If you will be in Los Angeles this Sunday, Oct. 9, Billy West (Fry, Dr. Zoidberg, Zapp Brannigan, Professor Farnsworth) will be signing autographs at the monthly Comic Book Convention at the Shrine Auditorium.

(There may be a small charge for the autograph to raise money for hurricane relief.)

A lot of stars (even lesser ones, like bit players in "Star Wars" films) charge ridiculous amounts of money for autographs.  Billy West does it (essentially) for free to help hurricane relief.  Just more proof that Billy West is totally %$#@ing awesome.

Yeah, wish I was near LA too.  Nothing ever happens in Colorado.  Well, ya know, except for school shootings and crazed men killing their families in hotels.

dang it, why do things never happen where I live?  I'm right near DC, and yet nobody important ever comes here.  Even the president ignores us, and he lives here!

Nah, we are both in the same situation. So we both have the same right to complain, but the other problem is that I am only 13 years old.

Damnit! I can't go, since A. I've got no money and B. My mom would kill me if I used a credit card.

Edit also, C. My mom hates LA, and California in general, since she thinks as soon as we go, there'll be an earthquake 7_7  :nono:

I live in Oakland now.  I won't even have time to drive to LA anyway, considering I have classes to teach.  And Zoidy, I empathize with you.  My Mom hates California, too.  She prefers to stay in South Carolina.  How can anyone hate California?

I certainly hope someone here goes to LA to see Billy West and get some info on those Futurama movies.

Very much so, Kurt. If anyone and I mean anyone gets any info outta him about the movie, share it or I will destroy you/ you'll face dire consequences. In other news, I've got some scanned in picures (finally) on my thread. The stupid program came up a day after I asked it to...but who gives a crap?

I just got back from the convention. Fantastic.  And it wasn't too crowded so I actually got a chance to talk to Mr. West for a few minutes.  He is incredibly, incredibly nice.  He was happy to satisfy my request for voices (he did all the Futurama ones, plus Ren and Stimpy).

So I asked him about the movie, and he said something like "I sorta jumped the gun on that one."  He said that as far as he knows they're still working on the details of how to finance it.

You shoulda told him to talk to Matt and tell him to sell loads of shirts/actionfigures/hats. That'd finance the movie real good  ;)

Well, that's kinda distressing and depressing.  Getting the straight-to-DVD movie will probably be an uphill battle; it's obvious that FOX has no love for the program - the fact that Futurama has beat Leno and Letterman in ratings when on the Cartoon Network shows that this program is a powerhouse if promoted properly.  Unfortunately, FOX did its best to kill it, and it will probably stay dead.

Depressing.

Dont be too quick to loose the faith Snart.  Its a good sign that FOX is still at least interested enough to talk about funding.

Totally... [Zoidberg]I'm so into you[/Zoidberg Right on. FOX does more than its share to kill it... Just like people with suicide booths. That's not the point though. I agree it could be a powerhouse, and I think FOX fails to see that...pity too..

Okay...people are forgetting that the Fox network people are not the same as the Fox Film and Home Video people.  Who knows?  Maybe a lot of them loved Futurama.  Presuming that this is a straight-to-dvd thing, there's little reason why the executives at the network would have much to do with funding or blocking this movie.

If you read some of Groenings statements this summer he is proposing DVD's but IF Fox wants to air them as episodes that would be fine with him.

I think the direct-to-DVD movies are going to happen.  Sure, it will take a while, however have some faith.  If Billy West and Matt Groening say the movies are going to happen, the movies will come to be.  Futurama isn't dead.
