Anybody know the name of that song they played in the "Deep South" episode where Fry and the gang go to the bottom of the ocean and meet the mermaids from Atlanta. The song was some kind of folk/rock song about being way down under the ocean. Also if you know who performed the song that would be useful too.

Thanks dudes!

To Its Credit: "The Deep South" is one of the few episodes that FOX repeated outside their normal schedule sequence in the US.  "Brannigan Begin Again" was another.  I think "A Head In The Polls" was a third.  Can anyone think of any others?

Yeah, they once aired "Why Must I be a Crustacean in Love" on a Wednesday night.

Anyone want to post the full lyrics to the original song?  It sounds interesting and I'd probably get the jokes if I knew the original.  Was that the reference to "The Magician"?

The lyrics:

No Angels & Donovan
Atlantis

Way down below the ocean
Where I wanna be she may be

The continent of Atlantis was an island
Which lay before the great flood
In the area we now call the Atlantic Ocean.
So great an area of land,
That from her western shores
Those beautiful sailors journeyed
To the South and the North Americas with ease,
In their ships with painted sails.
To them East Africa was a neighbour,
Across a short strait of sea miles.
The great Egyptian age is
But a remnant of The Atlantian culture.

Like a child who's running wild
Sinking deeper down the line
I close my eyes to see the light

Way down below the ocean
Where I wanna be she may be
Way down below the ocean
Where I wanna be she may be

The antediluvian kings colonised the world
All the Gods who play in the mythological dramas
In all legends from all lands were from far Atlantis.
Knowing her fate, Atlantis sent out ships to all corners of the Earth.
On board were the Twelve: The poet, the physician,
The farmer, the scientist,
The magician and the other so-called Gods of our legends.
Though Gods they were - And as the elders of our time choose to remain blind
Let us rejoice sing - dance and ring in the new age Hail Atlantis!

Like a child who's running wild
Sinking deeper down the line
I close my eyes to see the light

Way down below the ocean
Where I wanna be she may be
Way down below the ocean
Where I wanna be she may be

Like a child who's running wild
Sinking deeper down the line
I close my eyes to see the light

Way down below the ocean
Where I wanna be she may be
Way down below the ocean
Where I wanna be she may be
Way down below the ocean
Where I wanna be she may be

My antediluvian baby I wanna see you some day
I wanna see you some day.
Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up!

Way down below the ocean
Where I wanna be she may be

Donovan - Atlantis (without NoAngels)

The Original was like this:
The continent of Atlantis was an island which lay before the great flood in the area we now call the Atlantic Ocean.
So great an area of land, that from her western shores those beautiful sailors journeyed to the South and the North Americas with ease, in their ships with painted sails.

To the East Africa was a neighbour, across a short strait of sea miles.
The great Egyptian age is but a remnant of The Atlantian culture.
The antediluvian kings colonised the world
All the Gods who play in the mythological dramas
In all legends from all lands were from fair Atlantis.

Knowing her fate, Atlantis sent out ships to all corners of the Earth. On board were the Twelve: The poet, the physician, the farmer, the scientist, The magician and the other so-called Gods of our legends.
Though Gods they were -
And as the elders of our time choose to remain blind Let us rejoice and let us sing and dance and ring in the
new Hail Atlantis!

Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be,
Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be,
Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be.

Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be,
Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be.

My antediluvian baby, oh yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah, I wanna see you some day
My antediluvian baby, oh yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah, My antediluvian baby,
My antediluvian baby, I love you, girl,
Girl, I wanna see you some day.

My antediluvian baby, oh yeah
I wanna see you some day, oh
My antediluvian baby.

My antediluvian baby, I wanna see you
My antediluvian baby, gotta tell me where she gone I wanna see you some day
Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, oh yeah
Oh glub glub, down down, yeah
My antediluvian baby, oh yeah yeah yeah yeah

So just cut out the Sirens' singing:
Like a child who's running wild
Sinking deeper down the line
close my eyes to see the light

in the lyrics above and you have the original

When I first saw the title of this thread, the only song I could remember was Bender singing "Dueling Banjos".  Oh, that would have been a riot.
