Does that make me the only one who loved both of the songs? Cause i do. I even like the first one better than the second. To each their own i guess...

Venus, I loved the songs too. I didn't like the sirst song as much at first (probably because of Lars/Leela stuff) but it really grew on me, now I have it almost memorized.

Yeah, I've been really interested in who voted utter crap. I'm thinking that one was HomerJaySimpson because one of her posts said that the Simpsons Movie was better and was talking about the writers being on pot while the wrote it.

I agree with Frisco about the beginning. The Bond style silohuettes and Bender riding in on the horse was beautiful.

Not me.  It could have been better, but it was better than almost anything else.

The wife has threatened to tie me to a chair and watch the DVD and prevent me from watching my Power Block TV until I love it as much as she does.

I don't know.  There is an article on Futurama in this month's Wired Magazine.  They say all the writing for the movies is already done, but they don't mention the status of the animation, etc.

I liked the songs, too, Venus! Not as good as the "Don't Worry - Bee Happy!" sequence from "The Sting", of course, but I thought they were both pretty good!  :)

On the topic of little details - and I apologise if this has been brought up before - but am I the only one who found it incredibly cute that the purple-coloured Leelu the Narwhal's mate was a red-orange colour?  ;)

I did, too. Not at first, but they grew on me.

I loved leelu too. I like the way the scene would fade from Leelu to Leela and the tusk would be come the eye.

Having watched the film for the 6th time i know love the songs. At first i didn't but they've grown on me. I still lie the 1st one with the best line "oh won't somebody shoot her please and put her out of our misery" lol

Woo!  Finally watched it!  Just have a couple of things to say...

I thought the movie was okaaay...  My main problem with it is that it tried to cram too much in, too many old characters with brief cameos, too many new characters...

I thought it lacked the depth some of the old episodes had.  And where was the friendship between Fry/Leela/Bender?!  Especially between Fry and Leela.  That was the main thing that was missing imo.

I knew Lars was Fry right away.  Come on, the voice?  The nose?  The auburn beard?  Plus if there's only one guy Leela will ever love, it's Fry.  I guess that kind of took the surprise away, but at least it didn't make me want to shut my eyes and cover my ears and go 'blahblah' at all the Lars/Leela stuff.  Though I still prefer my immature Fry to Lars.  I dunno... it just isn't quite the same...

So not bad, despite these complaints, but I missed my favorite part of the show: the Fry/Leela/Bender connection.

I liked them both. The TIE Fighter joke was one of my favorites and I love the fact that the chorus of the first song is "Cram it down and shut the hell up!" (Or some variation of that)

So, I finally got to see this movie. I must say, it was great. It was better than many of the latest futurama episodes. Was a bit random at some times though, but also had some very funny moments.

The story was well written, a bit confusing at times, but it gets nicely wrapped up in the end. I liked the Hermes story aswell, quite funny.

Anyway, due to some randomness, a good movie.

So did the ending confuse anyone else?

Surely all the Benders have already all come out with their treasure earlier in the film etc... or am I just having a dumb 5 minutes...?

At first i wasnt sure what to expect, i knew it would be great, so i popped it in, it was really good, everything was great but the beginning i almost felt like it was too forced, overall the movie was amazing i give it two thumbs up, futurama is back

I admit Leela was maxing out her adorability in the first song, which I liked, but beyond that...meh.

My DVD finally came from the US - review from seeing it earlier still stands.

One moot point - thought the DVD packaging is a bit flimsy, a plastic case would have been better, even if it was just inside the cardboard slip

The packaging was designed specifically to be recyclable.

It also seems to be specifically designed not to be very durable. I have doubts as to how long the case will last.

Aren't regular DVD cases recyclable? I really hate the case. Is the "hologram" thing recyclable? I hate the case. They should have made it out of dolomite or the beaks of a thousand eagles.

The cases design is great but the package is bad. The lenticular cover is just some plastic glued on to the box, the clear plastic that protects it bends the box and the box is uneven causing more damage, its made of cheap cardboard and it can easily be damaged... well more damaged.

This is just like what happened to my car. They make things so cheap that they can't take any punishment. Recycling is all well and good but if you have to replace stuff every ten seconds it kinda defeats the purpose.

 http://www.gamestooge.com/2007/11/29/review-futurama-benders-big-score-film/

and another review:

 http://www.dvdsleuth.com/Futurama1Review/

I don't think thesw reviews have been posted.  It explores some of the faults that I had with the DVD.  Not everybody agrees with these reviews.

--------------

On a different note, my friend in Iraq, April called me last night.  She was using an internet-linked phone so we talked for quite a while before we lost the connection.

I send her "Care Packages" each month - something that Kelly has more influence with than I.  As a matter of fact, Kelly and April are quite close as friends, so Kelly can figure what to send April to make her day brighter.

(I'm the one who puts Jack Daniels in Listerine bottles and Vodka in Rubbing Alcohol bottles  ;))

So the day the BBS DVD came out, I sent the DVD along with a portable DVD player (7" screen).  The player has the advantage of being small and having a battery so she can take it with her if she has to relocate and wants to zone out during the trip.  Even though she has a private room, she says it's barely big enough for her bed and footlocker so it being small is good.

She finally got the package Monday, December 10th.  Despite the fact that I sent her the first season of ER and first season of Futurama, the very first thing she watched was BBS.  She said that half the surgical staff wanted to see it, so they took this small DVD player to the mess hall and watched the DVD two times that night.  She said it was really nice to get something new from home and that BBS is a big hit where she's stationed.  She says the DVD player is running constantly with other members of the surgical staff watching it while off-shift.  The ER DVD package has yet to be opened - they see too much blood and gore everyday.  It's nice to be able to sit back and watch some humorous entertainment and forget the day's work.

So tonight I picked up Season 2 of Futurama and Season 7 of The Simpsons at Wal-Mart.  Kelly just finished packing the "Care Package" which I will mail this morning when the post office opens.

If any Futurama staff is lurking, just know that a certain Surgical Unit stuck in the middle of Iraq really appreciates Bender's Big Score.  That should mean more than any glowing review.  I know it means a lot to me that I was able to bring a little levity to the lives of people spending the holidays in a Godforsaken place halfway around the world.

Awesome story, Ralph.  Good on you spreading the love.

My brother came home from school yesterday and he's already said how hilarious the movie is.  He didn't even realize there was such a film, so he was pretty immune to the hype.

I didn't see anyone comment about this.  In the film, Al Gore drives his Prius taxi like a maniac; do you think this was a riff on Al Gore's son being arrested for driving 100+ mph in his Prius this spring?
