Whoaa...

well we already had several civilised discussions, and the latest brought many of us to the point that most affords are useless. Futurama got cancelled years ago and the last episode had its premier airing in August 03.
I don't want to mention all the points we had back in that discussion, so I simply direct you to that thread where it happened:

Futurama is over, and there is not much you can do about it.

Petititons failed, and people get tired of "banging their head against the wall" (quote from Nixorbo), however there are still some things going on like the The official AFF thread (Revenge on Fox!).

please don't use the finger smiley too often. It has been used too often concerning the manners of FOX, and we kept it mainly for special occasions where it really is needed. (Never  ;))

One last thing: Take a look at some guidelines for PEEL, read about its basic behaviour and rules in the PEELer's FAQ. Post with just one (insulting) word or emotion aren't seen with pleasure, so aren't double postings.

They should bring it back, but they probably won't. I don't acknowledge that it's impossible, but I don't think we should count on it.

Welcome to PEEL, and please heed everything that germanfryfan just told you.   :)

Welcome to PEEL, J. Enjoy your stay at Nerd-World. Also, go to the AFF thread. That's pretty much the main Futurama bring it back thread and campaign. And remember to use the search and edit buttons here.

It does have hard performance numbers that one could probably take to the bank if not a network. It also has an established fan base. Both are things a new show won't have. Not sure if one could make a case that Fox is leaving money on the table, which wouldn't please stockhoders. Use it or lose it.

What, is like discussing it a big waste of bandwidth or something? Or are you afraid it might really come back? Just because you discussed it "long ago" shouldn't mean that it can't still be discussed. Sounds like you feel you should involved in every thread and everbody should go back through years of trivia to be sure nothing is said twice a decade. If this forum is that closed why have open membership?

I wasn't around when it happened, but I heard that double-posting, triple-posting, etc..., and wasted threads caused this site to crash twice. I don't know the specifics, so ask someone who does.

Oh yeah, and it's also a waste of space if you create a new thread for a subject, when one that was already created exists. If you want to talk about something, simply post in an already existing thread. There's nothing wrong with that.

Ok, this is the 3rd time its been posted.  Talking about bringing back Futurama is still and active discussion.  Here is the link  AFF (Anchovies for Fry)

Us Peelers prefer to keep everything of the same topic on the same post.  Its much easier to read into, and talk about that way.  Please, if you want to talk about saving futurama, use that link

I don't think mass quantities of large bitmaps help either compared to text when it comes to jammin' thing up. Besides, I haven't seen anything here that has much use after 2 weeks, maybe 30 days. Futurama stuff, oh my yes, but the most active thread now is the Offtopic category. I have a hunch than in about 6 months there won't be much Futurama discussion at all. What will PEEL be called then?

Hmmm. There is something called the 'General Disscussion Board'. And this show has been cancelled for about 2 years. I'm sure this board will live for quite some time.

OK. Odd how people worried about redundancy copy/paste what I just wrote. A simple "futz:" would do.

You do hit on some good points there futz - if I want to talk about Futurama, I don't come to PEEL, I just chat with my friends that like the show. And all of them WILL like the show dammit! Seriously, at my birthday party yesterday I had a rather tipsy girl in my bedroom, and what was the first thing I said?

"You wanna watch some Futurama?"

Still cool though, another convert to the show  :) (I put 'parasites lost' on).

Anyways, enough about my crippling Futurama obsession, I'd like to bump some old discussion threads about the various episodes, but I'd only get flamed/ called an attention whore for doing so. This, in my opinion, is the main flaw with ontopic discussion at the moment. People join, wanting to talk about the show, but can't because it's all already been discussed by some other people 2 or 3 years ago.

I only bother with ontopic for some of the more creative games, and the occasional tidbit of coolness (like Juliet's prank call).

How about allowing some new, clean, threads for the episodes? Just to provide some interesting stuff for new members to talk about. Sure, it's been said before, but it'll make the place a bit more enjoyable if it's easier to actually discuss Futurama.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Everythings been discussed, so whenever someone makes a new topic, it's linked to and the new one is closed. If someone resurrects a dead thread, it's dominated by "Wow, this is an old thread" comments and it's very hard to get it started again. If it were me, all threads older then one year would be deleted (and probably stored elsewhere for historical significance).

The AFF Thread hasn't been posted on in a few weeks. Not a year, a few weeks. So for everybody that is stupid and wants to just post here, fine, go ahead. Just know that in a few hours, a mod will come here and shut this thread down. I'm not trying to be mean, but you know it will happen soon. So, you'd might as well go to the AFF Thread and post there about this.

Yeah, some should be deleted, but others are useful when searching for stuff already done before someone flames you.

Anyways, do post in the AFF Thread, so your opinions do count and aren't locked up with the rest of this thread.
