And don't I just love it!  :evillaugh:

Sorry, but it's a bizarre release date freak of nature that leaves me in the position to say this:

Whahahahahh hahah ahhaahhahahahah!!!!

On my third viewing now, please allow me my short period of superiority.

Internets > you by a week.

However I still have slight amounts of envy for you physically having it in your hands.

Ralph got his before you though, so take that!

I think us Brits get ITWGY a day before the US too.

Though having said that I'll probably end up watching that on the net first...don't think I'll be able to resist the temptation as I've been looking forward that the 4th film more than any of the others.

Depends on when/if it's leaked before the release date though...they managed to keep BG off the internet for much longer than I had anticipated.

Yeah, it looks good on the shelf, next to the series and the other movies. Not that it has spent much time there yet. As you say, there's a certain pleasure in having in your hands.

They did do a really good job keeping BG off the net, then when it did hit there were some 10,000+ people all grabbing it at once. Thats not a bad number...

ITWGY, hmmm I don't know. I want to wait but... well... I suck at waiting.

I'd like to think I'd have the patience to wait until I have the ITWGY DVD in my hands before watching it for the first time but if it gets leaked and I can find a reliable/safe stream I'll end up watching online first.

The thing is that during the weeks leading up to the February 23rd 2009 there'll be reviews (possibly containing spoilers) littering the internet and eventually the film will be leaked allowing plenty of people to view it before it's official release...leading to people discussing it online.

It's going to be hard to ignore and I'm pretty sure I'll end up succumbing.

I got a good copy of BBS, but then that was weeks after it came out in the US and months before the UK release. BWABB was partly ruined for me by my getting a crappy copy a fortnight or so before the US release, and i only needed to wait six days more than region 1.

I waited this time. Glad I did as well.

I managed to get a good copy of BBS online a few days before it was released in the US. I normally don't download films (in fact it's the only film I've ever downloaded) but there was no way that I was going to wait all those months until the region 2 DVD became available, there was such a ridiculous gap between the two release dates. I bought the DVD as soon as the region 2 issues became available of course so there was no harm done to the sales of BBS.

My copy of BBS was so good that I didn't feel the need to buy it right away (and to be honest the UK release date sort of passed me by, BBS was old news by the time it came out).

But I have parted with my cash quite willingly, in the hope that they will make more.

I don't want everything wrapped up in a bow at the end of ITWGY.

I actually think ITWGY will be rather conclusive in terms of the current storylines running through the show and should the show be renewed they'll focus on new aspects.

Wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing either, it'd help keep the show fresh.

Don't forget about the dynamics that make the show work, though.

(Certain characters must remain single, imo.)

Surely everything has a life span though? As I've said a few times whilst that element of the show has been done well to date I do feel that it's running out of gas. If they keep dragging it out it could end up being a detriment to the show rather than a positive.

They might as well resolve it and move on...Futurama has some fantastic writers and there is much more to Futurama than the Fry/Leela element.

Time will tell of course and I still get the feeling that ITWGY will be the last we ever see of Futurama so we might never see what direction the show would have gone in afterwards.

I sure am but I never thought that it'd come back after the Devils Hands either, I also didn't think that there'd ever be anymore Red Dwarf and I was also wrong on that note.

It just goes to show what little I know...though I can't help but feel that there's a sense of finality about the whole thing.

Exactly! by paying large sums of money to make the show profitable enough to warrant a new season!

So here is the plan: we all rob a bank nearest our current location, and use the money to buy ALL the futurama DVD's in our entire city...

Judging by how much interest was shown for the torrent of Benders Game, the sales should be great.

Pessimism isn't that bad! Disappointments are never too hard along with the added bonus of the good things that come along being appreciated all the more.

Besides, you should be pleased I have a different view to you about Futurama's future after the movies...my track record has already shown that I'm near enough always wrong.

That's my theory, pessimists are always either pleasantly surprised or at least get the satisfaction of being right.

I can't agree with those statements on optists and pessimists more. Pessimists expect dissappointment, so usually whenever they feel the blow, they're prepared and the dissappointment can be accepted more. Optimists only get hurt.

After ITWGY, Futurama will not die.  Even if it is the last of it.   So, is it in this movie we'll find out about Leela being 'the other'?   Since the UK is getting the movie before the US, will it be released to the US the day after?

I think that's the idea.

Also if "the other" isn't explained in ITWGY I'll be rather disappointed. That was one of the most frustrating things about Futurama's first cancellation as it looked as though we'd never get to find out what that was all about so if it gets left out despite the writers being given a second chance it'll be a bit of a let down.

Having said that I'm pretty sure that'll be what the movie is largely about so it's not worth worrying about.

LONG LIVE FUTURAMA, GOD SAVE THE "FUTURAMA"
Has anyone heard anything about the sales of BG, I bet it did pretty good. The writters said they were going to make ITWGY a satisfying ending, but make it so it wouldnt be final. So there could  be more. Im sure there will be though. Futurama is amazing and everyone knows it. Then again they felt like "the devils hands are idol play things" was satifying enough so who knows. But deep down inside I know Futurama will get another season somewhere, just you wait.

It's #23 on Amazon's top seller's list right now.  I can't remember how the other two movies did right after release, but I think they were closer to the top 10.

Then pre-orders of those two are even beating BG. In fact, both the Blu Ray and single DVD releases of TDK are beating BG.
