Patric M. Verrone was elected to head the Writers Guild of America, West, winning a 69% majority of 2,012 ballots cast. Verrone's credits include writing for Futurama, Muppets Tonight, and Rugrats. In his campaign, Verrone stated a need to better organize animation, cable, and reality TV writers.

It means one thing for Futurama: it had even better writers than we thought it had. And we thought it had some pretty good writers. Congrats to him.

Yay! This is great, we all knew that the Futurama staff was brilliant! ^_^ It always gives me warm fuzzies whenever I see a Futurama writer's name in the credits of a show I'm watching, and I'm glad that Mr. Verrone was elected as the head of the WGA (West? So I'm assuming this means that there's a WGA East?) Hmm. Well, great news indeed!
