A Seymour appearence would probably be a momentary cameo like his brief fossilized appearence in 'The Sting'.

Ok, I've read through the whole thread and am caught up. Guess this happens when no new Futurama material causes you to put Futurama on the back burner for a revolving door of obsessions like Batman and Dragonball.

As far as I understand there's gonna be the 4 movies and then the new episodes in 2008 with the 4 movies eventually being spliced into individual episodes, Right?

Ralph said that Matt made sure he had total control of the series on CC. It's nice to hear that he's still being assertive about keeping full control and not letting the series fall into the hands of board executives like he did with Fox.

Someone said they heard a rumor that they're making the very last episode first but saving it for last to avoid having to end the series with unresolved plot points like they had to do last time. That's sounds like a very good contingency plan to have.

It's nice to hear that the first movie is nearing completion. I didn't read the leaked summary incase it is true so I don't know everything about it but I agree with the sentiment that bringing back Seymore wouldn't be a good move and would likely cheapen the effectiveness of the ending of Jurassic Bark.

Officer 1BDI wondered if Matt's increased involvment in Futurama would affect the Simpsons. As far as I know Matt hasn't worked on the Simpsons for a while now, plus the show has become a lost cause anyway (I personally think Matt knows how low the show has fallen and doesn't bother with it much because of that).

If so would that really be worth them mentioning? It sounds like more than that to me because I'm sure a large number of character which they haven't mentioned will make cameos too...

I agree with coldangel_1.
Bringing Seymore back for anything more more prolonged than a single ep, or in flashbacks would change the whole dynamic of the show.
Besides; we wouldn't want limit the writer's from inventing new and hilarious characters, would we?

The good lord willing (and my disposable income holds out), these 4 DVD movies/ 16 ep's will turn into the full-blown return of our favorite show.
Hey, if you're going to dream, dream big!

A new thread on Mr. West's forum seems to clarify things:

And the Futurama DVD movies, as it was clarified by Mr. Groening, are to be broken up and broadcast as the new episodes on Comedy Central.

Possible misprint? Maybe it should be...

Well... which is it? Because if we're getting BOTH then it'll add up to...
hang on... 4eps x 4movies = 16eps.... add that to the 13TV epis... that's...
FORTY-FIVE NEW EPISODES??!

No.... wait....

TWENTY-NINE NEW EPISODES!??!

Do we have some kind of clarifiaction to say if the 13 CC episodes and four DVD movies are actually seperate entities?

My guess is we won't find out until next year. It is really annoying not to know exactly what it is we're getting, but the fact we are getting something makes me happy beyond my wildest dreams...

i think we shouldn't hold our breaths, who knows what could happen in the next one or two years...

also what year are these eps being released?
2008 right?

Actually, CC gets the episodes in 2008... So my guess is that they'll play the original series first, and then, after that, continue with the new series. Or new eps. 'New series' just sounds a whole lot more joyous.

I'm not sure what you're getting at.      The post I linked to clearly says "as," and honestly that's the impression I've been under for several months now (ignoring that in reality, my opinion's worth jack shit).

I'd love to see new episodes outside of the DVD movies, but based on what I've been reading and hearing, I honestly believe we're only getting the movies which are then being reaired on CC in episode-sized chunks.  At least initially.

If there isn't an ongoing series *ad infinitum* after the DVD movies, then someone will get an earful of fresh coldangel rant, straight out of the carton.

Hmm. Never really saw 'Devil's Hands' as a cliffhanger exactly. I thought it summed-up nicely. But I do share your enthusiasm, albeit in a manner less cruel to the English language.

They were going to do a movie at the end of the series, but Fox keeps wanting more and more money to line their deep deep pockets. Matt Groening says there is no end in sight so there's nothing that is going to end it anytime snoon unless something bad happens to one of the main voice actors...

If anything the movie will make the series even more popular and it'll continue for even loooooooooooooooooooooooooooo onger...

I get the impression that no one, not even M. G. or CC execs know or have decided how long the future run of Futurama will be.  Maybe we can influence that for the better.  This show does seem to have a wide and deep fan base on the net and that must have played into the big money decision to produce something new, be it episodes or movies or both.  Individually we may feel we are small and insignificant, but if we all tell two friends and they tell two friends and so on and so on...

Now repeat after me: I solemly pledge to do my share to watch all broadcast episodes, including the re-runs, to buy as much of whatever is advertised as I can afford, to buy any new content on DVD as soon as it is released and to buy all the officially licensed merchandice (shirts, PC games, etc.).

Oh, and pray every night that Groening, Cohen, West, Sagal, DiMaggio, LaMarr, Tom, Lamarche, and anyone else important to the show live long and healthy lives.

From no one source I can name, I get the feeling MG currently intends to do the four movies/ sixteen eps (whatever) and out! Of course a lot can happen between now an the end of producing the movies...  ;)

Yes. I've been spreading the word by wearing a Bender T-shirt around town.

The thing I've noticed with classic TV shows that are kicked around in their early days and forced underground is that the fandom inevitably becomes cult, and cult fandoms are deeply entrenched. That entrenchment necessitated by the bad treatment the show suffered creates an unassailable wall of loyalty and intractibility, meaning the show will ALWAYS have a fanbase that will never give up on it.
The Simpsons has always been around and has never suffered a crisis of confidence, therefor Simpsons fans aren't driven in the same way - their unshakable loyalty isn't *required*.

Two things from Youtube...

Futurama returning promo
Al Gore saying he'll likely do work on Futurama if it returns, which he says it would. This is from maybe a year ago. I'm not sure.

So, in short, the Al Gore cameo news we've heard seems to be true. Also, it seems to be true that "new episodes" will appear on this "Comedy Central" place that I've never heard of. (sarcasm)

Good to see that PEEL's getting some people coming in because of the revival.
