The 26 eps thing could be two 13-ep seasons, if it were not A LIE!

And is it common to have 26-episode animation seasons? Seems a bit heavy going to me.

(Did you miss me? or notice I was gone :P)

To 1BDI: I was expressing myself at the news that 26 new episodes may come. WHAT DO YOU THINK I WAS CHEERING FOR???

Damn. I need a new avatar now - this is toooo confusing.

Also, read up, Foxxy. The 26 episodes announcements seem to have been a bit premature.

God...

I'm sorry if I came across as snitty, but I was genuinely wondering why you seemed so happy when the rumor was debunked two pages ago.  I didn't mean to upset you.

On that note, like Sil said, the 26 episode rumor was false.  Someone apparantly misinformed Billy West, and he was quickly corrected by David Cohen.   :(

False??? OMG! That's okay, 1BDI. I just can't belive that. I was just too excited to read the ENTIRE thread.

And Sil, you don't have to change your avatar. Just becuase that we have both the same dosn't mean that one of us should change it.

OMG, I believed it... What a bastard... (The person who made that rumor)

You're calling Billy West a bastard?

Well, I guess considering his latest project he should've seen it coming.  :p

Is anyone else (other than me) wishing that if only one of th rumors were true, that the episodes would be made instead of the movies?

It seems to be the general rule of thumb that 20-minute TV shows (let alone 40-minute TV shows) don't translate well into 90-120 minute feature-length films.  In fact, I can't think of any off hand that I enjoyed at all.  The 20-minute Futurama episode was perfect.  Any care to speculate on why the exec would be thinking of movies instead?

No, no I'm not calling him a bastard... GOD THIS IS SOOOO CONFUSING. Just screw what I said. I thought that someone else made it because I was confused of what 1BDI said. No offence.

BTW, Hearty_Femgurl, how the crap did you know I was here? (And I'm not mad, either, lol)

I rather enjoyed the Family Guy movie last year. Before watching it, I thought the same thing: that half hour TV shows dont translate well into feature films. But I was VERY impressed with the final product. Same goes for the South Park movie, which is an example of the franchise at it's peak.

I'd say don't poo poo it until after you've seen it. I mean, it is Futurama after all...

Spotted on amazon.com:

"...designed to bridge the gap between the original series and the forthcoming new series of TV adventures in 2007."

It isn't official, I just thought I'd post it to piss you all off.  :p

Well, that Time Bender graphic novel better have damned good artwork. I mean, for regular comics, sure, the kinda crappy art is fine by me, but if it's a bridge gap filler, then damnit, I expect the best artists on it!

Who do you trust more? Idiots like Fox, Underpaid actors who lounge about in their pants like Billy West? The bored and extremely gullible people at Amazon? Or us. The Futurama community who have been quite correctly dashing the hopes of all and sundry for some years now. We've said "that won't happen", and lo and behold... it fails to happen. Compared to anybody else, we've a hundred-percent success rate at prognostication of all Futurama related news.

We know. They won't. That's not what goes on the special features section. Special features sections are nice and cheap: they're a bunch of deleted scenes, and Billy West laughing at Matt Groening for 30 minutes because he made a fart joke. Episodes are not cheap and cost five to six hundred thousand dollars to produce.

Don't take this personally, Donny boy, but you might want to sit down and think about it before you get excited about these things. We here at PEEL, we're the ones who've been sitting down and thinking realistically for a long time now. We do know what we're talking about. And by "we", I mean Nixorbo, Teral, and a few select others.

As a rough guide, don't trust popplers, curstaceans, or delivery boys. They've not been here long enough, or been shot down in flames often enough to realise that life is exceedingly cruel, and nowhere is this more evident than the cut-throat and brutal world of animated television programmes. Just look at the Transformers. Where are they now, huh?

I'll tell you where they are. Optimus prime is working as a rent boy in Manhatten, and the decepticons are busy dismantiling the others in Japan to build PS3's. That's where they are now.

Remember, Donald. One day the decepticons will come for you. Not because you matter, but because they just plain don't like you.

Edited because for all my mighty deductive reasoning and idiot-proof logical programming, I can't spell.

TNUK says it all...

I've only been here a few short months and I've gotten my hopes and expectations rasied and dashed at least three times.

Granted, I think that Billy West would love to see Futurama make a triumpant reappearance, but unfortunately he's cried 'Wolf' too many times.  This is no slam to him, but anything that comes from Billy should be taken with a grain of salt (and a slice of lime with a shot of Tequila).  Only if we hear something from FOX, DXC or The Almighty Matt himself, the series is dead as far as I'm concerned.

What I've always been curious about is when noobs join PEEL, why are they so oblivious to everything? I mean I get that about 90% don't realize this isn't a chatroom but I mean I've like never seen a noob on here who knew what he was talking about before he got here. I know we've had some exceptions like Ralph and SiliconFry but still, a lot of them are clueless. And I'm well aware that when I joined I treated this board like a chatroom and was a complete idiot too. Just a thought though.

As for Billy West, I really don't care. Everytime we've heard something about a new season or movie we've never heard anything official to clarify. I do like to think that there is hope but it's all rumors. I don't believe rumors unless I truly see some proof. Billy I think is just as eager to go back to Futurama as we want him to be and that's why he keeps jumping the gun. It happens. I think people need to cool it and not totally blame him for telling us things that could happen. It's partly the person's fault too because they also jump the gun thinking that it's true. I'm not calling anyone an idiot for thinking this I just think that you need to look at this from a different perspective before you get mad.

@ Donald:

If you've been lurking for any length of time, then you know that TNUK is vastly intelligent, extremely literate and could make irritate Ghandi to the point of kneeing him in the groin.

That said, I was once a Poppler and a Delivery Boy - I'm up to Professor now and still don't know a fraction of the things that the old-timers like TNUK, Archie 2K, Winna, Teral, Nix, VF, Tweek and many others know.

Don't take things personally.  Life's too short.

@ SpaceDal11 - thanks for the kudo's thrown my way.

Wow. All of you give such wise words, and I can fully agree. After Billy's first "gun jump", I really didn't care anymore about the rumors. I knew that if I did, my hopes and dreams would be crushed. So all of those who have hope really need to work on their scowls. There can be no hope. Whatsoever. End. Of. Story.

@ Space: Honestly I caught on real quick. Now, I hate chatboards.  :D I still feel a n00b, even if I'm [possibly] not. [I consider myself the suckiest PEELer with a custom avatar. I may not be winning a PEELie or any other of the holy awards, but I'm sure I'm better than most newbies.. from time to time]
