Or, perhaps it's some kind of anti-lubricant. Yeah, that's it! 'cause with those large dark-matter burning ovens you can't regulate the generated power. Thus, the coke syrup is used to slow down gears or something like that... That would also explain this oil-dipstick-like indicator!
