Yes, comparing Mountain Dew to the excrement of a gigantic space slug seems entirely appropriate to me.

Who says they can't taste the same? They might not be the same texture of have the same ingredients, but it can still taste similar. STOP KILLING MY DREAMS!!!!

I always thought Slurm was intended to be the futuristic equivelant of Mountain Dew. Kind of like Admiral Crunch. You don't wanna know where that comes from!

I think it's like Mountain Dew, but a blueberry/cherry taste.

For some reason, I always thought of Mountain Dew as well. Maybe it's because I have a deep hatred of Mountain Dew.

Or maybe because it's a green carbonated drink :P

No, I was agreeing with you.  I actually believe that Mountain Dew tastes, or could taste, like the excrement of some vile, disgusting, gigantic worm.

Hey, I love Dew!  I used to live off that stuff. And with no permenant damage...amage...amage. It might just be the colour, but I think that's what it tastes like.

I never even thought of it being like Mountain Dew.  I don't think Slurm looks like it would have orange flavour.
Also the consistency of Slurm. It looks like it has the consistency almost of sauce, it looks congealed.
Maybe it looks like a grape flavour possibly?  It also looks like it has a very sweet flavour.  How about peach flavour?

Isn't Mountain Dew lemon-lime, especially considering they released a special flavor called orange?

I always thought it was a 'liquinated' green jelly. And it would taste like really sweet jelly all mushed together.
Now that doesn't sound to nice, does it?

I thought with the thick consistancy, it would kind of be a lime syrup type drink.

I've always thought Mountain Dew as well.  In fact the logo is sort of similar, which I also thought was probably intentional.

You know how in a soda fountain the carbonated water is kept separate from the syrup with all the sugar, flavoring, and other stuff, and then it gets mixed together?  If you drank just the Mountain Dew syrup without mixing it with the water, I'm pretty sure that that's what Slurm would taste like.

So just like Mountain Dew then.

Seriously though, I agree with David A for once.  It would probably taste a lot like soda syrup, given the texture, and I believe it's supposed to be based on Mountain Dew in terms of color and reputation.  Not to mention it's target consumer: slacker morons (i.e. Fry) who think drinking a specific beverage will make them cool or Xtreme or something.

I dont think that is the targer consumer Nerdo

(for a bit of background) My brother is a top guy at a vending company, and has to meet with the people who make MD for sales information.

Surprisingly, MD is the top seller?  Why - no its not slackers, it the warehouse workers, they drink MD like its water because it gives them energy

Hmm...that sounds right. I always imagined it as being really thick, too, so it works. Still, you've gotta wonder why such a disgusting-sounding drink would be so addictive.

Given the chance, I'd probably try some Slurm, just to see what it really tastes like.

(You know, I actually like Code Red and Baja Blast...they taste nothing like regular Mountain Dew.)

Well, that makes sense certainly, but I was talking about who they targeted their marketing towards: people who watch too much television and fantasize of being "extreme athlete"-types.

I think it would taste like Surge. Not only was Surge the same color but it was also addictive like Slurm, which is why they had to pull it off the shevles. Coincidence? I think not. I say they did that on purpose.

There is no 'slushy' in The Simpsons?  I think you mean Squishee. (Also, Ecks is a brand of soft drink...hehe what a coincidence)

Concerning Mountain Dew, it may be a bit different in Australia compared to US. Mountain Dew has always just been another soft drink to me, I've never had any strong feelings or opinions towards it. Also, when I look at the ingredients it says it is orange flavour.

Everyone keeps saying it might be lemon lime flavored, and it compares to MD.  But I was just thinking, why would a company have 2 of the same drink.

I forget which company owns it, but lets say for example is Coke.  Coke already has 7up which is a lemon lime flavored pop.  Why would they also have the same pop with a different name? (ie MD)  I havent have MD in years, but I dont think its lemon lime - so Slurm has got to be one or the other  :)

I think Mountain Dew is owned by Pepsi. So 7up and Mountain Dew would be competitors I guess.

Mountain Dew (8 fl. oz)
Contains: Carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup and/or sugar, concentrated orange juice and other natural flavors, citric acid, sodium benzoate (preserves freshness), caffeine, sodium citrate, gum arabic, yellow 5, erythorbic acid (preserves freshness), calcium disodium EDTA (to protect flavor) and brominated vegetable oil
To summarise: orange flavour.

(This is not a productive area of discussion...)

I would imagine Slurm tastes a lot like sticking your tongue up a worm's asshole. You never know, that sort of thing could be considered a delicacy in 3000.

No. More like "It went from 29 posts about what soda Slurm tastes like to the more practical theory of it tasting like worm ass in one post."

Obviously it's similar to mountain dew... only thicker and colder, with more of a green taste to it.

I know the case is pretty much closed, but I really don't think Mountain Dew is lemon-lime. I like lemon-lime...it's kind of hard to describe, but it's not as sickly sweet as I remember Mountain Dew being. Also, lemon-lime is clear, whereas Mountain Dew is green.

True, It is indeed not lemon-lime because I even just looked at the can and there is no mention of lemon-lime anywhere on it. Quite simply to me, Mountain Dew is Mountain Dew. It's flavor is not really compairable to basically anything.

maybe it is sour apple syrup.  you can never have just one lick of a sour apple candy.  or maybe Slurm has has some of Bender's "special ingredient".
