the DVD sales aren't great for ITWGY because the casual fans of the series are underwhelmed? What I mean is that even if we like the movies many reviews (by both paid critics and dedicated fans) state that the movies don't quite match the greatness of the series (except for ITWGY which is awesome!). If a dedicated fan is a bit underwhelmed imagine how a casual fan feels. Maybe they just didn't see it as a priority to buy ITWGY right away.
