I actually found a slightly different word (lost my key code and had to resolve it all over again, so maybe I'm wrong), but it made just about as much sense.   :p

ETA: Billy West has started a thread about the premiere on his forum.  He says he should have pictures uploaded soon.  :)

So I apparantly have to post my photos of the DVD unboxing in here, even though it's not a review. Sigh.

So, yeah. I have the DVD. Photos at the link below:

Yup. Twas hard to grab images of both sides, though. The pokey eye one is really difficult to capture.

Anyone else have a retail copy, yet? The package is really nice.

I dislike those ratings options, the descriptions aren't necessary and slightly misrepresent what I feel the ratings should mean. and who ever heard of rating from 0-4, I know I can just pretend it's 1-5 but still.

If I could, I'd give it a 4/5 for very good

I tend to agree with USS there.  I'll try to discuss each aspect individually.  Spoilers are used, but I'm pretty vague with plot points.  This is a relatively safe read, that is to say.

Overall:  I'm glad to see Futurama back; this did not disappoint.  I give it an 8/10 or an A- for now, and we'll see how it holds up on rewatch.  Regardless, can't wait for the next one.

Just downloaded it and watched it as I don't have a credit card or anything to purchase online and I doubt I'm going to wait for the Aussie release. 4/5.

Moderator's note: The spoiler text below contains a MAJOR spoiler. By MAJOR I'm talking "The chick's a really a dude"-level. So read at your own risk. - Kryten

I love how everyone has been subtle and careful not to ruin the plot for anyone and then this guy casually, very Fry-like, reveals a MAJOR element of the movie. Spy, you've made my day.

Spy, what were you thinking?  Edit that out please.  km73, you may want to edit out your statement too.  Maybe that will control the damage a wee bit.

Spy, no offense but you're a moron.  And you didn't even buy the f***n movie!  But maybe you're a little kid.  If you are, you should know you've done something really stupid.

Warning added to my post, which happens to be above his.  Hey, at least he used spoilers.

Heh, I've been waiting for someone to burst onto this board and ruin the ending like people did with the Harry Potter books... that's just how the internets work I suppose.

Well with new Futurama thought I may as well come back to PEEL...

Saw it, really great, well paced and extremely entertaining. Felt more cinematic than the series and more like a movie than 4 episodes tacked together (the same couldnt have been said for the family guy "movie" ).

The only negative I can say about it is that the lack of orchestral soundtrack due to reduced budget was really grating on me, especially the remixed theme.

9/10

Cant wait for my DVD to arrive in Australia from the US now!!

woo!

You too, huh?

First things first: God bless Sam the Record Man and their "Does Futurama: Bender's Big Score come out on Nov. 20th or 27th?  Aw, hell, put it out there" attitude.

Now then, I have to say, while I'm not disapointed, I'm not as over-the-moon as most of you seem to be.  While the movie's consistantly entertaining, I didn't find it to be laugh-out-loud funny as often as I would have liked.  Also, I found the design of the scammers too close to tht of shell-less Zoidberg to be really comfortable watching them.  And maybe it's just the fact that I've seen the opening rant against "Box" network executives in the online promo about 20 times now waiting for this film, but I can barely get a chuckle out of it anymore.

For the most part, though, it's a solid story with some decent gags, and any new Futurama is good for the world in general.  I'd say more helpful things, but I'm too tired and lazy to write an in-depth analysis right now.

Anyone who downloads this movie is fine by me as long as they buy it as well. If they don't then fuck them they don't deserve to live in a world with Futurama. If people didn't buy the DVD's then knowone would be downloading this movie now because it wouldn't have even got made...

IGN have reviewed the movie, mostly positive. Warning, there are pictures in this review... http://dvd.ign.com/articles/836/836327p1.html

edit:  I've ordered my copy fromAmazon but if it doesn't get here by Tuesday, then I'll get a copy from Wal-Mart @ 6 am 11/27.  When the copy comes from amazon, I'll make it a X-Mas gift to a friend.

So I will be buying two copies.  I'll be doing my part to get more DVD's/episodes made in the future.

Thanks to JN I'm getting a copy on or about the day of the actual release, but I'll still be buying the region 2 version when it eventually comes out. These people need to know how many fans want this movie.

The thing that I love about this movie is how it progresses bit by bit. And some of it you work out just before it happens, and I like that as well.  I almost thought I wouldn't finish watching after such laughter, but luckily, I held out long enough. I can't really think of the best bit because all of it was great, however, I will use a spoiler for something I got a bit confused on:
Gotta say, it was worth the wait.
Buying it at a shop with a huge queue? I may need to think twice.
The Beast with a Billion Backs being better than Bender's Big Score? We shall see.

I saw it.  I thought it started out kind of slow, but then by the last half the story really started to pick up.  In fact I actually liked the first half better the second time I watched the movie.

I also missed the live orchestra music  :(

But overall I liked the movie, I thought it was very good.
