I got 25 pairs of tickets to give away for a fan-only showing of Beast with a Billion Backs in San Diego on Friday 25th of July at 7pm. This is likely the only big screen showing of the movie. Various cast and crew will be attending, too. I'd like to send a few PEELers to make it an unofficial PEEL meet.

For details: CGEF news entry

Hurry up if you want to go and make sure to mention your peel username in the email!

I just sent the e-mail.  I hope you receive it!  It would be such an experience to witness the greatness of Futurama on the big screen. ^.^

(edit): OH GOD DAMNIT!  I forgot to mention my username!  My e-mail was entitled "San Diego Futurama Screening" and was from Icycle1933@aol.com.  I will send a separate e-mail---I hope this doesn't cause any trouble.

Man, I can't beleive I missed the last sentence.  I was just too preoccupied with my e-mail and the prospect of winning the contest.  I hope this doesn't lower my chances of winning. -_____-

That's pretty cool that the screening is during Comic Con in San Diego. Nice timing.

Once again, dammit on the age minimum!

I'm sure CGEF will do a follow up for the people who couldn't make and/or didn't go.

This is one of those times when the country is just too big for my taste seeing as how I'm all the way on the other side. Damn you Louis and Clark!

I_C: I'm looking into lowering the age limit. I put that there to play it safe. Since some people asked about it, I'm seeing if it's really required.

We need more PEELers there!

Thanks for the offer - if I had a little more than a month's warning I could probably swing it.  As it is, my new position at work makes it very difficult for me to take time off like I use to.

Ah, the chance to meet Billy West and Katey Sagal.  Then the chance to meet the geeks-in-charge, Matt G. and DXC.

So how about you, mArc of Borg; are you going to be able to make the trip?  I know you would have to get a passport, fly from Germany, catch about a dozen flight layovers, but dude, it's a once-in-a-lifetime chance for you to meet the players involved and they get to meet you - one of the two people who are responsible for the geeks getting together and causing such great profits for FOX that they gave us the movies.  (The other main person would have to be Leandro at FM/TLZ).

I really mean that - your part of keeping CGEF and PEEL up for eight years has given a sort of focal point for the fans to gather.  You and Leandro have spent countless hours and money keeping things going - I do think both of you deserve not only our love and respect, but the thanks from Groening and company.

lol.  As long as age 20 1/2 is admitted, I'll be happy to go.  And if your guest list is not full by the time you have to turn it in to event coordinators (I don't know why it wouldn't be), I'd be happy to take two more people I know.

EDIT:  I agree with everything Ralph has said.  I never knew you (Marc) lived in Germany.  It would be a shame if you of all people could not make the trip.  With all the things you have done, you deserve it the most.

Here's hoping that you can pull something off and make it so that the people who are close to being 21 can meet the cast and crew of this great show.

Incidentally, as you said in the news section that people who are not registered for Comic-Con can still go, where will the meeting with the cast and crew take place?  Is there a special room in the theatre or will the entire thing be shut down for the evening? (That would be incredibly awesome if it was.)

But I suppose I should wait until I see what Marc can do about lowering the age.

Looks like I can drop the age limit. Check CGEF tonight for that. Still got quite a few tickets left. So, if someone wants to come with 3 friends instead of one, tell one of your friends to enter.

On the me thing: L.A. is just a tiny bit too far away for me...

Double-posting for the bump!

I got the OK for younger people to enter.

The organization of the whole thing is completely separate from Comic-Con. It's in the southern part of San Diego.

Hooray! Good job on getting the limit lifted, mArc. Too bad I still can't go; SD's on the other side of the country, and I don't think my 'rents would like their 17 year old son going crosscountry all on his lonesome. I'll ask, but no guarantees. Hopefully this will let some younger PEELers get a chance at seeing it on the big screen.

It was incredibly awesome seeing the movie on the big screen.  I'm hoping that something similar will be held for the third movie.  The introduction was pretty cool, since more people were there than was listed in the e-mail.  Unfortunately, Billy West wasn't there, but everyone else was.

It kinda sucked that they didn't stay around until after the screening to meet with the fans, but what can you do? I'll be sure to buy a ticket to Comic-Con 2009, so hopefully there'll be a Futurama panel next year...Which reminds me.  Were there Futurama panels after the show was cancelled (2002, 2003-2007)?

John DiMaggio stayed for the entire screening and I could recognize his infectious laugh throughout the movie. Unfortunately, he left as soon as the credits started rolling.

All in all, it was well worth the 109 mile (218 mile roundtrip) drive there.

They were there last year, and I think they were there up to 2003, but between those two dates I don't recall them holding any panels.  I'm kind of banking on the crew being there next year, since it'll only be a few months after the release of the 4th movie (and hopefully they'll have some awesome news about the future of the series to announce by then), but I honestly have no clue what the chances of a panel next year are.

I'm glad the movie showing went well, though I'm kind of surprised to hear that most of the cast/crew didn't seem to stick around afterwards.

Sounds like it was a really awesome time that you can continuely rub in everybody's faces. Did you get to meet any of the cast/crew?

If this had come up Before the PEELathon, I'd have been seriously conflicted, instead of just totally missing it.

I'm jealous.

Unfortunately, the cast/crew didn't stick around long after the presentation. They talked about the film for about ten minutes, then left.

David Cohen said something about meeting with FOX executives and snubbing them for the screening introduction, so I take it that they had something else scheduled for later that night. He also mentioned that the screening was supposed to be a test screening for the DVD movie, but that since it was already released, we had better like it or "our kneecaps would be broken."

We were also treated to a hilarious, never-before-seen anti-piracy commercial voiced mainly by Bender and the guy who is the voice of the announcer. (I think it was Billy West.)

All in all, it was awesome. Like I mentioned, John DiMaggio stuck around until the credits rolled, then he immediately left.

I laughed at the Pineapple Express line though. It wrapped around the theatre and the last block of people were denied access.

EDIT: On a side note, I recorded the first half of the presentation on my camera. I would have recorded the entire thing, but I was hoping for a meeting that never happened.     :(

So I'll post it on YouTube later today and post the link when I do. Again, the presentation wasn't that long and I would have recorded the entire thing, but once again, I stopped recording halfway through so I could be ready for a meeting that never happened.    :(

This just makes me want to go to Comic-Con 2009 even more. Even if there isn't a Futurama panel (and I hope there will be one) I'll try my best to go.

On yet another side note, I may be going to Blizz-Con this August. ^.^

Airlines suck, so we arrived late for the screening :/

For anyone else there, we were the ones who came in about 30 minutes into the movie and sat on the right towards the back.

I hate airports. While we spent 20 minutes in line waiting to check in, they gave our tickets to people who were in front of us, requiring us to take a later flight.
