Ahh you're killing me Zoidyzoid.  This quote is so . . . cryptic!  I figured the easiest way to figure it out would be to decipher the name, so after lenghty manputations and a long visit to TLZ -> voices section, I cannot figure out who even spoke the line, let alone figure out what it is.  I made myself sad now.

For me that decrypts to:

If this game involves inventing another cyphered message, someone else may take my turn.

I must admit this is fun...

"every little thing reminds me of enos" -mildred

This one was tougher than previous ones, no small words or easy cribs. But you made a mistake - Ds in the quote and the Ds in Mildred were repaced with different letters. I had thuoght his name was spelled "enis" but checked the subtitles and you were right.

Here's another:
"K XTLVLT JZYZYZ-VBZDGTLI LYLTFW JZTE RZIL VTGR OGVH."-FHLYOLT

[note to self: in the future, refresh the page before posting if I spend 20 minutes cracking a cryptogram.]
oh, and space case: go back to page 1 and there's links to tools to encrypt them automatically, so all you have to do is pick a quote, hit a button, and post it.

[Edit to avoid super-annoying-triple-post]
Sorry this one's so short, but it's probably gettable just through a quick glance if you're familiar with the quote... I can't get any of those programs working for me, so that's why I'm keeping it brief.

“if you do things right, no one will think you’ve done anything at all”
-remains of a computer that collided with god

I actually got the quote itself pretty quickly (although I thought it was 'know' or 'be sure' or something rather than 'think'? I might be wrong), then spent quite a while decyphering the name!

New quote coming soon.

...you dink, i just spent half an hour decording that and was about to post it -_-

and yeah, that quote is wrong, it should be

"When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all."

The name was actually the last thing i decoded in that one. I think you could have just said "God" and been safe, because that's what Bender thinks he saw

"Do I preach to you while you're lying stoned in the gutter?" - Bender

That's two so far!  This one is pretty easy, but I liked it and couldn't resist.  Also, to spice this game up a bit, I propose that we also have to guess what episode the quote is from - I think it'd be pretty fun that way, what do you all say?

Very sorry for the misquote, I thought I remembered that one right...

I got the next quote, but only 2 letters from the name are in it and I don't know who you're quoting as saying it! If I figure it out before someone else does I guess I'll repost

I'd be OK with guessing the ep name too. In fact, if we drop off the names, it'd make them a little harder but we could quote majors like Fry and Farnsworth without giving away too much..

That's a great idea Gopher.  Obviously, most of the good quotes are from major characters, but cryptographing their names nearly gives it away.  If there are no objections, I think we should cut out the name of the speaker and just try and guess the episode and the speaker.

If everyone agrees, that'll just leave one question: quotes that appear multiple times, or are spoken by multiple characters, I think any correct answer should be accepted, not just the one that the poster was thinking of. Generally not a problem, most of the good lines were one-timers, and the catch phrases are all too obvious to make good cryptograms anyway.

Oh, and delayed response to FF, I thought it was funnier to attrib it to "remains of a computer that collided with god"   :) tho being so "precice" with the name and getting the quote wrong is a bit ironic

Sure! And also, I'd like to know if you've omitted punctuation, or if there actually isn't any in that particular quote.

Also, my two cents on the matter of changing the game rules is that personally I'd prefer it left the way it is. I'm just one man though, and I'm willing to gracefully accept the fact that I'll likely be outvoted  ;)

Well first of all, there is no punctuation in this quote.  Second, the hint is that it's from the pilot episode.  Third, only three people have voted on the rule change, so I'm going to wait it out and see if someone else has an opinion.

Well, since everyone's having so much trouble, the line is "You gotta do what you gotta do" but I haven't gone back to figure out the name of the character who he's attributing it to, I just know it's not Leela or the cop robot from Space Pilot 3K (who has a short, 3-letter name if I recall correctly)

How about this, as a compromise: With more recognizable quotes from principle characters, you don't have to give the name in the quote (say if it's by one of the main 6: Fry, Zoidburg, Leela, Farnsworth, Bender, and Amy. If it's any other character you still give the name in the quote.

I'll agree, but I'd like to add that Hermes should count as a main character too because he has some doozies. =)  Also, the name of the cop you are thinking of is URL (pronounced Earl).

Furthermore, I should have been more specific with my quote.  It was spoken by someone, but the particular time I'm referring to is written on a poster.  The suspense is killing me for a new quote to decrypt.

I don't recall this line... there were a lot of un-changed letters in that one... plus bastard seems to have been mis-spelled "basterd" (or it was a mistake encoding it) so there's a CHANCE I'm wrong but I don't think so, so here's another

Nibbler loves crocodiles, they're his favorite snack! ~Leela

and i think the line goes something like:

Wait, our pet Nibbler loves fresh crocodile, it's his favorite treat! ~Leela (I second that Emotion)

maybe next time if you are unsure of how the quote goes exactly, you could doublecheck it by googling it, that's what i always do

I did sort of do that, but a quick mental check rather than a full list.

To clarify: the L is my guess at the last letter (I can see now that at a glance it looks like the L is second-last and the '?' is last).

We didn't officially agree to switch the rules to require the ep to be guessed yet. We should keep track in here. By my count there was 1 person who said they wanted to switch, one who wanted it to stay the same, and two (including me) who don't really care, though I'd lean towards not changing unless everyone else wants to. There's plenty of "guess the quote" games around already, I'd be happy to keep this one different.
