You could set your cryogenic tube to 2007 (I think that's the snooze feature) and see if it's available when you wake up.
I think the hang up is probably money, just a mere few million $. I recall someone credible source saying something about they (Fox) were looking into getting it together. And that was about the last word from official sources. My guess would be greenlighting is roughly the same as cash flow. Talking and walking and all that.

All I can say is to keep making noise; write to FOX (e-mails don't carry the same weight as snail mail); buy the DVD's (FOX understands money) and send a line to Cartoon Network for saving our favorite show (at least CN did advertise and promote the show - it has been on Adult Swim constantly for at least 2 year - no other show has been able to sustain that type of record).
In the 70's a small group of Trekkies got larger and larger until Paramount took notice. The history is clear - Trek is Paramount's largest cash cow of all time. A failed Sci-Fi series (cancelled before its time) that barely lasted 3 years has become so ingrained in American pop-culture that there is no escaping it. Will Futurama be able to become a juggeraught like Trek? No, but we may be able to get FOX to make a couple of DVD movies and maybe (just maybe) bring the series back to life.
Like Trek, Futurama is expensive to make. Granted, FOX killed the show by not promoting it, pre-empting it constantly, changing its timeslot, etc. WE (the fans) have to let FOX know that they can make money off of Futurama. Thankfully, the 'reality series' craze is now starting to die off, so the dirt cheap alternative to Futurama won't be there to muddy the waters of profibilty.
Remember Bjo Trimble - the savior of Star Trek - one voice that kept the series alive for a 3rd season and was instrumental in getting the movies made.

Originally posted by parasite?: Heh, probably posted here before, but I just went to best buy and picked up one of their free magazines that list all of the new things out on DVD. I was thumbing though it and found nearly two whole pages dedicated to Futurama. In it they had the IGN interview with Billy West and they mention the possibility of the movie. I am happy for the next 20 minutes. Scan it! Scan it! Scan it! Scan it! Scan it! Scan it! Scan it!

Originally posted by KurtPikachu2001: Okay, I just got back from the IMDB. It said that the Futurama direct to video movie will be out in 2007, and it already has a plotline and nobody believes it because the movie hasn't been greenlighted yet.
On Gotfuturama.com I'm getting more and more emails about IMDb "confirming" that the straight to DVD movie is going ahead. At first it only was the release date they listed (2007) and now, that they published a plot line. The plot summary on there was made up and submitted by the user Smitty on PEEL to prove that anything can get published on IMDb. Unless Groening and Cohen came up with the same idea, that plotline is NOT LEGIT as far as we know. When we get actual confirmation from sources to be trusted, we'll let you know...

maybe Im missing something, but havent we known about this article for more than a month now? Its good that Billy West says the movies are greenlit, but it doesnt mean anything until Matt Groening or Fox confirms it. I hope I dont have a clue what Im talking about...

Even if you do set your standards low, you'll still be disappointed if it doesn't happen... EDIT: Yay! I just realised that my request to have the plotline deleted has gone through. The system works! ...sort of EDIT EDIT (to avoid double-posting): Seeing as how Billy West didn't read my question on the forum, I sent him a private massage in hopes that it will get through.
