Hello everyone, I requested my old thread to be closed because it was about to reach 20 pages, so 10 DAYS intill Bender's Big Score. If you didn't know, at the 72 day mark I came up with the idea of watching one episode a day for 72 days and then the movie would be out at the end, theres 10 days left and ten episodes left, today is Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles, so post your opinions on the episode.

heres the link to my old thread where you can learn a little about my idea http://www.peelified.com/cgi-bin/Futurama/1-005319-1/

One of the best episodes, even if The Funny is sometimes absent. The subplot is almost a rehash of TCR, but Chas is a much funnier character than Adlai.

I love this episode.  As usual, intelligent dialog intersperced with good visual humor.  Like this part:

Nibbloanian 1: "Does he not know?"
Nibbler: "He does not know."
Nibbloanian 2: "He knows not?"
Nibbler: "Knows not does he."
Nibbloanian 3: "Not he knows?"
Nibbloanian 2: "Enough!"

The time paradox is so convoluted. It makes sense, but it takes a while to work out mentally.

It's a good episode. I hate to think so I don't try to figure out anything. But yeah, Chaz is a dick wad like Adilai but at least he doesn't get Hawaiian shirts toned down or have the personality of dish washer.

This episode was very... interesting.

No, really, it was actually interesting.  :p And I love the commentary, if only for the "season with heart" comment.  :laff:

I like the pineapple pic with leela v/funny!

something random i noticed in xanfor's pic - leela loks nice in pink - most colours would clash with her  hair. could you imagine her in red or yellow?  :p

Also another funny quote - So? I'm just as important as him. It's just that, the kind of importance I have ... it doesn't matter if I don't do it.

Much like LeelaŽs homeworld, it sacrifed writing to storytelling, itŽs now up to everyone if he/she likes more usual dynamics of humor and reset button episodes or is willing to accept "pure revealation". IŽam still somehow between but primary IŽam curious what future holds for Nibblonian arc.

"She must be the other."

That line has plagued my mind since 2003.  I hope the new movies will reveal what that means.  Even if it's just Leela being the other who cleans Nibbler's poop will satisfy me.

When I first saw TWIF, I loved it and at the same time I was sad.  I had a feeling this Futurama was reaching the end, since at this point in time, Futurama was rarely shown on TV and hardly promoted.  It also seemed loose ends were being tied in the fourth season.

Yeah, I had the same feeling.  I was wondering when they were going to tie in the "she must be the other" comment (which I don't think they did).  It's almost like that famous scene in "The Empire Strikes Back" when Yoda says "no, there is another".  It's always intrigued me; like you, I hope it's part of the new movies in some way.

Too bad that James Doohan refused to do this episode and DeForest Kelly was dead at the time. I think that they could have gotten someone to do DeForest's voice but what ever. I love Shatner's scream of "Kahn!" when Leela asks "Who did Kirk maroon on Ceti Alpha V?" so funny.
Enen in Futurama Shantner has to rip hi shirt.  I whis Walter would have said "nuclear wessles". I love how through out the episode Walter act like he hated playing Chekov (Oh, Chekov I love him so much.

Koenig: When we woke up, we had these bodies.
Fry: Say it in Russian!
[Koenig sighs.]
Koenig: Ven ve voke up ve had these wodies.
[Fry squeals.]
Fry: Now say "nuclear wessels"!
Koenig: No!

Oh well, I have that as my ring tone anyway becase I was watching ST:TVH last night.

Tricky, you should really tryout Star Trek.

Cool, I'm finally up-to-date with the countdown.  As an interesting side note, shortly after watching TWOF, I took a monsterous dump.  I thought to myself, "It must weigh as much as a thousand suns."

Hail,

First time poster and as this is the only countdown thread I can see I thought I'd pop in.

Playusa.com have posted my copy of Bender's Big Score out (although it's listed as the 27th on their site), which is surprising given we've technically got another week to go. Anyone else have it? When I'm home from work this evening, (about 6 uk time) I'll post some pics for proof, but for those patiently waiting it might be worth taking a chance and ordering there.

Agreed about TOS and the movies. No your not alone in thinking that Fry's catipillar bow sting was stupid. So was Bender shooting off the machine gun. Leela proves that no woman can resist Kirk/Shatner.

Thanks, Xanfor, you just made my day.  Proof positive that, while a fun actor to watch, William Shatner is one of the greatest over-actors of our time...

I love this episode; it's one of my favorites.  As a trekker (I saw the original pilot (called "The Cage" ) when it first came out), I grew up on Star Trek: TOS; went to a Star Trek convention & everything.  WNFHGB is a valentine to all the trekkers out there, who had similar experiences as me.  There's lots of riffs here: being forced to use the chair with the foot pedal "beeps" at the court martial (like in "The Cage" ), constant references to episodes with gas creatures, Ohura & her "fan dance", etc.  My favorite is the "performance theatre" where Shatner is doing a "spoken word version of a rap song" (for those of you that don't know, Shatner put out a spoken word album that was universally panned & sits at #6 of VH1's top 100 worst albums of all time).  Absolute genius...

This episode seems to forshadow Takei's secret.

Zapp: Perhaps we could hear more about these forbidden words from someone with a sexily seductive voice.

Takei: With pleasure.

"Look at these abs".

He has no problem ripping his shirt in front of a group of mostly men.

"Maybe, if you showed a little interest."  He cries since Shatner doesn't seem to notice him.

These jokes take on new meaning today.

The only problem with this episode is that there are more Star Trek crew members than Planet Express crew members.  Where were Zoidberg, Amy, Hermes, Professor and Scruffy?

Imagine if this episode was a two parter and perhaps they all could've been included.

I have a feeling that the producers of Futurama where not only satirizing Star Trek fans, but as well as Futurama fans.  Granted everyone who worked on the show is a Trekkie, but I can't but think that we are all like Melllvar when Futurama was cancelled.

That would have been great if this was a two parter but sadly it wasn't. Fry was in a hurry to find the star Trek stuff that he just forgot and Fry was distracting Leela with convincing her to take him soo...

You, know I had a chance to ask DXC a question about "The Other" and based on his reaction I don't think it will be covered in the next four movies.  Of course, there is always the chance he has one hell of a poker face  ;)

What is Bender's problem with Walter Koenig? Walter is one of the coolest guys ever. Also I love Bender's destruct code. More stuff in a few minutes in the process of watching WNFHGB... I love how at the end it's the Star Trek end theme with the montage of clips.
