The question:  Did you see the first episode of Futurama, "Space Pilot 3000", on the day of its premiere?

I did!

And I'll never forget how new and exciting the show seemed the first time through!  It was truly incredible!    :D

Anyway, the first episode really did its job well, and threw me into the series.  I was instantly hooked!!  XD

That's why "Space Pilot 3000" will never lose its charm (in my opinion).  It continues to be one of my favorite episodes to this day.

I'm pretty sure I did but being 9 at the time I was more into being with my friends and watching Spongebob and my 'rents didn't thinkt he show was appropriate. They barly let me watch the Simpsons. The one episode the I really remeber watching the first time it aired was LLLIS becuase of Zapp climbing the ladder and Kif looked up and was disgusted.

Yeah, I saw it.  I saw the whole first season, but then I stopped watching TV for a while and just rediscovered the show in time for it to be cancelled.

Also, you kids make me feel old.

I saw the first and second episodes, then was never able to find it on TV again because of the schedule changes.

I can't remember if i watched the Series Premiere since I was about 10 but I know I did see 'Raging Bender' when it first showed.  I remember the joke about the Professor needing to put on his reading glasses.

I sure did!  It came on before the Family Guy premire.  At first, I didn't really like Futurama too much because I thought it was going to be another Simpsons.

As the series progessed, I became a fan!

Heh, I was actually 13 when Futurama premiered.  XD

In fact, I was a hardcore fan, so I saw almost all episodes of Futurama on their original airings on Fox!  I couldn't wait to see every new episode, every Sunday at 7:00 PM!  ^_^

However, some episodes I missed, due to all the weird schedule changes that Fox had with Futurama (before the show was canceled).  It was always hard for me to keep track of whether they were airing the show or not...

But I only missed a few episodes.  So eventually, I was able to catch those in the rerun slot on Adult Swim.

I didn't know Futurama existed until I got a Simpsons comic book with a Futurama merchandise ad in the back. Frankly, I got the impression of it being more of a dystopian world than a comedy, no idea why. Anywho, that was in 2002 maybe, and I never figured out when it was on and promptly forgot all about it. I didn't see a full episode until about a year ago. It was, coincidentally enough, Space Pilot 3000, so it worked out.

Only a year Matts? I would have guesssed longer. But Futurama isn't that hard to get addicted to and learn like everything about so... I guess that explains why people who haven't been fans for that long can seen like sone of the older fans.

I've been a fan sice the first season aired but I could never find it so I had to watch it on [Adult Swim]. I got addicted to it with a Tale of 2 Santas. I know I saw at least 1/2 the first season on first run but after that I could never find it.

Ah yes, the first episode. "From the creator of The Simpsons" they kept advertising. I was so excited about it. I miss getting that excited about things. Ah, youth withering away...
Loved the first ep, and I remember also when I saw Love's Labours Lost in Space, Zapp's idiocy...I thought that was the most hilarious thing since sliced bread (puny off-cuts, cower before my mighty teeth!).

Much with a number of comedy shows I've grown to love over the years, I 'got into' Futurama retrospectively, and I didn't start with SP3000, in fact I seen quite a lot of episodes before I seen SP3K, which I only seen after buying the DVD set of Se1.
Likewise I got into Red Dwarf in a similair manner, it never appealed to me when it was first aired in fact I never watched any of the broadcast episodes untl se7.

I remember watching the premiere when it first aired, and it rocked.  I wasn't a huge fan of the show of the show immediately, but after My Three Suns, I was hooked.

i think i was 13 going on 14...good age to start watching that show IMO.

unfortunately, no.  I didn't even know futurama existed until sometime in 2003, when I happened to see the last five minutes of A Pharoah To Remember on Cartoon Network.  I remember thinking to myself "Wait a minute, a purple-haired cyclops, a robot, and a spaceship, all in ancient Egypt?  I have to find out what this show is."

Nope. I wasn't a fan until about '02. A friend of mine bought the first volume while I was with him. At the time I'd never heard of Futurama. I watched the 1st episode and I was hooked. I had watch the whole season that night.

I saw the premiere, but only when it started to air in my country (I live in quebec, the show aired on Teletoon). I liked it from the very beggining. By the time it started where I live, the show was already over and cancel if i'm not mistaken. So I was pretty shocked when I learned that news on the Internet.

I did see it, when it premiered.  And HATED it.  But, that's common for me; I hated Star Trek: The Next Generation when it debuted.  And for the same reasons I hated Futurama; the characters and story lines were not fully formed, the timing between characters was off, etc.  But Futurama, like TNG, grew on me.  I kept watching Futurama because it was unlike anything else on TV, and by the 5th episode, I was a fan.
