When you say 'support' do you mean support it financially or support it material-wise?

If its the ladder half, then yes, easily. Given enough time and minimal pressure, the show's writers could make a 10 hour movie and still make it intetersting enough to sit through.

With a purely theatrical run? Probably not. But with DVD sales added in, sure.

Then again, it would pretty much cost the same to make either way--which I imagine would be pretty cheap for a movie--so, maybe.

But, from the studio standpoint: Is it better to have something be a (possible) perceived failure at the box office first, or to (most likely) be a big immediate success on DVD? I mean, they already know the DVD's will sell, so why not just go with that?

It's better if it's direct to DVD.  That's my opinion.

If it was to go to the cinema and was advertised to go on the cinema then i think that it would get a lot more popularity though so more people would buy Futurama stuff so more Futurama eps could be made

The main reason it's brought to the Theater is so they can see how much the oublic likes it, right?  Since People like us are going to buy it anyway, like Electerik said, straight-to-DVD might be smartest.
