Quoted for the lazy people:

Quote
I'm thisclose to selling my show--''Billy Bastard--Amateur Human Being,'' And the other good news is that they're doing 26 new episodes of ''Futurama'' for TV and we're hammering out the deal now.The original plan was to have the DVD's first but that's no longer the case.I'm totaly jammed dude.

So are the 4 movies scrapped, or are they slated for release after this new development?

Or is Billy just jerking around the obsessive fan cult demographic?

yeah, i thought about that too. i mean it's good, no it's great, extremelly great that 26 episodes will be made but it would be like extremelly super-awsome if the movies were to be released afterwards.

Is it wrong that I'd rather have the multiple movies over the 26 episodes?   :hmpf:

That "original plan" line is throwing me off as well.  Are both movies and episodes being discussed, but now the episodes have taken priority?  Or have the movies been scrapped, as Nixorbo pondered?

Billy just keeps claiming greater and greater things, I hope at least one of them is corroborated by someone who actually calls the shots

At this rate…
------------
Billy Claim-o-meter

Talks with Fox
Possible DVD Movie
4 Definite DVD movies
->26 episodes and possible DVD movies <- you are here
3 new seasons and the DVD movies
4 new seasons, the DVD movies, and a theme park ride.
6 new seasons, movie with theatrical release, and a theme park.
7.4 new seasons, theatrical trilogy, a theme park, and the revelation that the show was never actually cancelled, and there are 4 backlogged preempted seasons in a vault in downtown LA.
-------------

Still, I hope it’s true.  Here’s to substantiation! *raises glass*

Not to mention his various claims of owning a time machine. I'm sure he said something about selling timeshares of a luxary beach house. He gets it now and we get it in the year 3000.

im sceptical about it now the dvd movies seemed possible they may get a family guy kind of thing done to them , might be hard getting some of the crew after a few years but by following some of their historys after the show they could use work

Hmmm, the enthusiastic part of me want to follow Venus around in circles screaming "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EE...".

The realistic part of me know that will give me another restraining order.

The cynical part of me want to hear a confirmation from either Groening or FOX before I believe it.

Unfortuantely my cynical part have a substantial 15:1 lead over my enthusiastic part.

I would love very much for this to be true, but isn't this the third time that Billy has announced it's coming back?  Sure, he may be right there on the cutting edge of Futurama news, but sadly, so far nothing he's said has shown any indication of being true.  I'll believe it when there is something official (like, say, a press release), and get excited when I see the first commercial.  Something a bit more concrete.

DATELINE:  Orlando, Florida.

Paramedics responded to a call from a local movie theater - an employee identified only as 'Venus' apparently died in a burst of spontaneous human combustion.  Witnesses state the young lady was seen running around screaming, "It's coming back!  EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" before bursting into flames.

A Rememberance of Venus will be held at Orbiting Meadows Cemetary.  Friends and associates worldwide are expected to attend.

This is the best news I have ever heard!  Even though nothing has been confirmed yet.  We'll probably hear something about it this summer.  If Futurama comes back either way, be it movies or new episodes, I'm all for it.

Until it's been confirmed, I'll keep hoping and praying it's true.  If Family Guy made a comeback, Futurama surely can.  After all Futurama and Family Guy are the two top rated shows on Adult Swim.  Let's all hope and pray something will be confirmed.

Like other people said, can't get *too* excited yet but that's still great to hear.

That's what I'm thinking - FOX probably won't announce it until the spring/summer when they start announcing new shows.  It will probably take several months to a year to get things ramped up for production - getting the animators back, the script writers and the voice actors.

I just hope that it doesn't jump the shark when it does come back - the new Family Guy eps are lame in my opinion.  Still, if Groening and Cohen have control, it should be great.

I just hope that the 'real' last episode gives us a more concrete answer to the Fry/Leela question.

this is absolutely awesome news!  Too bad I can't believe a word of it until I here an official word.  Even if it's all true, the movies and the new episodes, the 'original plan' as BW put it has changed many many times.  Who knows how many more times it will change, and how much time will pass, before anything actually becomes concrete...
