So we get al 72 episodes on AS the last week of 07 and then we get them again on CC starting on 01/02/08? AROOOO!  Is BBS going to be broken into eps at that point or are they going to air it in its' glorious entirety?
Now, if you will indulge me,  I noticed that the Nixon kills all the robots bit is strikingly similar to the old National Lampoons bit in 72  about Nixon killing off all the hippies by throwing another woodstock and dropping the bomb on them.  Deliberate or co-incidence?  if a thread for questions like this exists kindly direct me there and I'll edit this post.  Thanks

^ I didn't know about that, but I'd say it sure sounds like the idea may have come from that. Would be a pretty big coincidence otherwise.

It will depend entirely on how well the movies do...

The other day, I walked into a favorite bookstore of mine. I paused by the DVDs, and happened to notice that they had every season of Futurama and three copies of BBS.

A few days later I returned, and happened to pause once more by the DVDs. All the Futurama seasons were gone and there were only two BBSes left.

Good news, or wot?

It's a great Christmas present, especially with stores (amazon.com and Borders for two examples) having about 50% off sales on box sets right now.

Amazon UK has Bender's Big Score listed for release on 7th April. I'll bet it gets pushed back by 8 months.

Good news! I see that it has a BBFC certificate which is a good sign as that is obviously done and won't hold it up...

I found this on the Futurama Madhouse / Leela Zone webpage

Good News Everyone! IMDB says that the next Futurama movie, The Beast With A Billion Backs, will be released on 18 March 2008  and gives a plot summary of "The Planet Express crew must work to fix rips between their universe and another inhabited by a planet-sized, tentacle alien which soon takes over the Earth and uses it's ability to control Fry to command an entire religion which takes over and convinces the inhabitants of Earth to abandon the Earth to live in a pseudo-heaven, leaving the robots of the world to inherit the planet".  No of sign of it as available for preorder on Amazon or Foxstore yet, so we'll see how accurate that turns out to be. Thanks to FMMB member H.G.Heather for spotting that.

Unfortunately, since IMDB isn't an official source, there's no way to confirm the release date yet.

Too soon, it won't come out then. Nice summary though, makes sense when after having watched the animatic. Should be good. Predicting an April/May release...

I've heard May but IMDB is usually pretty acurate,so here's hoping it's slotted for 18.03.2008 release.

This is very interesting and good news because it means that the Writers Guild Strike hasn't prevented them from doing anymore work on it. It basically confirms that the WGA will definately not be affecting the Futurama DVD's...

Ah... no.
Here.
Meaning to impugn no one, my point is that while it is generally accurate regarding projects "in the can," do not rely on IMDb for accurate information regarding upcoming events, release dates, etc.
IMDb is only as reliable as the people who submit the information - namely US!
I'll shut up now...

IMdB lists Beast with a billion backs with a release date of March 18: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1054485/
True? False? Possible?

Surely we would've seen something by now if it was coming out in March? We got the boxart and some special features for BBS back in August, about three months-ish before it came out, didn't we?

I'm betting on a May release - based on nothing other than the fact that it makes sense to me, I think they're going for an every-six-months type of thing.

Both tvshowsondvd.com and videoeta.com (both of which tend to be reliable) have no listings for BWaBB, so I'm calling shenanigans on that date.  Which is coincidentally my birthday.

Huh?

Wikipedia?
How does Wikipedia relate to the topic at hand?
Or did I just 'stroke-out' there for a moment?  :hmpf:

It could be possible if "Beast With a Billion Backs" is released March 18th.  Then again, you can't really trust what Wikipedia says.  Guess it won't be out until April or May.  I can wait that long.

Since the Super Bowl is just around the corner, during the commercials, there should be a trailer for "Beast with a Billion Backs."

During the Super Bowl?  Maybe on another channel, of course.  The price of a Super Bowl commercial would probably be more than the DVD will profit.

I was kinda disappointed with the meager amount of promotion that BBS got.  The comic con thing, a 2 minute spot on the Fantastic Four DVD and a few spots on AS and CC.  I would have thought that FOX would have promoted it a little harder.

Yeah, I know.  Stupid of me to even hope for such a thing.

But I would like to see a March 18 release/escape date.  That's two days prior to my 10th anniversery with the wonderful Kelly.  I'm too cheap to get her an expensive Anniversary gift - a $19.95 Futurama DVD will work great.

I'd love for it to come out on my birthday.  I doubt it will, though.

And if you get it the day it comes out (which I will), you should be able to get it for a few bucks less.

Yeah, it's kinda funny that a date hasn't been announced - even if it's as late as May.

Must be part of the non-promotion campaign by FOX.  We'll find out that it's been released when we walk by the display rack at BestBuy...

On the promotion side of things, I don't understand why the Beast With The Billion Backs animatic wasn't included on every regular Benders Big Score DVD. It should have just been on the main DVD for everyone, one disc, because it would help everyone who bought BBS know that another movie is coming...

As for not having a date yet, I'm still in the optomistic phase, but with each day that passes a little more caution seeps in with worry as to why a date even in May hasn't been announced yet. The main positive news is that Billy West said the crew got back together recently to do touch ups for it. Could that have been commentary? Or was it extra lines? Dunno but it's still promising...

I read somewhere that Matt Groening and crew are doing in weeks what they usually do in months for the production of each episode.  So with 4 episodes per movie(to be broke up at the end of the last movie coming out)  I'm really optimistic that every 3 or 4 months a Futurama movie will make it out to we fans!!  Like every quarter a new movie will be out this year.  Hooray!!!

Welcome to PEEL, HYPNoBRECKY. Take a look at our FAQs at WikiPEELia. Read them. Live them. Love them.

Also, there's a little thing below your post that looks like this:

It's the Edit button. It allows you to edit your post so you don't have to make another post correcting the first.

Also also, I'm quite positive that all the movies have been completed, just some polishing needs to be done to them. Expect for Beast this spring, Bender's Game this fall, and then Green Yonder next spring. They'll want to draw it out; releasing 4 movies in 3-4 months and then being done isn't good business practices.

Yeah, thanks, i_c_weiner,( you remind me of pizza with a chuckle), wouldn't want to be considered a spammer.
Even on this website the movies are all listed as coming out for distribution in 2008.  It makes business sense if you think about keeping the interest high and the material new enough; with Christmas 2008 being time to buy boxed sets of the four new  movies for all our Futurama fanatic friends and our fanatic selves.    :flirt:

Uh, no, the last we heard it was stated they were coming out through 2009. Unless something changed. But it makes more sense that they would want to stretch it out longer than just over one year.

That info needs updating. Since then we were told that the last one is due in 2009. Also I'm quite positive all the movies have not been completed, they wouldn't have given us an animatic of the next one if they had, it would have been in full color. Let alone the two after that. I would imagine that all the movies are in production as we speak, but with each movie being at different stages of production. ie Beast With A Billion Backs almost done, Benders Game in mid production, and Green Yonder in the early stages...
