Not sure if this has been asked before; I've searched and found nothing related. Excuse me if this question is kinda stupid. This is my first post here.

I have the US versions of volumes 1 and 2 DVD sets of Futurama. After being into Futurama for a while now, the exotic 3D intro has grown on me and I can't stop watching it! One thing I've noticed though: some of the videos of the intro I've seen are a faster tempo than that of my DVDs and they're a couple seconds shorter, meaning they're slightly faster. This whole mumbo jumbo of the faster and slower intros confuses me. Can someone straighten this all out for me? Thanks.

I can only guess, and my guess even depends on what "movies" you saw.

Slackit and I found out that the Region 2 DVDs made for the European and Australian region are a little faster than the one produced for region 1 - north America.
It turns out that Region 2 are about 30 seconds to 1 minute faster, so that calculated down to the rather short intro could be the few seconds you talk about.

Technical reason for that is porbably that Futurama has been made for the NTSC format, using 30 pictures per second. Region 2 however uses the PAL format with only 25 pictures per seconds. In the converting process few pictures have been merged, but I guess that every now and then some pictures were even just taken out.

Thanks for the answer.

Just looked at my DVDs and they are NTSC format (I live in California, so it figures). Glad to know I have the version with the higher framerate.
