They are keeping the story/game genre pretty tight; from what I can tell from the david x. interview, he doesn't know exactly what is going on with it.  One of the writers for the show is writing for the game... but that doesn't mean that much as he might be the worst writer; that and usually the writers just type out the script that everyone decides on.

No SS have been released... I think the best we could hope for is (as much as I don't like them) some sort of adventure/point and click type game, or an interactive movie type.  I haven't seen any good games come out of the simpson's; the last one that I know of was simpson's boxing, which was pretty bad from what I could tell (although some of the chars from futurama were in the crowd, which was nice).

I really really hope they don't make it a jumping platform game, or a horrible FPS.  Maybe a chain of minigames would be ok... such as the video game in cyclops built for 2, or fly the PE ship around or something.

I don't have my hopes terribly high, most games in general suck, and making a game based off a tv show won't make it good.

Sexy bitch J. Stewart Burns is involved with the story for the game, at least. Even if he's the worst joke-writer, at least it should have an ok story, and the characters will be consistent with the actual show.

I actually wouldn't mind a platformer type game. Maybe something like Conker's Bad Fur Day. I've never played that, but I like the idea of having some good action-packed levels combined with crazy characters and comedy bits.

I think the game should test the players different abilities by combining genres. I think it would be great if the game was written in a simular way to The Simpsons episode "Trilogy of Error" meaning you could revisit previous parts of the game.

Wow, Otis, that's actually an awesome idea for a game. There could be a variety of things you can do as the first character, that could dramatically influence the story of the second and third characters, creating dozens of different gameplay scenarios. Someone get to work on that.

Didn't David X say something about seeing a clip of Fry running around a city?  So I'm guessing it is going to be a bland action/adventure platformish game.  Along the lines of a GEX game. :-/

Aswell as using the P.E. Ship to travel around they could also use the tubes in New New York, maybe use them to get into locked buildings etc. I would also like to see references to Futurama episodes in various forms, like quotes and characters.

Does anyone know if the people doing the voices for the game are the same people? I hope so.

Question: What will the game be playable with? PC, Gameboy, XBox, Cube, PS2... etc?

Also, the Simpsons Virtual Springfield is an awesome game, but it's not really a game in the conventional sence, its more just exploring, witht the odd mini game.

The official Xbox website used to have Futurama the game listed as an upcoming title.  So either it will be Xbox exclusive or probably come out for PS2.  GameCube or portable version perhaps but I'm doubtful.

Welcome, RootY. (as if Futurefreak's welcome ain't enough  ;) ) I've heard speculation of a game coming out sometime for GBA and PS2, but all I've read on it were two paragraphs. It seems that developers are already working on it though. Let's hope they use a good game engine so you can seamlessly mix platforming action with something like FPS or tactical turn-based action.

An older article said that the game genre was adventure, fully 3d point 'n click.  But, that would not work very well on a GBA... if they do it for xbox, they might as well do it for computer, as they are extremely similar.  It depends on how well the company designing it with the different hardwares.  ps2 is like the ps1, both overly difficult to program on, compared to most OS's, to make a game (mac is fairly easy to write on, so is windows, with directx, linux/unix is not too bad either).  I am not sure about game cube, it is too new for me to have had a look at it, but I assume it is similar to n64... which had major memory problems, getting stuff to work (not as bad as ps1 or ps2 though, from personal experience).  xbox is very similar to developing for windows/directx, as it was designed for it, but that really just makes an xbox a wacky computer.  Anyway, my point is, if they are unexperienced, they might tend towards xbox, if they have equal experience directx and ps2 programming, I can't say who they would go for.  Myself, I would go for directx, as it is much much much easier.

I would rather have it be on computer than a game console, if they are making it adventure.  I have never seen an even 1/2 decent adventure game on a console (adventure as in 3d point in click myst/gabriel knight/watch a movie, rather than the "nintendo adventure game", such as link).

How many TV licensed games actually turn out well though?  *cough* The Simpsons.

But I guess we can hope.

The Simpsons arcade game rocked. See, the problem with most other Simpsons games comes from the fact that it's usually not a good idea to port a TV show into a game if it does not have an overall theme or story in the show. Not unless you have the same writers from the show working on the storyline for the game.

I would think it'll be pretty boring if you control Fry for most of the game. You should be able to swap and collect party members as you move along. The story should branch out in different paths depending on which characters you pick.

a long time  ago in an forgotten article i read that it will be released in all formats, XBox, Gamecube, PS2 and PC, but lately many companys has taken decisions like take appart the PC as game plattform,

i continue guessing that an Athlon 1 Ghz or higer with a GForce 2/3 and 256mb RAM can kick the ass of the XBox.....

Uh, a 3D adventure should be great, i mean, with puzzles, many dialogues , like HALF-LIFE (run across a 3D world using items, speaking with people, etc) , but without blood and shoots , i hope that they don`t make a fool with the history.

I think it would be good if the game included some mini games which would make a refreshing break from the main plot. I also think that part of the game should involve going into the internet just like in the episode "Biyclopse".

From Ign.com
Slurm Not Included
We may see Futurama hit the Game Boy Color and Advance…sometime in the future.
Swedish game developer UDS (Unique Development Studios) has announced that it has acquired the rights to develop games based on the Fox animated series Futurama.
UDS will co-publish a variety of Futurama titles with Fox Interactive across all platforms, including handhelds. While the deal doesn't announce any specific systems, we think that a Game Boy Color or Advance version is a shoo-in.

The downside? The first title isn't expected to ship until the first half of 2002. A year and a half wait to liquor-up Bender in a Game Boy title…that's just too darn long! I wanna do it now!

I'm a hard core gamer.

Actually, the GameCube is said BY THE DEVELOPERS (that develope on every system) to be the easiest one to do it for.

Nintendo learned from last time (N64), so they made it easier. Neversoft had Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 on GameCube running in only 3 weeks. And it takes around usually 4 months to "port" a game from another system.

Um......it's 2002. Not even a word about the game. Any thoughts on that it is coming out in like December?

I'd kinda like to see a racing game, maybe not like the new Simpsons Road Rage (which I haven't played) but something along those lines.  I recently beat a game, Carmageddon 2, that included running over people and wrecking cars as part of the game.  I'd sure like to pick a driver and make the game include destroying the others.  Maybe Kif could finally extract some revenge!

AHAHAHA at last!

I seen this done by cheap companies to just buy the right to make a game of a popular tv show, make a really poor quality game (eg. Simpsons Wrestling) then watch the money pour in.  I KNOW, I KNOW you probably already knew this, but hey, some people are pretty dumb yah know!  :puke:

Good choise, I have completed nearly all the Carmageddon series, the only one I havn't completed is TDR 2000, the souped up VW Camper that you get for completing Carmageddon 2 is lush. Anyway, although I love those games, I don't think it would work with Futurama.

No, you're probably right, but I know I'd pay for it in a heartbeat.  I only have Carmageddon 2: Carpocalyse Now...but I'm hoping to get the third installment soon off my bro.  Maybe a future version will allow for skins like half-life and such, now THAT'D be cool!
