Yeah, I mean if they get some of those jokes, it will make watching the show more 'fun' if thats how youd put it. I mean i was watching hostel 2 at my friends house and all i could do was crack up laughing when my friends were scared, still hostel 2 is so funny for me.

Wow, you have a strong sense of humor.  I was on pins & needles when I watched that movie...

I can relate.

When I was a kid, the "Friday The 13th" films scared the holy hell out of me, but watching them years later as a teenager, I found them rather silly.

I just cant help it. I laugh my head off at movies like that because i still know its just a movie. What scares me most is that i would probably laugh if stuff like that really did happen. Yeah, im so evil.

I loved those gangster kids with weapons.

Sometimes it can get scary, even if you know it is a movie.  The 1st time I watched Hellbound: Hellraiser, I had been hit in the face at Hapkido class earlier in the day.  My nose started bleeding in the middle of the movie (it hadn't bled during the day), and I got totally freaked out.  It didn't help that the movie was one of the bloodiest I'd ever seen, of course...

Personally, I think Futurama's always been a bit dirty and the movie, by which of course I mean BBS, had loads of gratuitous partial nudity and sex references. I think it's fine just the way it is and as long as it's not trying too hard, I don't give two shits whether its "more dirtier" (bad grammar by the way) or not.

About the dirtiest thing ever on Futurama (imo) is the line: "Ow. My small intestine."

Doesn't create a pleasant image does it? But that's the point, you have to imagine it, they'll never show this sort of thing (who would let them?).

I agree.  Futurama was designed for an adult audience.  Because of this, they occassionally have adult themes in the show.  These situations are handled with humor & wit, which makes it watchable & hilarious.

Family Guy would seem to be universally hated around here. Personally I think the show is ok, but definitely not great.

I think Matt Stone and Trey Parker nailed Family Guy in Cartoon Wars (South Park season 10). It can be funny but it's just written without any real intelligence. For god's sake how many times can you use the line "You remember the time...?" or "This is worse than the time...?"

I actually like Family Guy & South Park, but am sometimes bothered by their continued not taking the high road.  Only so much "in the gutter" stuff you can see before it starts to annoy you.

Futurama is definitely tame in comparison to South Park or Family guy. No broadcasting of a real life sex change operation or abortion jokes.

I would watch futurama even without the jokes.. the storylines are excellent, humour is just the icing on the cake.

What are we talking about?  I mean what constitutes as "more dirtier"... yea Family Guy is considered pretty crude but Futurama has had its share of cringe worthy dirtiness in the past.  How easily we forget about episodes about "male jelly", a sliced off penis, electro-shock masturbation or hooker-bots.

I think the key word you used is "crude". I wouldn't describe any of the Futurama humor as crude, although I have thought of much of it as "dirty" from day 1. I love the liberties the show is able to take and the clever approach it often employs.
And Baz, let's not forget "death by snoo-snoo"  :)

I seriously doubt that Futurama will ever be "dirtier".  Perhaps Futurama might get a bit racier, but it'll never go for the lowest-common-denominator type humor of Family Guy, American Dad or South Park. Futurama is far too cerebral to stoop that low. It would just be too unlikely that MG and DXC would lessen the consistantly high quality of the series to pander to the "giggle-when-they-hear-the-word-penis" crowd.

As long as it's done well there really shouldn't be a problem with the show getting dirtier. there some shows that do an excellent job with that sort of material and are still smart and really funny. The British show "Coupling" does a great job with the sex joke. As long as futurama keeps their clever writers we should be fine.

I don't think they would make Futurama anything like Family Guy.

As long as I get my fix, it could be dirtier than drawn together, for all I care.

I'm sure the writers for Futurama won't go for cruder humor, like they have on Family Guy or South Park. The writing stable they have just isn't that way. The only way I can see Futurama getting "dirtier" would be by ratcheting up the nudity. I don't think anything would be gained by doing that, but that's the only way I can see.

But, evenif they did amp up the nudity (again, why would they?), I don't think it would be too graphic.  It wouldn't get to the point that it looked like a sexual anatomy tutorial or a pornographic cartoon. Bottom line, what ever they do, you know its going to be done well.

The hard thing the writers have to do, you see is write the shows for a mass variety of targets, little kids, tweens, teens and adults, I mean there are massive age differences of PEEL users so we know that Futurama would have to appeal to different ages to have the effect it has had on us. The slapstick humor appeals to the little kids that will laugh if someone gets sprayed in the face with 'liquid', and the hidden jokes appeal to adults and teenagers.

Good point Bianca. I love the hidden jokes or jokes aimed at the 20+ population.

Innuendo's would have to be one of my favourite kinds of humour. When you're with a group of friends, nothing is funnier than watching how long it takes 'em to get the joke :laff:

Although jokes aimed at the 20+ population and the people that get the jokes are a totally different matter, kids are understanding these jokes younger and younger. I swear my 10 year old cousin would get heaps of these "hidden" jokes in futurama.

A thought occurs. Those of you who were around when Futurama was in limbo will likely remember tales from the show's crew about how the network was controlling or trying to control spicey content. But now that the show is being produced for DVD and cable I haven't noticed any substantial difference between the old broadcast content and the new content as far as what's allowed and how often. Could it be that FOX (the Family Guy network) was trying to have more spicey content put in and the production crew didn't want to?

If that was true I would be really pissed at fox, I mean C4 pissed, the kind of pissed when things go up in flames. It would explain things though, I mean there is all kind of of smutty stuff on now.
