I really loved this episode. I thought it was hilarious. The song, at the end, when Leela says something like: you tried your best, and some of these gorillas are ok!...cracks me up, and i don't know why.
Also, when Bender breaks into the people's chimney is wicked funny! it makes me laugh all three times i've watched it.

I guess I'd have to see it again. She seemed a little off tune.

Musicals are so last week. Songs are cool, but can get old fast...I don't want them forcing in lame songs every week just so they can make a crappy soundtrack album. I think the rate they are going at now is good...one or two musical numbers per year, plus a good amount of mini-songs like the Poppler/Grunka Lunka type stuff.

you gotta admit that Zoidberg's version of "Jesus Christ Superstar" would be really funny

I've finally seen it.

Some people rated this episode as A+, so I was expecting an unforgetable episode. Well, it was good, funny as every episode. Great gags and plenty of jokes, but I missed "something". The plot is a bit messy... I mean, the scene of Fry and Leela entering in the Santa's lair, and the chase aren't proper for the beginning of the episode. In addition, the song are usually at the nearly-end, and the ending with Santa and Bender together seemed unnecessary to me.

I give it a B

I LOVED IT! One of the best Futurama episodes ever! I knew FOX was going to put the parental advisory thing before the ep and rate it TV-14 but my question is: Why the hell didn't they do that in 2000?!?!? Anyway, the best part was where Bender arrives at the first house and talks to himself when seeing the chimmeny blocked off by metal bars.
Bender: Duh, gee Bender, how we gonna get through these bars?... I don't know, moron, suppose I bend 'em?... Duh, OK.
GREEEEEEEAAAAAATTTT. Also, check out the guide page for this ep at www.geocities.com/shadowstar_freakboy/guide3acv03.html
Wait... I don't know how to get a link on a post!

I thought it was well worth the wait.  Very funny, I'm still lol.  Perhaps the disclaimer, and postpone was due to the Zoidberg jesus.  Religion is a touchy subject, but who knows.

Nah. I'm sure they would have edited the 10 seconds of air time that Zoidy gets if that was the reason.

I think it had to do with Santa tearing up children's insides with bicycle guns and the year old corpse of grandpa. Add that episode to little kids and you get horrified little kids.

Did anyone else notice that in the elevator scene Fry totally had his hand on Leela's ass?

I thougt the episode was very good but far from "Xmas Story"... And in Xmas Story Leela doesn't sing bad it is Fry that sings like a walrus with a frozen throat! You must have mixed them together, *wondering how that is possible*

in the elevator scene where they are trying to escape santa lair. its at the part where the warhead is stuck in the door and the three are huddled in the back with leela desperatly hitting the down button. Look at the placement of Fry's left hand.

Ok, now i've seen it, nu the hand isn't on her ass. It's more on her hip...

And BTW it should be sore throat, not frozen throat (in my last post), my fault   :nono:

Hot! I'm still saying it's more hip than ass...but still, that is way too sexual. I can see why they had to air this at 9:30.

Way too sexual? Oh, c'mon, I would be cowering like that, too, if I was in that situation. Maybe it would be more sexual if Fry was facing foward, but he wasn't, so there.

I'm gonna get my head chopped off for opening up this old thread but I'm duty bound to mention this, since nobody else seems to care...: :-)

Not only was the song a masterpiece, but the rest of Christopher Tyng's score was amazing. This guy performs above and beyond the call of duty - produce a cheap and cheerful soundtrack for a cartoon - every single episode and it's such a thankless job!

Well, somebody appreciates your hard work, mate. :-)

Okay, let the flame war begin. ;-)

Actually, I'd like to thank you for reopening this.  I've been too lazy to hunt it up.

This was a pretty good episode.  Slightly sacreligious towards the end (I help those who help themselves!), but that's ok.  The premise was pretty funny, and Bender did an admirable job getting the tar beaten/shot/torched out of him.  Kwanzaa-bot was pretty funny (the traditional Kwanzaa book).  Overall, I thought it was above average, though not one of my favorites.

I don't think it was on intentional on Fry's part, but I bet he remembered the moment fondly when he had time to reminisce...

Am I the only one who gets a shippy vibe from that scene, what with Fry kind of shielding Leela with his body and Leela with a protective arm over Fry's back?

Also, Fry looks kinda yummy in that tan parka, no?

Now, if only Fry and Leela had been next to each other in the fear-huddle at the end...it was really unforgiveable that they weren't.  *grumble, grouch*

Fry with arm wrapped around Leela protectively:

It's Leela's arm that's protective; Fry's hand is on Leela's hip/ass area, which started the whole debate in the first place.  But Fry's body is sort of shielding Leela.  Which is not unlike the first Xmas ep, where Fry positioned himself between Leela and Santa as they are backing away....

Now, if they could have just squeezed Fry between Leela and Hermes in the final huddle, it would have been the best Xmas ever...ah, well.  ;)
