"Right on the nose" Of course.  I've never seen someone make that gesture to mean that but it makes the most sense. Later on the picture of the poacher is indeed a "little grey dude with a big oval head."

I never really understood "Fry, for guessing which animal I was thinking of."

Can someone explain that one?

^I've always wondered that, too.  They make it seem like Fry said an animal inadvertently - but I never heard anything.

Okay, something I just heard from ep 2x03: "...Now beat it before I get Cambodian on your asses." -Nixon
I looked it up and apparently there have been wars, and name changes - but as for the joke, I still don't get it.  Is it just the violence or is there any more?  I guess I'm not getting it because I never really paid attention to the news.   :hmpf:

It's nothign complicated, the apparently during the commercial they decided who would go next by playing a round of "What animal am I thinking of?" which is silly. The fact that silly=funny is a well-established fact, formally proven by researchers at MIT in a famous and groundbreaking proof of the Monty Python Theorum in 1992.

-Sedna: It's a reference to the Vietnam War, where Nixon secretly bombed the hell out of Cambodia. It was one of his many scandals, as it was an escalation in a war he was promising to end.

Well he never said exactly how he would end that war...

Is the Klingon embassy in Taste of Freedom supposed to be a Barbie doll "dreamhouse"?

Personally I agree with the Cambodia thing, but at the time most people saw it as deceitful.

Its meant as irony. I've only seen like 2 episodes of Star Trek but I know the Klingons are supposed to be really tough and violent so their embassy is a Barbie house just for the sillyness of it. Also I think the Palace on Omicron Persei 8 is modeled after a Klingon base or something. I need a trekie to confirm this however.

I never got when Leela says "I am not evil. My loan officer said so." I mean its hilarious but is there a reason or is it just ramdom sillyness?

@Frisco - A loan officer is someone who basically decides if you can get a loan or not. I guess this would mean that not being evil is a requirement for getting a loan in the future.

It shares a few very basic design characteristics (decapitated pyramid) with the Klingon Great Hall. Other than that, nothing I've seen in Trek resembles the Omicronian Palace.

Bear in mind I haven't seen more than a handful of the TOS and ENT episodes.

Has anyone figured out if there is a specific reference or reason behind the name "Torgo's" for the powdered executive in BBS?

A character from Manos: The Hand of Fate, as popularized by MST3K.

It's Hands of Fate.
Thus the title translates, of course, to "Hands: the Hands of Fate".  :laff:
(Also, everyone needs to see it).

Yeah.

It's a pun on a real book called, The Red Badge of Courage (it's a book about a soldier in some war).

EDIT:  Oops.

Could somebody delete this post please?  I didn't realize this thread had 4 pages.  X_X

We generally don't delete posts because it can screw up the delicate framework of toothpicks and chewing gum that holds PEEL together. Just edit out all the text from your postand replace it with something like "*deleted*.

The fact that BBS referenced "Mystery Science Theater" just kicked it up a notch in my mind.

Yeah, that was one of the things that probably made me laugh the hardest when I first watched it. (Of course there was that bit in "Raging Bender", but this was even more subtle).

Bringing this one back for a BwaBB question.

I don't get why Leela's throat and stomach glow when she drinks the Red Minotaur energy drink.  Is the joke that its ingredients are so powerful that you can see them glow through her skin?

Yeah, that's the "gag" as I saw it.
