@ Rhodan:

Thanks for the clip.

Finally, Fry gets to ride Leela.

Yeah, seriously, I gotta watch the full length asap before i go mad with boredom. I remember watching BWABB on my birthday. Has the team noticed a way in not getting it up online or something?

New interview with David X Cohen.  Not much in the way of new information, but he did make this comment:

Quote
The hard facts would seem to support us coming back again. From what we have heard, the DVDs have sold very well, and I have heard the phrase "greatly exceeded" Twentieth Century Fox's expectations. So that's got to be a good sign, you would think. We haven't heard anything, yes or no, so it's familiar territory

Thanks for posting the link to a very interesting interview. I guess it's just a case of rushing out to buy the remaining two DVDs, watching the "new" episodes on TV; the gibbering morons at the networks only ever seem to think in terms of ratings these days, & then keeping fingers, toes & anything else crossed that someone will take the hiint.

He said something similar a while back I believe. I still don't think we'll know for certain until after ITWGY though.

yeah, I'm inclined to agree with Curious Gorge.  David X. makes it sound like they've really heard nothing at all one way or the other about the return of the series yet, so, even if there do start to be decisions amid the higher echelons of F*x about the show, its going to be a long time still before anything goes public.

Shows usually start in the fall sometime? so it will probably be year after ITWGY fall if it is coming back. I mean they could pound it out in 8 months between ITWGY and 09 tv season starts, but might be pushing it.

Mm-hm, I get the feeling they'll probably hold out until ITWGY is at least released, so as to continue to sway or spur higher sales. Even if the decision is already made by then - which it likely will be - they won't want that decision to influence or negatively impact the sales factor.

Don't the writers want to do a "proper" (i.e. not four episodes in one) film? Perhaps that's the next step rather than a new TV series?

Having said that that's vastly more improbable.

Finally, Fry gets to ride Leela.

Fry's quote from this is one of his greatest. I always wanted the ride Leela joke and they did not disappoint.

Lets hope the sales of this DVD are through the stratosphere, I don't think I could handle the death of such a great show.

And I thought I was a late comer! I started getting into Futurama around the time the final season was being aired. I asked for the box set of season one out of curiosity for my birthday and have been hooked ever since. Before that I'd only ever caught the odd episode.

It's the sort of show that you need to see all the episodes (preferably in near enough the correct order) to properly appreciate just how brilliant a show it is.

Saw them all in the span of less than a week. DC++ is amazing.

Problem is then you get used to that volume of viewing, and suddenly you have to wait and your like "WTF?"

Reminds me of the time I once tried to watch every single episode of Futurama in a day...granted there technically weren't enough hours in the day for me to successfully accomplish my mission but I didn't let that deter me! I got to Put Your Head on My Shoulders in season two before I had to pull out due to severe arse cramp.

In my defence though there really was absolutely nothing else to do that day, friends were on holiday/unavailable, raining all day AND there were builders upstairs.

If you're going to waste a day you might as well do it in style.

I think my limit was 72 hours without sleep, which would have allowed me to watch all episodes + all movies, but I think I spent most of that time playing WoW...

I should try for another marathon viewing. Ill probably at least do all 3 movies when I buy my Benders Game copy.

I'm planning on watching every Futurama episode in order along with the three films whilst waiting for ITWGY to come out. Obviously not all in one sitting as I'm not a kid anymore and have obstructive responsibilities but with any luck it'll help the make the wait seem quicker.

Probably watch one episode every other day or something, I'll try and fix it so I end up watching Bender's Game a few days before ITWGY comes out.

I may have got older but I sadly I've never grown out of being a hopeless nerd.

The trailers for all of the films have been somewhat underwhelming...not to mention not really giving anything away in the way of plot.

I'm still looking forward to it regardless...mainly because it does leave the actual plot shrouded in mystery. Whilst on the surface it may disappoint some who expected more it does leave questions that we're all desperate to know the answers to.

here's what we know so far

- Fry dies, but keep in mind Zoidberg declared it

- planet express is going out of business.....again

- The professor will attempt to fly the ship

-Fry, NO. 9 man, and others will all wear weird hats, perhaps a secret society

-Zapp Brannigan!!!!!

The trailer also does give a slight impression that there might be a "men vs women" element to at least part of the film.

Could be wrong though.

Is it just me or does he have a strange mark on his head whilst he's lying on the floor?

In any case...I wouldn't be surprised if his "death" leads to him becoming involved with the number 9 man and his comrades. Trailers don't tend to be in strictly chronological order so it's a possibility.

Can't say I noticed the corpses behind him...at least I think they're corpses.

The trailer's quite cleverly done actually, gives little if anything away and adds more questions. Is that a TV show Bender and Fry are on at the beginning? What the hell is that secret society about? How does Fry "die"? It's also quite interesting how it only alludes to there being an intergalactic battle rather than giving anything away about it.

Speaking of Fry's "death" I'll be a bit disappointed if it turns out that it's just a misleading clip and it's just another failed diagnosis from Dr Z resulting in Fry getting up a second later, it'd feel like a missed opportunity after what the trailer's led us to believe. Obviously Fry won't be dead by the time of the end credits as the writers aren't going to kill off the main character, especially with them harbouring hopes of a new series, but if it turns out that there's actually nothing wrong with him in that clip it'll be a bit of a let down. It's been suggested that this film is going to be heavy on the "ship" front (despite there not being anything on that subject shown in the trailer...but of course the BBS trailer didn't give anything away in that regard either) so it'd be a shame to miss out on another opportunity to mess with Leela's head...we all remember what a compelling episode the Sting was afterall.

Uh oh.

This did not fill me with hope, I'd call this more of anxiety.

Depending on the order of those clips, and how much focus is given to them, this could either go very very well, or very very poorly.

It looks like Leela / Amy / Lebarbra breaking into the ship happens after the professor declares Planet express screwed. (how do you drop onto the top floor of a ship in space without getting sucked out?) Hopefully this happens AFTER Fry's death, and Bender is on the nimbus with zapp and kif, so it would at least place the crew apart on separate missions and not some irritating side plot. Amy / Leela / Fry golfing with Amy's parents should be fun, and it looks like Fry "dies" with them too, so with any luck this will happen early, send the crew their separate ways, and everyone will get back together for the big battle!

The #9 man talking to Fry with no nibbler in sight worries me, the hope was that it would be a conclusion to "The Why of Fry". I assume a connection will be made to the Nibblonians but all those other people with the #9 man are mildly worrying too... shouldn't it just be Fry?

Okay actually I think this will be okay, Fry's poker hat is made of tinfoil, so it looks like hes a part of the cult or whatever before that, and with any luck that happens early anyway. Maybe #9 man will just give him a warning that he acts on later -> looks like he dies.

I really hope the trailer is this vague on purpose, I don't think I'll sleep well till February now!

Hehe maybe Leela Amy and Lebarbra just gave up on men, Amy pissed at Kif, Leela going nuts from Fry Dying, and Lebarbra.... well maybe it was just the in thing to do. Hmmmmmmm.....

I'm hoping the crew all split up is dealing with the looming battle, or in Benders case looking for Fry.

it looks like there are groups of three

- Zapp, Kiff, Bender

- Leela, LaBarbara, Amy

-Farnsworth, Zoidberg, and Hermes

looks like fry dies from a nail to the head, because something is coming out, they are at a construction site, and he's the only one not wearing a hard hat.

also they could be poking fun at the happening
