Hi! I'm new to this fansite. I recently got the DVD boxsets to all 4 series of Futurama, just finished watching Series 2.

I've got a few things to ask:

1. Why was Futurama cancelled?

2. I have heard talk of a movie or two (or three). Is this confirmed?

a. If yes, will it be an extension of the current story, or a completely standalone story?

3. Is it only me who wants to see Fry and Leila fall in love? I've seen the last episode, and the ending is so... inconclusive.

4. Can you recommend me some good Futurama fansites?

5. Is it just me, or is the last volume of Series 2 a bit crud? After some amazing episodes, the last few seemed a bit gimmicky, and didn't quite have the same involvement.

Futurama is currently my favourite TV series because it's funny, but has a great storyline, and actually keeps you interested in the chracters.

Thanks.

1.  Technically?  Bad ratings.  Actually?  FOX was not a fan of it or the freedom Matt Groening demanded in producing it.

2.  Not 100% confirmed.  Billy West seems to think it is a go, and Matt Groening has unofficially mentioned at least one movie as a go, but there has been no official announcement. So keep your fingers crossed.  The plot of this could-be movie is unknown at this time

3. You are a ‘shipper.’  There are tons of them around here, roaming free like the majestic buffalo... or something.   You are not alone.  You’ll see their relationship develop if you watch all of seasons 3 and 4, but don’t expect anything drastic, as you've seen it's all inconclusive.

4.  Uh... this one for forums, www.gotfuturama.com  for news and info, www.futurama-madhouse.com.ar  for fan art and fiction, http://www.ssfuturama.com.ar  for flash games.

5.  Season 2 is probably my least favorite of the four if I had to choose, so I’m inclined to agree a bit, but every season had it’s high and low points.  The end of season two had War is the H-word, AOI 1, and Mother’s Day, all spectacular episodes.

Welcome to PEEL, KyanVrezpor and enjoy your stay here.  I'll find the FAQ if you give me a minute... or maybe someone else will be so kind.

I totally agree on that. Welcome to PEEL   :)

Ehh.. here is the PEELers' FAQ, JBERGES talked about. It's filled with useful stuff about PEEL, like usage of its UBB codes and few quidelines and such. A nice reading   :)

Enjoy your stay here.

edit: Shipper comes from relationship. Meaning that you really enjoyed them being together. It's part of the PEEL-slang  ;)

"Shipper:" noun.  Short for "Relationshipper."  One who wants to see the relationships in the show expounded and furthered.  This usually refers to Fry and Leela, but there are some Fry-Amy shippers as well.

Is there such thing as an anti-shipper? Someone who doesn't want to see them together?

I guess it's just me being sentimental... a sucker for romantic storylines. They don't do them well enough any more. Even if the last episode was a cheesy wedding scene, I would be happy. If there ever is a true last episode.

I loved the way they ended the most recent last episode.

Some yes...either because they just don't care for that part of the show, or because putting them together would change the dynamic on the show too much and cause it to "jump the shark", meaning go bad (characters getting together is a common "jump the shark" category for shows; see jumptheshark.com if you haven't).  The latter can still be a shipper though, provided that their preference is simply for the characters to get together at the very end of the series (or movie or whatever) instead of not wanting them together at all.  I personally enjoy the "shippy" episodes but do fall into the category of not wanting them officially "together" until the very final end of these characters' stories (which, if they get made, would probably be the movies, though there is talk that the movies might revive the show as well), as the dynamic of the show would probably be altered too much by a major change like that.

In any case, welcome aboard!  And great to see more people getting into this great show through the dvds.
