Another episode, another pointless cut.

Fry is kissing leela...zapp taps leela on the shoulder and says "If this hairpile cheats on you I'll be there to score you on the rebound" (or something like that)

The Channel 4 version? They cut out the word "Score"! Oh god they are doing such a great job of protecting our fragile little minds aren't they - what a bunch of tossers channel 4 are!

That's not a new quote Juliet, if you watch the Real Media version, that quote is there.

This is becoming a big joke, now the word SCORE is considered offensive.
What next?
The word BENDER will probally be cut.

If C4 cut "A Flight To Remember" To Shreds, just think what they're going to do to "XMAS Special" and "Anthology Of Interest I" especially Leela's section.

And they cut Bender saying "Was that before or after you slept with him?"
What the hell was that for? We DO know she slept with him cos you showed us the episode... So why cut it?

You can almost imagine the field day they're going to have with "War is the 'H' word" as well..."Balls thoroughly licked!" - And from what Matt Groening says in an interview, the episode about the Amazon Women is going to be pretty censor-ridden too...

Ahh well we can only hope that Fox have the good sense to release series box sets like they did with the Simpsons. I for one would shell out good money for an entire box set of Series 1 and two

Fox, are you listening, do you ever listen?

What I also found odd is that they cut out amy's parents lines at points (well, even more pointlessly, half their lines actually) and both were about having their grandchild. obviously channel 4 are aware that viewers of futurama want to remain oblivious that pregnancy exists.

And then there'll be an episode that they show which has just the start credits, then switches straight to the end credits because we shouldn't be watching cartoons that say rude and naughty things in the first place, now should we.

It does make me wonder what else gets so heavily edited! Now where's that "Right to Reply" email address...!

What are the predicted cuts for tonight's episode, "Mars University" - What possible parts of that episode could offend the frail moralistic sensibilities of the censors this time we wonder.

I guess we find out at 6PM GMT tonight!

There was at least one line cut tonight.
Fatbot:"its my first time I'm really nervous" was cut.
But thats an unusually low amount of cuts for channel 4, they usually cut at least 10 lines.
It will probally be back to usual next week.

Given up watching it on C4, after they massacred "A Flight To Remember"

Yep, I noticed the fatbot cut. They cut that, but left in the bit about him getting a virus at the end. Doh!

I guess I'll just have to wait till Fox see sense and release the whole series on DVD. I for one would pay good money for amazing quality digital versions of Futurama.

Fox are you listening? (Again!)

They should definetely bring it out on DVD cos they brought South Park out on DVD and DVD would suit Futurama a lot more than South Park.

Well, at least they won't chop off the ending of "War is the H-Word" like they did here... I think. Bender can say "ass" on your channel, right?

yeah Bender can say ass so far but he hasn't really started saying it regularly yet (I Second that Emotion was his turning point I think).
btw there are plans to release Futurama (and the Simpsons) on DVD early next year. That release could always be postponed but for the moment those are the plans.

Don't get too optimistic. Fox are notoriously good at not bothering to give value for money. Each Simpsons video that comes out only usually features 4 or 5 episodes...so expect similar on any DVD releases, despite the fact that they'd have a good chance to pack it out with lots of juicy extras and put out the entire series on a couple of disks..

Ah well, I guess they learn their marketing skills from the BBC!

That doesn't really matter that much. I have all the episodes in MPEG-1 and all the episodes they have shown here in Finland on tape (last one being "How Hermes...") without other cuts that a couple of spots where I have messed up with my VCR   :)

However, it would be cool to have at least couple of the best episodes in full-quality DVD.

Thank god I live in America, where they don't cut Futurama to ribbons, and they always pre-empt it for football games so we never get to see it... On second thought, God save the Queen!

From what I've heard, C4 will stop showing futurama after this next one 'Fry and the slurm factory' one which I've never actually seen. Can anyone confirm this?

It really wouldn't surprise me if they did cancel after the next episode. They're hopeless, they really are but then most Brit TV series have this annoying habit of cancelling shows without warning at this time of year.

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!

for those of you who have access to sky One, futurama will be returning 7th of January at 8:30 pm. I strongly assume this will mean the new season, but be warned, it COULD be just reruns. but I doubt it
