My grandma is watching TV right now, a show called Gilmore Girls. It's on ABC Family, if anyone cares.
Anyway, I've seen parts of the show and I pretty much despise it, but there was a pretty large Futurama reference on it right now. There were two guys in a dorm room or something, fighting over space on a shelf. Guy #2 said something along the lines of "Your Futurama action figures are on my side of the shelf, move them off." They then argued for a while, and then guy 2 said "Look, Bender and Leela are on my side of the shelf. Just move them over, and I'll be fine." To which Guy 1 responds "That's not Bender, that's Nibbler. Bender is a robot." and he holds it up, showing him.

There was also some sort of comment about "Why do you have them here anyway? What are you, twelve?" which kind of ruined the moment. It makes you wonder if the writers actually thought Futurama was for little children, or if it was intentionally poking fun at people who don't give it a second look.

Anyway, just thought I'd share the info.

Ah, I must see that for myself. I also hate that show... How dare they belittle Futurama?

The episode is called Scene in a Mall, according to Google.

Anyway... Futurama references on other shows. Just got bumped a few days ago. Still, cool find! I don't think a little good-natured ribbing is worth getting upset over. We're nerds. We should be used to it by now. At least it got referenced, right?

I saw that show once on a TV in a pizza parlor. It was on mute, so I don't know whether it sucked or not. I'm currently withholding judgement. But that's great that the reference was so detailed. Usually, they just mention the words "Futurama" or "Bender" and move on. I guess to avoid making non-fans feel stupid. But, I agree that they were probably referring to collecting the toys as childish, not the show itself. *glances at Futurama figurines* Eheheh.

I never watch that show but did happen to just randomly see that clip once.  I didn't get the feeling they were trying to belittle it, or really make any kind of statement actually.  It just seemed like a "clash of characters" to me, where one is adamant about collecting figurines of a television show, and the other considers it childish.  Just usual material for a tv drama really.  The fact that they were able to accurately identify the characters' names is actually probably a good sign that the scene was suggested by someone on staff who likes Futurama.
