It's been over 3 months and no news?!?!

Yeah, I don't really understand why we haven't heard anything in so long.

The entire cast was in the studio 3 weeks ago doing some extra voice work.  Maybe it's being delayed for some tweeks and changes and FOX doesn't have a timetable yet when it'll be released.

Or maybe Fox will release it without promoting at all.  I've already told Nix that he'll be walking past the DVD rack at Best Buy and BWABBs wll be in the "Just Released" rack and the only promotion will be PEEL, CGEF and FM/TLZ...

Why did they order the movies if they didn't bother to advertise? If they don't advertise, they won't do as well, which will be a waste of Fox's precious money.

hahahahahahahaha.  Mention that one to Nix.  He may have a stroke from laughing so hard.

Fox has never promoted Futurama after it debuted and it wasn't The Jetsons (credit to Matt Groening for that statement).  After it was pre-empted, moved around and basically crapped on, Cartoon Network bought the 5 year contract and placed it on Adult Swim.  CN promoted it, gave it a consistant timeslot and treated it loke gold.  They used only one commercial break and the only editing was deleting the word "Jesus" from the "Great Zombie Jesus" comments that Farnsworth was fond of saying.

The only promotion that BBS got was a 2 minute short on the Fantastic Four DVD, the Comic Con reading, a few 15 second ads on AS, even fewer ads on Comedy Central and a small ad on The Simpsons DVD (which was released after BBS).  If I am incorrect on listing the promos, somebody please correct me.

There is a faction at FOX who wants Futurama to not succeed.  Gail Bergman is no longer there (she was the one who personally axed the series) but I'm sure there are others who don't want it to succeed.

It's a real pity - Futurama the series was light-years better than Family Guy, American Dad and even The Simpsons.

I know that. But I don't understand the point of using up resources to bring it back in the form of movies, and then not care about how they sell. With an attitude like that, why bother making the movies at all?

the one good thing tho is that comedy central is promoting it well, every time i turn on comedy central and it goes to commercial i see an ad for futurama every weekday.
however, i do wish that someone would interview or talk to SOMEONE in the cast or crew, its been 3 months, and i have yet to hear of or read any interviews with cohen or groening or any of the cast, usually there would be at least one interview, probably with matt, about the simpsons, where the interviewer says something like "so, outside of the simpsons, word is you have been working on some new futurama movies, the first was released last november, what can you tell us about the others?"
yet, nothing, someone should just go out on a limb, and try emailing one of them somehow

Sure, and even without promotion, at some point they'll be taking pre-orders at Amazon. I think we had like a 3 month lead time on BBS, and there's still nothing for BwaBB?

Feh!

No futurama for 3 MONTHS, i'm outraged. We waited years and even though we got a new movie 3 MONTHS is to long to wait for more.

March 18 seems plausible since BBS is going to debut on CC the weekend after but something seems amiss.

Haven't seen a pic of the box art and no one seems to be taking pre-orders for BwaBB. But with BBS some folks got their mail order copy a week or more ahead of the release date which could have caused dome howling from the brick 'n mortar stores. Also it sort of gives Web pirates an advantage if they get one of the early shipments. Perhaps the release date is the day it shows up on the shipping dock for everyone.

Perhaps with the writers strike over they decided to pull it back while they could to make some tweaks they wouldn't have been able to do if the strike had gone on. Don't know how the writer's strike affected promotional material.

BBS was promoted as a come back for the series as a whole and as a new stand-alone feature. It was also promoted when Futurama was sort of in a limbo between The Cartoon Network and Comedy Central. CC may think 4 weeks promotion is too much. I don't think anybody here will let the release day slip by unnoticed. CC may also think premiering BBS and releasing BwaBB almost at the same time may be confusing to more casual viewers (BwaBB? Honey isn't that the one we saw last night?).

That said, 4 months between releases is about as far as I think they can stretch it without bumping back next year's (hopefully) sequence to Summer 2009 or later.

Then , I say... David X. Cohen, please do an interview with some reputable source to give your Futurama fans a "heads up" on where your production team is at with the other three movies, pretty please?  It's been "a long spell" since your last interview.                :(           :p We are starting to feel neglected, alone and scared!!

Fox Network and Fox Home Entertainment are essentially different entities. FHE wants the futurama movies to succeed, as they approached the production team to make them and they funded them.

The people who canceled futurama have very little to do with the new movies

I believe you know what you're saying so what I'll say next isn't to be construed as argumentive:

If FOX wants the DVD's to succeed, you'd think that they would do a better job promoting the things.

I don't have clue what is going on at Fox. They want these things to succeed, but they pretty much refuse to promote them? I mean Fox pretty much worships the Almighty Dollar. It makes no sense. Does anybody know about how well Bender's Big Score sold?

My sister is manager of electronics at a rural wal-mart and she had BBS three weeks before the shelf date and notice of it's arrival a month out.  So far she hasn't seen it on the list of new DVDS coming in so it is going to be more than a month at best.  When she tells me it's coming I'll post it here ASAP.

I'm outraged by this, too.  When will a release date be announced?  We should've heard something about it by now.  As I've said before, maybe when CC shows "Bender's Big Score" there will be a commercial for it or something.

We can only hope.

It's driving me nuts also. I think they might just be focusing on finishing so that they can get it out ASAP for us, although the lack of news still sucks.

FHE know who they are targeting though, because of the phenomenal sales of the box sets, these new dvds are reactionary. The people who are going to buy these are likely people who already have the other dvds and or are buying the simpsons dvds. Advertising on the simpsons sets as well as the limited internet advertising and reviews is probably more than enough. The people who bought the box sets are likely to buy these new ones even without advertising!

Besides here in Australia it comes out next month (I already have my imported copy though), and every retail store I go to has posters for it all over their home entertainment sections

Perhaps some of the delay is due to the contract with Comedy Central.  I doubt CC is allowed to air the new eps without the movies having been released first.  So, if FOX wants to maxamize their profit, they will wait as long as possable in between releases so Comedy Central can only show the new eps tword the end of their contract.

In the end, we just have to be thankfull that one of the movies is already out, and we know that 3 more will be comming at some point.  We have waited this long, whats another several months?  In Futurama we trust.
